2.Environmental endocrine disruptors and kisspeptin system
International Journal of Pediatrics 2014;(5):493-495
Environmental endocrine disruptors have garnered considerable attention in recent years be-cause of their endocrine disruption on sex development disorders. Kisspeptin system might be a novel target for endocrine disruption at the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonad axis. Environmental endocrine disruptors′estrogenic properties make them capable of interacting with the kisspeptin system, and then confer lifelong consequences in-cluding altered pubertal timing, infertility, and metabolic disorders. To date, three compounds have been well studied for their capacity to interfere with kisspeptin signaling pathways:BPA,PCB mixtures, and the phytoestro-gen GEN.

Journal of International Oncology 2016;43(5):364-367
Chemotherapy is one of the main treatment methods in malignant tumor.Tumor multidrug resistance (MDR) is one of the important reasons for the failure of chemotherapy. It makes some progress in reversing tumor MDR,such as chemical drug, traditional Chinese medicine, immunotherapy, gene therapy, nanoparticles drug system and so on.But it takes more effort to develop medicine of less adverse reactions, better pharmacodynamic and application to clinic widely.
5.Diagnosis and clinical implications of cochlear dead regions.
Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2013;27(22):1277-1282
The cochlear dead regions are common exist in the case of moderate to profound sensorineural hearing loss. Patients with dead regions have demonstrated poor understanding of speech in noise and report less satisfaction with hearing aids than patients with no dead regions. Dead regions are assumed to occur if a hearing-impaired listener can be shown to be using off-place listening. A correctly diagnosed dead regions facilitates accurate and informed aural rehabilitation.

National Journal of Andrology 2015;21(1):78-81
Ultrasonography (US) is extensively used in the diagnosis of prostate cancer; but with its disadvantages of poor sensitivity and specificity, frequently causes underdiagnosis, and over 50% of the results of transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided biopsy fail to accord with those of surgical pathology. In addition to contrast-enhanced ultrasound and real-time elastography, various new ultrasonic techniques have been developed nowadays, such as prostate histoscanning, brachytherapy template-guided 3-dimensional mapping biopsy (3DMB), and MRI/US fusion. Prostate histoscanning is an ultrasound-based technology that uses computer-aided analysis to identify and characterize the foci of prostate cancer. 3DMB, involving the whole gland, has an even higher accuracy. MRI/US fusion integrates the advantages of pre-interventional MRI with those of peri-interventional ultrasonography, and offers high-resolution images and convenient puncturing. Constant development of ultrasonography will continue to add to its clinical application value.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the validity and feasibility of consecutive three-stage surgical technique of combining auricle reconstruction with external auditory canal atresia reconstruction in patients with congenital microtia-atresia, and to assess the post-surgery results by cosmetic and hearing aspects.
METHODSFrom Sep. 2007 to Jun. 2011, all 74 patients (79 ears) with congenital microtia-atresia treated in our department were enrolled in this study. They consecutively accepted the following three-stage surgical technique: The first stage was Brent' s technique as follows, rib cartilage graft harvest, framework fabrication, and implantation. The second stage combined transfer of the lobule with meatoplasty and tympanoplasty. The third stage was the elevation of the reconstructed auricle. Both the cosmetic and functional hearing results were recorded at follow-ups.
RESULTSAmong these patients, 60 patients (78.5%), 62 ears, acquired extremely satisfactory cosmetic results; 10 patients (16.5%), 13 ears, acquired acceptable cosmetic results; while the remaining 4 patients (5.1%) acquired unsatisfactory cosmetic results. However, the height of elevation of the newly performed auricle framework was not enough due to the existence of newly formed external ear canal. Regarding the hearing results, there were 69 ears with followup audiograms. An air-bone gap (ABG) improvement of 12.5 dB was achieved. The air-conduction hearing threshold improved (10.9 ± 8.2) dBHL, 37 ears (53.6%) achieved serviceable hearing after surgery, with ABG less than 30 dB. There were multiple complications occurred after surgery with the incidence of 49.4% (39/79).
CONCLUSIONSThe combined three-stage surgical microtia and canal atresia reconstruction technique is a viable choice for some suitable patients with microtia-atresia. However, the incidence of complication after meatoplasty is very high and the hearing restoration is not good enough, which need further investigation for the better results.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2014;31(4):755-770
Wavelet entropy is a quantitative index to describe the complexity of signals. Continuous wavelet transform method was employed to analyze the spontaneous electroencephalogram (EEG) signals of mild, moderate and severe Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients and normal elderly control people in this study. Wavelet power spectrums of EEG signals were calculated based on wavelet coefficients. Wavelet entropies of mild, moderate and severe AD patients were compared with those of normal controls. The correlation analysis between wavelet entropy and MMSE score was carried out. There existed significant difference on wavelet entropy among mild, moderate, severe AD patients and normal controls (P<0.01). Group comparisons showed that wavelet entropy for mild, moderate, severe AD patients was significantly lower than that for normal controls, which was related to the narrow distribution of their wavelet power spectrums. The statistical difference was significant (P<0.05). Further studies showed that the wavelet entropy of EEG and the MMSE score were significantly correlated (r= 0. 601-0. 799, P<0.01). Wavelet entropy is a quantitative indicator describing the complexity of EEG signals. Wavelet entropy is likely to be an electrophysiological index for AD diagnosis and severity assessment.
