Objective To investigate the value of dialysis and ethics of withdrawal dialysis.Method Through analysis of some typical cases of ESRD patients,to investigate the value of dialysis.Conclusion A lot of ESRD patients can survive through dialysis,thanks to the improvement of medical science in last 30 years.On the other hand,it can also keep some patients with no living calculation surviving,becoming the burdensome of families,hospitals and societies.Our object is to discuss the ethics of withdrawal dialysis in our country.

AIM: To examine the inhibition of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity by doxycycline (Doxy) and its effect on vascular smooth muscle cells (SMCs) proliferation, neointimal hyperplasia and vascular remodeling. METHODS: The model of rat common carotid artery injury was established by balloon-dilatation. Doxy was administered to the animals of treatment group at dose of 30 mg?kg -1?d -1. The activity of MMPs in the tissue of injured carotid arteries was measured by gelatin zymography. The thickness and area of neointimal, lumen area and the proliferation of SMCs were measured by histological and morphometric analysis. RESULTS: 1. AIM: To compare and analyze the stereopsis of intermittent exotropia children under the different backgrounds of dynamic stimuli and static stimuli.
METHODS: We collected 56 children ( male 26, female 30 with intermittent exotropia at the age from 5y to 12y and examined their stereopsis under the different backgrounds of dynamic stimuli and static stimuli using a multidimensional sense perception training software. The differences between the dynamic stereopsis and static stereopsis were compared.
RESULTS: Totally 17 cases ( 30%) had both dynamicstereopsis and static stereopsis, 39 cases ( 70%) had either dynamic or static stereopsis deficit, only 10 cases ( 26%) had dynamic stereopsis, 25 cases ( 64%) static stereopsis left and 4 cases ( 10%) were without any form of stereopsis. The positive rate of dynamic stereopsis was better than the positive rate of static stereopsis, with statistical significance (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Dynamicstereopsis is better than the static stereopsis to intermittent exotropia children.

Background: Hemispheric asymmetry studies of working memory are mainly carried out in western countries. Data on Chinese is limited in this area of research. On the other hand, working memory assessment can be limited by the temporal resolution of the imaging modality as well as the design of the cognitive paradigm. These methodological limitations infl uence result interpretation hence hinder cross study comparison. Hemispheric study of memory using a pure working memory paradigm on native Chinese speakers, using a hemodynamic technique with high temporal resolution is thus mandatory. Objective: We aimed to investigate the feasibility of the functional transcranial Doppler sonography (fTCD) and 2-back task with alphabets in assessing the hemispheric lateralization of memory in healthy right-handed Chinese. Methods: Thirteen healthy right-handed Chinese subjects (7 males and 6 females, 19-22 years old) were included. Bilateral monitoring of the cerebral blood fl ow velocity (CFBV) changes in their left and right middle cerebral arteries (MCAs) was performed using fTCD during their performance of a 2-back working memory task with alphabets. Differences of CBFV change between left and right MCAs were analyzed, and the laterality index (LI) was determined. Results: Left lateralization was found in all subjects, with females performed better than males (p < 0.05). No difference in age, response time and LI between the male and female subjects could be observed (p > 0.05). A weak correlation was found between performance accuracy/response time and LI (r2 = 0.12). OBJECTIVETo explore action mechanism of electroacupuncture (EA) at "Fenglong" (ST 40) for treatment of hyperlipidemia.

METHODSForty SPF-grade SD rats were randomly divided into a normal group (group A), a model group (group B), a model diet-control group (group C), a model + EA group (group D) and model diet-control + EA group (group E), 8 cases in each one. The rats in group A were fed with normal diet continuously while those in the rest 4 groups were fed with high-fat diet to establish hyperlipidemia model. Afterwards, the rats in group C and group E were fed with normal diet, while EA at "Fenglong" (ST 40) was applied in group D and group E, 30 min per time, once a day. After 28 days of treatment, macrophage was collected in each group. Oil red O-staining was applied to detect the formation of foam cells, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISE) was adopted to measure the contents of total cholesterol (TC) in macrophage and analyze the rate of cholesterol efflux.

RESULTSThe counts of positive cells of oil red O-staining and the contents of TC in the group B, group C and group D were significantly increased compared with those in the group A (all P < 0.01). The counts of positive cells and contents of TC in the group C, group D and group E were significantly clecreased compared with those in the group B (all P < 0.01), and the decline in group D was more obvious than that in the group C (all P < 0.01). Compared with group C and group D, the counts of positive cells and contents of TC in the group E was obviously decreased (all P < 0.01), which was not statistically different from group A (P > 0.05). In the meantime, compared with group C, the rate of cholesterol efflux in group D and group E was significantly increased (both P < 0.01), and the rise in group E was more obvious than that in the group D.

CONCLUSIONThe electroacupuncture at "Fenglong" (ST 40) could significantly prohibit the transformation of macrophage into foam cell and increase rate of cholesterol efflux in macrophage, which could prevent and reverse the formation of foam cell and play an essential role in treating hyperlipidemia and stopping it from developing into a further level.

Objective To establish and evaluate the new method of 8-color flow cytometry (8c-FCM) with two tube detecting bone marrow minimal residual disease (MRD) in B lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL).MethodsThe MRD cells were analyzed by using two combinations of 8c-FCM antibody panels,gating with CD19/Side scatter(SSC),CD45/CD10 and CD34(or cTdT).Nalm-6 cell of B-ALL was mixed into normal marrow cells,with proportion of 10.00％,1.00％,0.10％,0.01％and 0.005％,and recovery test and reproducibility test were carried with 8c-FCM established to value its accuracy and precision of.Fluorescence intensity was detected on different time points after marked Nalm-6 by antibodies to evaluate the fluorescent stability of the antibodies.The immunophenotyping was analyzed in 39 bone marrow specimens,including 9 cases of normal control,9 cases of B-ALL primary or recurrent,21 cases of complete remission (CR) after chemotherapy or bone marrow transplantation ( BMT),to evaluate the detection of normal B lymphocyte lineage,leukemia cells of B-ALL,MRD cells of B-ALL using the 8c-FCM and compare it with 4c-FCM in being.ResultsThe method of two tube 8c-FCM with main antibodies of CD19,CD45 and CD10 to detect MRD of B-ALL was founded; CV ＜ 2.5％,average recovery rate was 95.81％,when the actual percent of Nalm-6 mixed into normal bone marrow≥0.10％,and the percent of Nalm-6 detected and actual was linear dependent ( r =0.99,P ＜ 0.05 ) ranged from 10.00％ - 0.01 ％,when 106 cells were acquired ; the sensitivity of the method established could reach 0.01％.The fluorescent intensity decreased along with the time after Nalm-6 cell marked,but less than 10％ in 24 hours.Using the antibody combinations and analyze strategy,the immunophenotye of B lymphocyte in normal bone marrow presented four sequential stages:Stage Ⅰ CD45low/CD10stro/CD20 -/CD38stro/CD34 + or cTdT +,Stage ⅡCD45 +/CD10 + / CD20 -/CD38stro/CD34+ or cTdT +,Stage Ⅲ CD45 +/CD10 +/CD20 -/CD38stro/CD34 -or cTdT-,Stage Ⅳ CD45stro/CD10 -/CD20 +/CD38low/CD34or cTdT.Antigen expressions of leukeamic cells of B-ALL primary or recurrent were different compared with control team; there were 5 cases with MRD positive in CR team,and the main antigen expression was consistent with the results from 4c-FCM.The range of the percent of MRD cells was 0.02％ - 5.42％ of the 5 cases of MRD positive.ConclusionsThe new method of two tube 8c-FCM established shows good reproducibility and high accuracy,and can identify normal B lymphocyte populations in bone marrow and regenerated B-precursors in CR cases with MRD cells;compared with 4c-FCM,the new method of two tube 8c-FCM with the fewer specimen is faster and efficient to diagnose MRD of B-ALL.

Objective To analyze nucleic acid sequence homology of the 6 kb(pYC) plasmid of Yersina. pestis (Y. pestis) isolated from Yurman by searching GenBank. Method The search of sequence similarity was accomplished with BLAST. Results The pYC plasmid sequence had high homology with some genes in nueleotide sequence, such as: 97.1% homology with Shigella sonnei pKYM, 92.1% homology with Haemophilus influenzae(H. influenzae) gene, Salmonella typhi (S. typhi) gene LT2 and plMVSI with 88.2% and 87.2% of homology respectively, Escherichia coli(E, coli) O157:H7 and K-12, ECOR31 with 81.4%, 81.4% and 84.7% of homology respectively. This plasmid ORFs could code for some proteins which were similar with others in GenBank, such as: ORFi and H. paragallinarum replication protein B(47.2%), ORF4 and E. coli hypothetical protein(52.7%), ORF5 and Y. pseudotuberculosis Tile (48.3%), ORF6 and E. coil Pilx5/VirB5-1ike protein (42.3%), Y. enterocolitica TriD protein(38.5%), ORFIO and S. typhimurium LT2, E. coli O157:H7 hypothetical protein(83.1% and 81.9%, respectively), ORF11 and E. coli, damage-inducible protein J(81.4%). Conclusions The pYC plasmid sequence has high homology with a few bacterial genes of Enterobacteriaceac. This plasmid may code for some proteins that are similar with hypothetical protein, damnge-indncible protein, TriD and TilE protein, Pilx5/VirB5-hke protein of Escherichia or Yersinia.

Objective To investigate the feasibility of discriminating different solutions and solutions with different concentrations using gemstone spectral imaging (GSI).Methods Glucose solutions (GSs)with different concentrations (5%,10%,15%,20% g/mL)and 0.9% normal saline(NS)were scanned at a CT scanner with GSI model.Spectral analysis software was used to generate spectral curves of different solutions,representing as CT values on monochromatic images(40~140keV).The same procedure was repeated 3 days later.Reliability analysis with intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC)was used to evaluate the agreement between the twice CT scans.Nonlinear regression analysis was used to generate the regression equation of spectral curves of each solution.One-way ANO-VA was performed to compare the slopes,asymptotes and intercepts of each solution.Results Reliability analysis showed excellent agreements between the twice CT scans for each solution (ICC>0.9).The regression equation was expressed as:f(keV-40)=α-(α-β)×e [-(keV-40)×ρ],where f(keV-40)represented CT values on each monochromatic images,αrepresented asymptotes,βrepre-sented intercepts,ρrepresented slopes of each solution.Statistical differences were found among the slopes of NS and those of GSs with different concentrations (P <0.05),while no statistical differences were found among the slopes of different GSs (P >0.05). The result was highly suggestive that different ingredient solutions demonstrated different shapes of spectral curves.The asymptotes and intercepts of GSs with different concentrations were statistically different (P <0.05).The heights of the spectral curves of GSs elevated with the increase of the concentration.Conclusion Spectral curve with GSI model can be used to discriminate between NS and GSs,or even GSs with different concentrations.It provided a promising potential for in vivo body fluid analyses.
