Objective To study the correlation between prognosis of non-small cell lung cancer ( NSCLC) patient and serum levels of HGF and IL-6. Methods Eligible 109 NSCLC patients and preoperative blood samples of each patient in our hospital from March 2013 to May 2014 were collected. Then the levels of HGF and IL-6 of serum samples were detected by using ELISA kit. All patients were followed up for 1 year. The neoplasm staging:67 cases were stagingⅠ-Ⅱ,38 cases were stagingⅢ,2 cases were staging IV. There were 79 cases with ad-enomatous carcinoma( ADC) ,26 cases with squamous carcinoma( SCC) and 4 cases with NSCLC. According to the TNM staging, there were 79 cases in pN( -) group,31 in pN( +) group,77 in pT(T1-T2) group and 28 in pT(T3-T4) group. Results The average concentration of HGF and IL-6 in serum were 860 pg/mL and 2. 7 pg/mL respectively. Analysis of survival indicated that, compared to those patient with lower serum level of HGF and IL-6,the survival rate of patient with high serum level was much lower. The difference was statistically signifi-cant (HGF,P=0. 019;IL-6,P=0. 002). The analysis of the patients with stageⅢdisease separately also indicated that survival rate of pa-tient with lower serum of HGF and IL-6 was higher than others. Conclusion The serum levels of HGF and IL-6 might be a effective indica-tors for predicting prognosis of the NSCLC paitents.

AIM: To investigate whether Programmed death-1 (PD-1) expression on peripheral CD4~+CD25~(nt/hi)CD127~(lo) regulatory T cells (Treg) was associated with disease progression in HIV-1-infected patients. METHODS: Peripheral blood from 108 HIV-1-infected patients in distinct disease progression statuses and 27 healthy individuals were collected in the present investigation. PBMCs were isolated by centrifugation on Ficoll-Hypaque, followed by staining with anti-CD4-PerCP, anti-CD25-FITC, anti-CD127-PE and anti-PD-1-APC. PD-1 expression on Treg was analyzed by four-color staining flow cytometry. CD4~+T cell absolute counts were determined using Multitest CD3/CD4/CD8/CD45 kit and plasma viral loads were detected on NucliSens EasyQ. All data were analyzed using SPSS14.0 software. RESULTS: In peripheral blood of healthy individuals, Treg expressed PD-1 at very low levels (1.72%±0.65%). In contrast, Treg from HIV-1-infected patients showed a significantly increased PD-1 expression (5.33%±2.24%, P<0.01). Moreover, AIDS patients exhibited statistically higher PD-1 expression on Treg (7.87%±2.23%) than newly HIV-1 infected patients (3.22%±1.01%, P<0.05) and patients in progression to AIDS(5.21%±1.72%, P<0.05). PD-1 up-regulation on Treg was closely correlated with reduced CD4~+T cell absolute counts but elevated plasma viral load. CONCLUSION: Overall, we found that PD-1 expression on peripheral Treg was up-regulated and correlated with disease progression in HIV-1-infected patients for the first time. These findings not only extend our understanding of how Treg functions in HIV-1-infected patients but also support the notion that blocking PD-1/PD-L1 interactions may represent a potential therapeutic strategy for HIV-1-infected patients.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2010;26(5):393-394
The variation of blood glucose in 1 147 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus was monitored by continuous glucose monitoring system(CGMS). The results showed that the peak hours of nocturnal hypoglycemia occurred during 22 : 00-2 : 00. The incidence of nocturnal hypoglycemia was negatively correlated with mean blood glucose and blood glucose at three hours after supper. The probability of hypoglycemia was up to 50% when blood glucose level had been as low as 4. 7 mmol/L at 3 h after supper.

Objective To investigate the value of measurement of cardiac output in children by bio-reactance versus echocardiography. Methods Pediatric patients admitted in pediatric department of Peking University First Hospital from September to December 2012 who needed hemodynamic monitoring were enrolled prospectively.Cardiac index(CI)and stroke volume(SV)were measured by echocardiography and non-invasive cardiac output measurement(NICOM)and compared by Spearman correlation and Bland-Alt-man analysis. Results Thirty patients were included. The median age was 7.25 years.CI[M(P5 ,P95 )] measured by NICOM and echocardiography were correlated significantly[3.42(2.28,4.92)L /(min?m2 ) vs.3.51 (2.94,4.85 )L/(min?m2 ),R =0.385,P =0.035 ].Bland-Altman analysis revealed a bias of-0.22 L/(min?m2 )(P =0.051 ),limits of agreement of -1.40 to 0.95 L/(min?m2 ).SV[M(P5 ,P95 )] measured by NICOM and echocardiography were correlated more significantly [36.3 (12.6,87.8 )ml vs.39.4(14.7,86.9)ml,R =0.768,P ﹤0.001 ].Bland-Altman analysis revealed a bias of -3.1 ml(P =0.176),limits of agreement of -27.4 to 21.2 ml.Conclusion There is no significant difference between NICOM and echocardiography for the measurement of CI and SV in pediatric patients.Further validation studies need to be conducted before routine clinical use.
