AIM: To establish identification and determination methods for aristolochic acids. METHODS: The extracts of the sample were developed on silica gel G F254 plate, using supernatant layer of the mixture of toluene-ethyl acetate-water-formic acid (20 ∶10 ∶1 ∶1) as the mobile phase. Chromatogram system:gradient elution with mobile phase consisting of (A) 1% acetic acid in water and (B) methanol was used. The initial condition was at 40% of B and gradient up to 100% B in 15 minutes before returning to the initial conditions. Detection was at 310 nm. The column temperature was set at 40℃ and flow-rate was set at 1.0 mL/min. RESULTS: TLC:the Rf value of aristolochic acid Ⅰ was 0.50 and aristolochic acid Ⅱ was 0.53. The results of assay were shown as follow: The average recovery of aristolochic acid Ⅰ was 103.3% (RSD=0.98%). The average recovery of aristolochic acid Ⅱ was 95.97% (RSD=1.2%). CONCLUSION: It reveals that the methods we described are accurate, rapid and reproducible.

Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2011;10(6):415-417
In total, 607 bedridden patients aged 60 years and over at Tianlin community hospital and four other hospitals or at home-care in Shanghai were investigated with questionnaire, physical examinations and related laboratory tests. Contents of investigation include general situation, medical conditions, 24-hour recall of diet, intake of nutritional supplement preparation, and so on. As compare to the reference for nutrient intake of the elderly set in the Guide to Diet for Chinese Residents (2007), total nutritional intake was obviously insufficient and three nutrients in diet were imbalanced for most bedridden elderly patients. Intake of most nutrients (including proteins, dietary fiber, calcium, iron, zinc, selenium, copper, magnesium, phosphor, retinol equivalent, vitamin B1 , vitamin B2, vitamin C) was obviously low in bedridden elderly patients, with a larger gap from the requirements of the Dietary Guide.

Objective To study the technical method and clinical value of butt joint of PTBD and ERCP to the treatment of malignant obstructive jaundice, and summarize the nursing experience. Methods By using nursing procedures to conclude the seventeen patients with malignant obstructive jaundice weretreated by butt joint of PTBD and ERCP after the ERCP failure. Results All 17 cases were succeed, and recovered well without nursing complications. Conclusions Butt joint of PTBD and ERCP to the treatment of obstructive jaundice is a new method while ERCP failed , this method has good clinical value, so it's significant to summarize the perioperation period nursing experience in order to help patients underwent the operation.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the reversal effect of Buzhong Yiqi Decoction (BYD) on multidrug resistance of human adenocarcinoma of lung cell line A549/DDP, and to study its effect on the expression of survivin by using serum pharmacological methods in vitro. Methods Totally 24 SD rats were divided into the high, medium and low dose groups, and the blank control group by randomized controlled method. The high dose BYD containing serum (1. 134 g/mL, 2 mL), the middle dose BYD containing serum (0.576 g/mL, 2 mL), and the low dose BYD containing serum (0.284 g/mL, 2 mL) were prepared. The inhibitory effects of different dose and concentrations BYD on the proliferation of A549 and A549/DDP cells were detected by MTT assay, and the drug resistance reversal fold was calculated. The expression of Survivin in the two cell strains were detected respectively by immunohistochemical assay, Western blot, and immunofluorescence method.
RESULTSBYD containing serum showed obvious inhibitory effect on the growth of A549 and 549/DDP. The inhibition rates of 10% dose groups were higher than those of 5% dose groups. Besides, it gradually increased along with increased concentrations. Compared with 10% blank control group, the inhibition rate increased in 10% middle and low dose groups (P <0.05). After acted with 10% middle dose BYD containing serum, IC50, of A549 and A549/DDP were both reduced (P <0.05), reversal fold (RF) both increased. Its reversal ratio on A549/DDP cells was 2. 46, decreasing the resistance of A549/DDP to DDP. Compared with A549 in the same group, the expression of Survivin was detected to decrease by immunocytochemical assay, Western blot, and immunofluorescence method (P<0.05). Compared with 10% blank control group, the inhibition rate decreased in 10% middle dose group (P <0. 05).
CONCLUSIONS10% middle dose BYD containing serum could significantly inhibit the apoptosis of A549 and A549/DDP. Besides, it could moderately reverse the multidrug resistance of A549/DDP cells to DDP possibly through reducing the intracellular expression of Survivin and enhancing the sensitivity 549/DDP to chemotherapeutics.

This study is designed to explore the possible effects of Hemerocallis citrina baroni flavonids (HCBF) on liver fibrosis induced by CCl4 in rats. The liver fibrosis model was induced by CCl4, and HCBF were administered by gastric perfusion at 25 and 50 mg x kg(-1) qd for 50 days, while the contents of alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), gamma glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), superoxide dismutase (SOD), maleic dialdehyde (MDA) and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) were measured and the contents of PINP were measured in liver tissue, and the expression of TGF-β1 were observed by immunohistochemisty and Western blot. The pathological changes of liver tissue were examined by HE. The results showed that HCBF (25, 50 mg x kg(-1)) improved the liver function significantly through reducing the level of ALT, AST, GGT and ALP (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01), and increasing the content of SOD (P < 0.01), while reducing the content of MDA (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01), the expression of TGF-β1 (P < 0.05) and the content of PINP (P < 0.05). The results suggest that HCBF (25, 50 mg x kg(-1)) may inhibit the liver injury induced by CCl4 by decreasing the oxidative stress.

Chinese Journal of Modern Nursing 2013;19(10):1148-1150
Objective To study the related factors of hyponatremia in the elderly patients with chronic heart failure in order to provide evidences for preventing and nursing of hyponatremia. Methods Clinical data of 143 patients over 65 years old were investigated. The patients were divided into hyponatremia group (n =47)and control group (n =96).There were 29 cases with more than 80 years older and 19 cases with 65-79 years older in hyponatremia group. The data from the two groups were compared. Results The patients in hyponatremia group were significantly older than these in control group [(88.5 ± 4.8) vs (82.5 ± 7.5),t =4.895,P <0.01),and the incidences of hypertension, pneumonia, diabetes and acute heart failure,as well as the usage of diuretics and nasogastric tubes in hyponatremia group were significantly higher than that in the control group(x2 =26.034,14.492,5.385,10.881,12.674,5.389;P < 0.05).Very elderly patients needed longer time to achieve normal natrium level in blood serum than that elderly patients (t =5.069,P < 0.01).Conclusions Hyponatremia of the elderly patients with chronic heart failure was related to hypertension, pneumonia, diabetes, acute heart failure, usage of diuretics and nasogastric tubes. The symptoms of hyponatremia in very elderly patients is atypical, which are very likely to be neglected. We should pay more attention to the special population.
