10 years. Pulmonary functions were determined routinely and followed for 10 years. Results Comparison between the values of pulmonary functions at the beginning and end of a 10- year follow-up showed very significant difference in the groups of Ⅲ, Ⅳ and Ⅴ. Among the parameters examined, FEV_1, PEF, MMEF, and MVV showed significant increase in these 3 groups (P

Objective To evaluate the influence of the preparation-to-colonoscopy interval, diet control and excise on bowel preparation quality in the split-dose method for colonoscopy. Methods Observational study, prospective cohort study design, three bowel preparation methods were set up in different departments for A, B, C 3 groups, each group of 110 cases. In group A, no movement was required. Diet preparation was 3 days earlier than the examination, and take all the medicine in once at 20:00 the day before examination, group B, 1 L medicine required for 20 minutes movement, diet preparation was 1 day earlier than the examination, and take the medicine in twice the day before examination at 14:00, group C, keep walking during taking the medicine, diet preparation was 1 day earlier than the examination, and took all the medicine in once the day before examination at 20:00. The Boston Bowel Preparation Scale was used to evaluate the bowel cleansing quality. A questionnaire was administered to investigate patients′tolerability and safety. Results A total of 330 consecutive patients undergoing colonoscopy. There was no significance among three groups on bowel cleansing quality(P>0.05). However, the number ofexcellently cleanedwas higher in group B than the others, in group A,B and C respectively 30, 46, 29 cases, the difference was significant (χ2=7.627, P=0.022). Group B was superior to the others in terms of comfort, sleep quality, hunger, and discomfort, the difference was significant (χ2=19.425, 6.687 and 8.130, P < 0.01 or 0.05). Group B was also superior to the others in terms of the compliance of completing the preparation under the doctors′advice (χ2=14.756, P=0.001) and exercises (χ2=11.848, P=0.001). Conclusions The new method shortened the time of the diet control and set the exercises time to 20 minutes. So it was found to have a higher level of safety, bowel preparation quality and tolerability.

OBJECTIVE To analyze the adverse drug reactions of 6 kinds of quinolones in order to provide information for clinically rational use of drugs.METHODS The adverse drug reactions of quinolones such as norfloxacin, ofloxacin, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, fleroxacin and rufloxacin used in outpatients during Feb to May 2007 were collected and retrospectively analyzed.RESULTS The main adverse drug reactions were seen in gastrointestinal system, nervous system, immune system, respiratory system, urinary system etc. From them the symptoms of gastrointestinal system and nervous system were prominent.CONCLUSIONS In use of quinolones it should think highly to their adverse drug reactions.

Objective To assess the contractility of levator ani muscle in postpartum female using pelvic floor three-dimensional ultrasound and to provide an effective imaging basis for the change of levator ani muscle contractility in postpartum female. Methods Totally 75 postpartum women (55 underwent spontaneous vaginal delivery and 20 underwent selective cesarean delivery) and 40 nulliparas were examined by pelvic floor three-dimensional ultrasound. The images were obtained at rest and at maximal levator ani muscle contraction. The sagittal hiatal length (L) on the two-dimensional sagittal images, the area of levator hiatus (A) and the circumference of levator hiatus (C) were measured on the three-dimensional images, and the difference value between rest and contraction were calculated to get the △L,△A,△C.Then the △L,△A,△C between different groups were compared. Results The △L,△A,△C in spontaneous vaginal delivery group and selective cesarean delivery group were smaller than those in nulliparas group (P <0.05),and there was no statistical difference between spontaneous vaginal delivery and selective cesarean delivery group (P > 0.05).Conclusions Three-dimensional ultrasound can effectively assess the the contractility of levator ani muscle, the levator ani muscle contractility of postpartum female was poorer than nulliparas, and between spontaneous vaginal delivery and selective cesarean delivery women there is no obvious difference.

Medical preparedness and response to radiation emergency are challenged by the fast development of nuclear energy and nuclear technology, the rapid use of radiological source and devices, and terrorist threats involving radiological material. Against this background, hospitals play a vital role in medical response to radiation emergency. In this article, we discussed the hospital's responsibility in medical response to radiation emergency, and raised a series of requirements to the medical bases engaged in radiation emergency, which cover the planning, personnel, facilities, equipments and drugs stockpiling, and medical management technique of such bases. Adequate preparedness in advance makes the best guard for such bases, to effectively handle nuclear and radiological emergency, minimizing casualties and health damage and protecting people's health and safety.

Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2000;0(11):-
Nitric oxide (NO) is a multifunctional biomolecule involved in a variety of physiological and pathological processes, including regulation of blood vessel dilatation and function as a neurotransmitter. However, a large amount of NO is toxic to the host and causes several diseases such as cardiovascular system diseases, septic shock, and diabetes mellitus. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress pathway was first identified as a cellular response pathway induced by the accumulation of unfolded proteins in ER to preserve ER functions. Later it was found that ER stress pathway is also activated by various cellular stresses to protect cells, but when stresses are severe, apoptosis is induced to remove damaged cells. It is reported that NO disturbs ER functions, then ER stress-mediated apoptosis pathway is activated. CHOP/GADD153, which belongs to C/EBP transcription factor family, is induced in this process and mediates apoptosis. ER stress pathway induced by NO is involved in the pathogenesis of various diseases.

selenomethionine.Although the structure of selenomethionine and methionine are similar, the electron supply ability of selenomethionine is lower than that of methionine. Conclusion Methionine as electrons provider could accelerate the photolysis of VB2 to generate ?O 2,but selenocystine, selenomethionine and cystine could directily scavenge ?O 2 generated by VB2.

Objective To develop a highly sensitive luminescent reagent for bloodstain testing at forensic crime scenes. Methods Based ontheprincipleof ECL luminescence and the ping-pong conjugate activation principle of chemical electronic chain, this project developed a new type of highly sensitive luminescent reagent for bloodstain testing by usingthe uniform design of experimental methods to optimize the conditions andsynthesize several new compounds. Results The bloodstain testing luminescent reagentdeveloped in this project has high sensitivity andlongluminescence time.In the case of blood samples diluted by 1,000 times, reading the fluorescence withChemiScope 3300 chemiluminescence imaging system, the maximumvalue of gray scale reached 56,and the luminescence time lasted for 10 minutes. Conclusion The project has successfully developed a highly semitivebloodstain testing reagentthat could be applied to crime scene investigation.
