OBJECTIVE: To explore the association of XRCC3 gene polymorphisms and haplotypes with laryngeal. METHOD: We selected 4 tag SNPs (rs12432907, rs861536, rs861537, rs861531, rs861531) for the present study. 310 laryngeal patients and 310 healthy control subject were genotyping. The distribution of genotypes and haplotypes in these two group was compared. RESULT: The distributions of rs12432907 was significantly different between these two groups. The CCAG haplotype frequency was higher in laryngeal group than that in control group. But TCAG and TTAG haplotype frequency was were lower in the laryngeal patient than that those in the control subject. CONCLUSION XRCC3 gene polymorphism was associated with the risk of laryngeal patients.

Objective To understand the status of depression and compare with the same age group of Chinese norms of CES-D in urban areas and analyze its potential influencing factors among male nursing undergraduates.Methods In this cross-sectional study,the CES-D and self-made questionnaire were administrated to 102 male nursing undergraduates from two schools of nursing through two-stage random sampling.Results The prevalence of depression was 14.0％,and the score of nursing undergraduates was (11.00±6.37) points,which had no significant difference from the scores of the same age group of Chinese norms in urban areas.Univariate analysis showed that coming from countryside,worse interpersonal relationship,worse career prospect,getting no attention from parents had some significant association with depression.Multivariate analysis showed that worse career prospect and getting no attention from parents associated with lower CES-D scores.Condusions For male nursing undergraduates,efforts should be given from the aspects of families and career prospects to improve their psychological health condition,and reserve qualified resources for nursing profession.

Objective To investigate the association between genetic polymorphisms of exon3 of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor ?4 subunit (CHRNA4) and sporadic Alzheimer's disease(SAD).Methods In 23 SAD patients and 30 people of normal control, exon3 of CHRNA4 was screened by PCR-DGGE and DNA sequencing.Results Three new genetic polymorphisms were found in the exon3 of CHRNA4: C104T, A136G, G169A.The frequnces of these three genes in SAD group were 35%,46%,61% respectively and in control group were 13%,13%,33% respectively. BACKGROUND: Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) is a kind of stem cell with potential of self-repair and multi-differentiation. It may differentiate into neuron, adipose cell and osteoblasts.OBJECTIVE: To observe the transforming efficacy of human bone marrow mesencymal stem cells (hMSCs) into neurons in vitro in different generations so as to provide reliable experimental data for the clinical application of MSCs.DESIGN: Single sample was designed.SETTING: Department of Neurology, Sino-Japan Friendship Hospital,Jilin UniversityPARTICIPANTS: Marrow tissue was collected from 9 cases of spinal fusion in Department of Orthopedics of First Hospital affiliated to Jilin University. Of 9 cases, all of them were in known of the experiment.METHODS: The experiment was performed in Sino-Japan Hospital affiliated to Jilin University from September 2002 to February 2003. The primary and generative culture of hMSCs was given. Experimental and the control groups were divided.-mercaptoethanol was taken as inducer. hMSCs of the 2rd, 4th, 6th and 8th generations were selected for induction in vitro for 6 h. Cytochemistry staining and immunohistochemistry staining were used to assay the expressions of neuronal and astrocytic marked proteins.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① Growth curve analysis on genera tive culture of hMSCs. ② Nissel staining. ③ Immunohistochemical staining.RESULTS: ① Common characters of generative culture: The latent phase of generative culture was 12-24 hours, exponential phase was 7-10 days and 11-13 days later, cell culture entered the platform phase. ② After induction of the 2nd, 4th and 6th generated hMSCs, deep blue granular Nissl body presented in cytoplasm. In 6 hours on the 8th induction, there was no obvious deep blue Nissl structure presented in cytoplasm.③ Except GFAP, NSE and NF-M were expressed in hMSCs of different generations after induction for 6 hours. There was no significant difference in positive rates of the 2nd, 4th and 6th generations (P ＞ 0.05), but the significant difference presented in comparison between the 8th generation and the 2nd, 4thand 6th generations (P ＜ 0.05). CONCLUSION:-mercaptoethanol can induce hMSCs differentiating into neuronal cells in vitro. The positive rates of the 2nd, 4th and 6th generationsare higher remarkably than the 8th generation.

Objective To investigate the change and clinical significance of thyroid CT value in patients with Graves disease and Hashimoto' s thyroiditis (HT).Methods One hundred and twelve Graves patients (GD group),54 HT patients (HT group) and 36 healthy people (NC group) were selected as our subjects.Computed tomography (CT) value of thyroid were measured.Results The CT value of the left thyroid gland was (70.53 ± 15.44) Hu in GD group,while (70.50 ± 16.01) Hu at the right side.In HT group,the CT value of the left thyroid gland was (53.77 ± 4.88) Hu,and (52.38 ± 6.67) Hu at the right side.The CT value of the left and right sides was (99.66 ±9.80) Hu and (100.77 ± 10.66) Hu in the NC group respectively.The CT value of GD and HT group were lower than that of the NC group (P ＜ 0.01),and the CT value of the HT group lower than that of the GD group more significant (P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion (1) The CT value of the GD group and the HT group are significantly lower than the NC group and the CT value of the HT group reduces more apparently than that of the GD group.(2) CT values can be used as an early,non-invasive diagnosis of GD and HT secondary indexes.

Objective To know the effect of psychological nursing for aged patients with femoral neck fractures when cured by artificila hip replacement. Methods Divided 158 aged patients with femoral neck fractures into the intervention group (84 cases) and control group (68 cases) randomly. Routine nursing cares were used in the control group, while the psychological nursing intervention were used in the intervention group in addition. Compared the degree of postoperative pains and preoperative anxiety between the two groups, and then evaluated the function of limbs. Results The degree of postoperative pains and preoperative anxiety in the interventioni group was better than that of in control group respectively, the condition of limb function was better in the intervention group than in the control group. Conclusions Psychological intervention can promote rehabilitation for aged patients with femoral neck fractures when cured by artificila hip replacement, which can guarantee the satisfactory prognosis.

Objective To explore the expressions of survivin and Ki-67 in breast cancer tissues after neo-adjuvant chemotherapy and their clinical significance.Methods The expressions of survivin and Ki-67 in 60 cases of breast cancer with neo-adjuvant chemotherapy(NACT) with CTF regimen and 60 cases without NACT were detected by SABC immunohistochemical technique.ResultsThe positive rates of survivin(36.7%)and Ki-67(38.3%) in neo-adjuvant chemotherapy group were significantly lower than those in control group(71.7%,61.7%)(P0.05).ConclusionsThe therapeutic effect of neo-adjuvant chemotherapy with CTF regimen can increase the remission rate of breast cancer.Neo-adjuvant chemotherapy could inhibit the expression of survivin protein,and thus further inhibit proliferation of tumor cell.

Objective:To study the antihyperglycemic effect of water soluble polysaccharides (MCW) and alkaline soluble polysaccharides (MCB) from Momordica charantia L. on streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice. Method:Twelve mice were selected randomly as control, while the other l08 mice were injected with STZ 200 mg/kg?bw to induce diabetes.The diabetic mice were divided into 4 groups,the model, MCW (300 mg/kg bw), MCB (300 mg/kg bw), Gilbenclamide (15 mg/kg bw). The above components were administered intragastrically for 10 d and then blood samples were taken to determine concentrations of serum glucose and insulin. Results: The blood glucose levels could be obviously decreased by MCW and MCB in the diabetic mice. MCB has the best antihyperglycemic effect, in terms of improving the serum insulin level and decreasing the blood glucose level of diabetic mice. Conclusion:The polysaccharides from Momordica charantia can repair the injured pancreatic islet tissues and enhance insulin secretion so as to reduce blood glucose level of the diabetic mice.

Objective To investigate the functional esophageal dismotility in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) by simultaneous high frequency intraluminal ultrasonography(HFIUS) and esophageal manometry,and evaluate the correlation between the peak pressure and the peak muscle thickness of the esophagus.Besides,to identify the potential efficacy and feasibility of the HFIUS for evaluating the functional gastrointestinal diseases(FGIDs).Methods Ten GERD patients and 5 healthy controls were enrolled into this study.High-frequency ultrasonic probe and esophageal manometry catheter were simultaneous administrated.The cross sectional image of esophageal motion was recorded by HFIUS and was analyzed by the contractility index (CI)of the longitudinal smooth muscle(LSM)and circular smooth muscle(CSM),the duration of the contraction (DC)and the maximum cross section area(CSA)during distension;In addition,esophageal peak pressure during wet-swaltow was measured by manometry.Results Tile contractility index of the LSM and CSM of esophagus at 5 cm,10 cm,1 5 cm and 20 em proximal to the LES was significantly lower in patients with GERD than that of controls(P＜0.05).The duration of the contraction was longer in patients with GERD.But there was no siginificant difference of the maximum CSA during distension between GERD patients and normal controls(P＞0.05).However,the simultaneous manometry only demonstrated nonspecific esophageal motility disorder on 6 of 10 GERD patients.And there was positive correlation between the peak pressure and the peak muscle thickness at all sites along the axis of the esophagus,revealed the pressure was increasing along with the thickening of the esophageal muscle layers(r=0.552-0.736).Conclusions Functional esophageal dismotility played an important role in the pathogenesis of GERD.Meanwhile,there was positive correlation between the esophageal pressure and the muscle layer thickness of the esophagus.HFIUS can detect the minor changes of the layer structure of the esophagus and is a potentially useful imaging modality for evaluating esophageal dismotility as well as FGIDs.
