OBJECTIVEThis study aims to determine the effect of fluoride concentration on the corrosion behavior of cobalt-chromium alloy fabricated by two different technology processes in a simulated oral environment.
METHODSA total of 15 specimens were employed with selective laser melting (SLM) and another 15 for traditional casting (Cast) in cobalt-chromium alloy powders and blocks with the same material composition. The corrosion behavior of the specimens was studied by potentiodynamic polarization test under different oral environments with varying solubilities of fluorine (0, 0.05%, and 0.20% for each) in acid artificial saliva (pH = 5.0). The specimens were soaked in fluorine for 24 h, and the surface microstructure was observed under a field emission scanning electron microscope after immersing the specimens in the test solution at constant temperature.
RESULTSThe corrosion potential (Ecorr) value of the cobalt-chromium alloy cast decreased with increasing fluoride concentration in acidic artificial saliva. The Ecorr, Icorr, and Rp values of the cobalt-chromium alloy fabricated by two different technology processes changed significantly when the fluoride concentration was 0.20% (P < 0.05). The Ecorr, Icorr, and Rp values of the cobalt-chromium alloy fabricated by two different technology processes exhibited a statistically significant difference. The Icorr value of the cobalt-chromium alloy cast was higher than that in the SLM group cobalt-chromium alloy when the fluoride concentration was 0.20% (P < 0.05). The Ecorr, tRp alues of the cobalt-chromium alloy cast were lower htan those of the SLM group cobalt-chromium alloy when the fluoride concentration was 0.20% (P< 0 .05).
CONCLUSIONFluoride ions adversely affected the corrosion resistance of the cobalt-chromium alloy fabricated by two different technology processes. The corrosion resistance of the cobalt-chromium alloy cast was worse than that of the SLM group cobalt-chromium alloy when the fluoride concentration was 0.20%.

Objective:To investigate the efficacy and safety of ketogenic diet (KD) therapy in the epilepsy of infancy with migrating focal seizures (EIMFS) associated with TBC1D24 gene mutation. Methods:Clinical data of two children with TBC1D24 gene-related EIMFS were collected retrospectively, who were admitted to Department of Pediatrics, Fujian Medical University Union Hospital from 2019 to 2020. Their clinical characteristics and the efficacy and safety of KD therapy were analyzed, and literature review was conducted. Results:Seizures were onset before six months old in the two children with TBC1D24 gene-related EIMFS. Multifocal myoclonic seizures were manifested and happened frequently, lasting for more than 30 minutes sometimes. Developmental retardation was obvious in the two children. A small amount of focal sharp, spike, sharp-slow complex, and spike-slow complex waves were showed in the interictal electroencephalography (EEG). TBC1D24 gene mutations were found in the two children, one with a compound heterozygous mutation (c.1025C>T, p.S342L; c.229_c.240delATCGTGGGCAAG,p.I77_K80del), and the other with a homozygous mutation [c.119G>A,p.R40H(Arg40His)]. Both of those were potentially pathogenic. A variety of anti-epileptic drugs showed poor outcome for the two children. The epilepsy was drug-refractory one. After four to 17 months of KD therapy, the epilepsy in the two children was controlled effectively. There was not obvious adverse reactions. Among six children with TBC1D24 gene-related EIMFS in the literature review, four cases were effective or partially effective for KD therapy, one was discontinued due to insufficient ketogenic ratio, and one was discontinued without effect. There were no obvious adverse reactions in the six children.Conclusions:TBC1D24 gene-related EIMFS is mostly drug-refractory epilepsy. Early KD therapy may help to control seizures.

Objective To explore influencing factors for complete resection and operation time of endoscopic submucosal dissection( ESD) for colorectal tumors. Methods This retrospective study included 95 consecutive colorectal tumors in 88 patients whose pathological diagnosis was adenoma and carcinoma, treated with ESD at the Department of Endoscopy of the First Hospital of Jilin University from January 2013 to December 2014. Multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted on the factors related to complete resection and operation time. Results Average tumor size was 28. 7±14. 1 mm(range,8?80 mm), and the average procedure time was 80. 72±63. 90 min. The rate of complete resection was 92. 6%(88/95),and the rate of incomplete resection was 7. 4%(7/95). Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that fibrosis (P=0. 012,OR=52. 473, 95%CI:2. 571?1140. 438) contributed to incomplete resection. Fibrosis ( P=0. 001, OR=0. 045, 95%CI:0. 007?0. 289) ,tumor size ( P=0. 035,OR=0. 170, 95%CI:0. 033?0. 884) ,granular?type laterally spreading tumor ( P=0. 013, OR=34. 432, 95%CI:2. 138?554. 476 ) , non?granular?type laterally spreading tumor(P=0. 044,OR=31. 715, 95%CI:1. 093?919. 904) were independent factors for extending operation time of colorectal ESD. Conclusion The severer fibrosis can induce higher rate of incomplete resection. The more severe fibrosis is, the larger tumor size is, and the longer operation time is.

Objective:To investigate the effect of LINC00261 on the radiosensitivity of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and tumor formation and its underlying mechanism in nude mice.Methods:qRT-PCR was used to detect the relative expression levels of miR-620 and LINC00261 in radiosensitive and radioresistant nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues. After the 6-10B and HNE-3 cells were irradiated with 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 Gy 60Coγ-ray, the relative expression levels of miR-620 and LINC00261 were measured by qRT-PCR. After over-expression or silencing of LINC00261 and inhibition of miR-620 expression, the cells were irradiated with 4 Gy 60Coγ-ray. Clone formation assay was performed to detect the radiosensitivity of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells. Flow cytometry was used to detect cell apoptosis. Western blot was utilized to detect the expression levels of Cleaved caspase-3 and Cleaved caspase-9 proteins. Luciferase reporter assay was adopted to analyze the targeting relationship between LINC00261 and miR-620. The changes in tumor formation were observed in tumor-bearing nude mice. Results:Compared with the radiosensitive tissues, the expression of LINC00261 was significantly down-regulated, whereas that of miR-620 was significantly up-regulated in radioresistant tissues (both P<0.05). After different doses of irradiation, the expression of LINC00261 was significantly down-regulated, whereas that of miR-620 was significantly up-regulated in 6-10B and HNE-3 cells (both P<0.05). After overexpression of LINC00261 and interference with miR-620 expression, the expression levels of Cleaved caspase-3 and Cleaved caspase-9 were significantly up-regulated (both P<0.05), the cell apoptosis rate was remarkably increased ( P<0.05) and the cell survival fraction was significantly enhanced in 6-10B and HNE-3 cells ( P<0.05). LINC00261 targetedly regulated the expression of miR-620. Overexpression of miR-620 could attenuate the radiosensitization and pro-apoptotic effects of LINC00261 overexpression on nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells. LINC00261 overexpression could significantly reduce the tumor formation weight of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in nude mice ( P<0.05). Conclusion:Overexpression of LINC00261 can increase the radiosensitivity of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells probably by targeted regulation of miR-620 expression.
