Objective To observe the opticin expression in the eyes of non-obese diabetes (NOD) mice and non-diabetic NOD mice . Methods Twenty NOD mice were divided into diabetic group (experimental group) and non-diabetic group (control group). All the mice were killed by cervical dislocation method. The eyes were harvested, and the vitreous, retina and sclera were separately collected. Western blot and real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)were respectively used to determine opticin protein and OPTC-mRNA levels. Results The opticin protein level in the vitreous and retina was lower in the experimental group(t = 4.42,4.58; P = 0. 002,0. 002), but is same in the sclera between the 2 groups (t = 0. 27, P = 0. 794). OPTC-mRNA level was vitreous> retina> selera. OPTC-mRNA levels of vitreous and retina in diabetic group were significantly Iower(t = 3.30,2. 48; P= 0. 01, 0.04); there was no statistical significant on OPTC mRNA of sclera between two groups(t = 0. 27, P = 0. 80). Conclusion Expression of opticin was suppressed in retina and vitreous of diabetic mice.

ObjectiveTo discuss effective measures to improve postoperative sexual life quality of patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN).MethodsOne hundred and twenty patients with CIN were randomly assigned to the blue-ribbon club group, the friendship-support group and the control group. The blue-ribbon club patients were regarded as club members and received special education every two months. The friendship-support group patients received education one by one in the hospital setting and the control group patients received the same education as before participated into the trial. Female sexual function index (FSFI)was used to evaluate sexual function before and 6 months after intervention.ResultsExcept sexual pain, the total score of FSFI and the score of sub-domain in the blueribbon club were significantly higher than that in the control group. The total score of FSFI and score of sub-domain were significantly higher than that in the control group. There were no significant differences between both intervention groups.ConclusionsBoth education intervention modes of the blue-ribbon club group and the friendship- support group could effectively improve sexual function for post-operation patients with CIN.

Dental stem cells(DSCs)possess the characteristics of stem cells and can be effectively obtained from iatro-waste products (such as impacted wisdom tooth and the extracted teeth for orthodontic reason). It has been proved that DSCs are the important sources of stem cells for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine research.Research of these stem cells will create broader space for tissue engi-neering and regenerative medicine and will have important values in translational research. This review gives an overview of the research pro-gress of dental stem cells, and presents some new findings of several common dental stem cells as well as the application in tissue regenera-tion.

Objective To investigate the oncologic and reproductive outcomes after progestin treatment of complex endometrial hyperplasia(CEH) and grade 1 endometrial carcinoma(EC).Methods In a retrospective study, data were obtained for patients with CEH or grade 1 EC at presumed stage IA(without myometrial invasion) who wished to preserve fertility and were treated at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital, China, between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2011.Patients had received oral medroxyprogesterone acetate(250-500 mg/d) or megestrol acetate(160-480 mg/d) for at least 6 months. Results Among 55 included patients, median age was 32 years(range 21-41 years).41(75%) achieved complete response after a median period of 6(3-24) months.Complete response was less frequent among obese than nonobese patients(4/12 [33%] vs 37/43 [86%];P=0.001).Disease recurrence was recorded in 10(24%) patients with complete response;the 5-year recurrence-freesurvival rate was 71%.Among the 33 patients who retained a desire to conceive, 17(52%) became pregnant. Conclusions Fertility-sparing management with oral progestin is effective and safe.Obesity is associated with a lower probability of long-term success.
