Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(7):1101-1108
BACKGROUND:Anterior cruciate ligament injury can trigger knee instability, knee osteoarthritis which decreases human beings’ life quality. Exploration on non-contact anterior cruciate ligament injury mechanism can prevent the occurrence of anterior cruciate ligament injury.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the mechanism of fatigue effect on non-contact anterior cruciate ligament injury and to introduce the progression of fatigue effect on non-contact anterior cruciate ligament injury in jump-landing activities.
METHODS:The author retrieved the PubMed database from 1988 to 2013 by computer. The key words were set as:ACL, landing, and fatigue. A total of 42 articles were included which related to biomechanics research on anterior cruciate ligament injury, fatigue landing and low-limb injury.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:In jump-landing activities, knee valgus, moment, knee joint rotation and smal er knee flexion are main biomechanics underlying non-contact anterior cruciate ligament injury. In addition, fatigue effect is another critical factor for non-contact anterior cruciate ligament injury. However, the cause-effect between fatigue effect and anterior cruciate ligament injury is not clearly investigated and summarized, especial y on fatigue level, fatigue induction and movement control. Introduction of fatigue induction is crucial for better understanding how fatigue effect results in anterior cruciate ligament injury. Thus, the quantification of fatigue level, fatigue models and landing ways wil provide new ideas for exploring biomechanical mechanism underlying anterior cruciate ligament injury in fatigue state, as wel as provide more information on intervention design and injury rehabilitation.

AIM: The present study was designed to determine whether Sini decoction (SND), a traditional Chinese medicine, induces delayed preconditioning-like effect in rat heart and the possible mechanism by which ischemia myocardium is protected. METHODS: Sprage-Dawleyt rats underwent three 5 min episodes of preconditioning ischemia 24 h prior to the global ischemia and reperfusion in ischemic preconditioning/second window of protection (IPC/SWOP) group or were pretreated with Sini decoction (5 mL?kg -1 ?d -1 for 3 days, the last treatment 24 h before global ischemia and reperfusion) in SND group. Myocardial infarct size, CK, LDH and NO were examined. p38 MAPK and PKC were determined by immunohistochemisty. RESULTS: Myocardial infarct size was significantly decreased, CK and LDH were decreased in the serum, NO 2 -/NO 3 - was increased in myocardial tissue in SND group as well as in IPC/SWOP group (there was no difference between the two groups). The expression of p38 MAPK and PKC were upregulated in myocardial tissue in SND and IPC/SWOP groups. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that Sini decoction induces delayed preconditioning-like effect in the rat heart, possibly via inducing p38 MAPK activation.

Objective To determine the relative factors of the onset of repeated ectopic pregnancy. Methods The clinical data of the first time ectopic pregnancy of 28 cases with repeated ectopic pregnancy were analysed, and compared with those of 56 cases of non-repeated ectopic pregnancy onsetting at the same period. The factors measured included: age at onset of disease, age at first coitus, gravidity, parity, methods of contraception, duration of amenorrhea, duration of vaginal bleeding, serum ?-human chorionic gonadotropin level, volume of intraperitoneal bleeding, types of ectopic pregnancy, methods of therapy and inflammation evidence of fallopian tube. Logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the relative factors for onset of repeated pregnancy. Results The risk factors and its odds ratio (OR) from the multivariate analysis were as follow: anastomosis of the tube(62.74, P=0.043), positive evidence of inflammation of the tube (54.85, P=0.000), no contraception (11.29, P=0.002), contraception by condom occasionally (4.75, P=0.046); the protective factors and its OR were as follow: therapy being salpingectomy and sterilization of the opposite tube(0.06, P=0.049), oral contraception (0.10, P=0.050) and pharmacotherapy (0.33, P=0.002). Conclusions The risk factors of onset of repeated ectopic pregnancy include: anastomosis of the tube, positive evidence of inflammation of the tube, no contraception and contraception by condom occasionally; the protective factors include: therapy being salpingectomy and sterilization of the opposite tube, oral contraception and pharmacotherapy.
