International Eye Science 2007;7(1):43-45
AIM: To report the use of modified four ports pars plana vitrectomy in managing a dislocated posterior chamber intraocular lens.METHODS: A young man with bilateral pseudophakia and dislocated PC-IOLs had undergone modified four ports pars plana vitrectomy in relocating a dislocated posterior chamber intraocular lens. This procedure was surgically less tedious and demanding compared with previous methods of IOL retrieval.RESULTS: No significant intra- or post-operative complication was noted. The visual recovery of the operated eye was rapid with the best corrected visual acuity at 14 months post-operation being 0.5. In contrast, the right eye without operation due to patient refusal developed total retinal detachment with hand movement visual acuity.CONCLUSION: Modified four ports pars plana vitrectomy may be a more ophthalmic surgeon friendly alternative in the retrieval of dislocated IOL.

Objective To study the mandibular anterior alveolar morphological characteristics of skeletal ClassⅢmalocclusion patients by CT quantitative research , which can provide guidances and indications for clinical skeletal Class Ⅲmalocclusion treatment and prevent iatrogenic complications , such as rootabsorption. Method 25 skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion patients during thepostpubertal were selected , three-dimensionalspiralCTscanning was applied to measure cortical and cancellousbonethickness around 6 mandibular incisors for analyzing the relationship between the bone mass and its anatomyaround the mandibular incisors roots. Results (1) The bone thickness around the lower anterior homonym teeth was basically symmetric in the skeletal Class III malocclusion. The labial thickness is a little less than the lingual side , gradually thickening along the root apical direction; (2) The area of mandibular incisors was inhomogeneous , and the 1/2 regional cancellous bone thickness of mandibular incisors was often lacked. Conclusion (1) The synchronous compensation of the teeth and alveolar bone is the significant feature of the skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion. (2) The responding regions ofthe alveolar bone in the 1/3 labial-cervical and root-tip may be the sensitive areas during the orthodontic treatment.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2015;29(9):784-799
OBJECTIVE:
To study the pulmonary function and nasal resistance characteristics of patients with chronic nose-sinusitis and nasal polyps (CRSwNP), to explore the evaluation role of nasal resistance in nasal ventilation function and the effect of endoscopic sinus surgery on pulmonary function in patients with CRSwNP.
METHOD:
Fifty CRSwNP patients that met the study criteria were selected . The patients were performed endoscopic surgeries according to Messerklinger surgical procedures under general anesthesia. Extent of surgery was based on preoperative CT showing the range of the lesion of disease and endoscopic findings. Perioperative treatments contained intranasal corticosteroids, cephalosporin or penicillin antibiotics, nasal irrigation and other treatments. Main outcome measures included visual analog scale (VAS), endoscopic Lind-Kennedy scores, nasal resistence, pulmonary function in patientsone week before and after surgery, three months and six months after surgery. Pulmonary function includes forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), forced vital capacity FEV1/FVC and peak expiratory flow (PEF).
RESULT:
The study found that there were significantly positive correlations among VAS score, Lund-Kennedy score and nasal resistance (P < 0.05) in CRSwNP patients, but there is a significantly negative correlation between VAS score, Lund-Kennedy score, nasal resistance and pulmonary function indexes of FEV1, FVC and PEF (P < 0.05). The VAS score, Lund-Kennedy score and nasal resistance values of CRSwNP patients were decreased significantly after comprehensive treatments with nasal endoscopic operation as the major one, the difference was statistically different (P < 0.05). And the pulmonary function indexs (FEV1, FVC, PEF) were significantly increased after surgery in CRSwNP patients.
CONCLUSION
The nasal resistance can objectively and reliably reflect the degree of nasal congestion and the recovery of nasal function in CRSwNP patients after endoscopic sinus surgery. The detection method of nasal resistance is simple. Functional endoscopic sinus surgery can effectively improve the pulmonary ventilation function in CRSwNP patients, providing some clinical references about the prevention and treatment of CRS related lower respiratory disease.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2020;18(5):379-383
Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of acupoint injection with salmon calcitonin for back pain in elderly patients with primary osteoporosis. Methods: A total of 76 patients were selected and randomly divided into two groups by the random number table method, with 39 cases in the treatment group and 37 cases in the control group, respectively. Patients in both groups received routine anti-osteoporosis treatment. Patients in the treatment group received additional acupoint injection with salmon calcitonin at bilateral Pishu (BL 20) and Shenshu (BL 23), while patients in the control group received additional intramuscular injection with salmon calcitonin. The treatments for both groups were given once a day and lasted for 4 weeks. Visual analog scale (VAS) and Chinese Oswestry disability index (CODI) scores were observed before treatment, after 2 weeks and 4 weeks of treatment, and the use of analgesics during the treatment were recorded. Results: After treatment, the clinical efficacy in the treatment group was more significant than that in the control group (P<0.05). After 2 weeks and 4 weeks of treatment, the VAS scores in both groups showed significant intra-group and between-group differences (all P<0.05), and the CODI scores in both groups showed significant intra-group differences (all P<0.05). After 2 weeks of treatment, the CODI score showed no significant between-group difference (P>0.05). After 4 weeks of treatment, the improvement of CODI score in the treatment group was more significant than that in the control group (P<0.05). During the treatment, 2 cases in the treatment group took analgesics versus 8 cases in the control group, and the result showed a significant between-group difference (P<0.05). Conclusion: For back pain in elderly patients with primary osteoporosis, based on the routine treatment of oral medication, the clinical efficacy of acupoint injection with salmon calcitonin at bilateral Pishu (BL 20) and Shenshu (BL 23) is more significant than that of intramuscular injection. Acupoint injection treatment can improve patients' conditions and reduce the use of analgesics.

Clinical Medicine of China 2009;25(6):641-643
Objective To investigate the relationship between the biological characteristics and the expres-sion of stromlysin (MMP-7) and microvessel density (MVD) in breast cancer tissue and the effect of MMP-7 on MVD of breast cancer. Methods 60 fresh samples were obtained from patients with breast cancer, and then the ex-pression of MMP-7 and vascular endothelial cell CD34 were studied by means of immunohistochemical assay (SP method). The relationship between MMP-7, MVD and age, tumor size, histological type, lymph node metastasis and expression of ER, PR, PCNA, p53 and CerbB2 was studied. The relationship between the biological characteristics and the expression of MMP-7 and MVD in breast cancer were evaluated. Results The positive expression rote of MMP-7 in the d>2 cm group, the group with lymph node metastasis, the group with positive expression of PCNA, p53 and C-erbB-2 (78.1%,74.2%,71.8%,67.6% and 72.2%)were all higher than that in the d≤2 cm group, the group without lymph node metastasis, the group without positive expression of PCNA,p53 and C-erbB-2(32.1%, 41.3%,38.1%,38.5% and 33.3%) (P<0.05). MVD was higher in the positive breast cancer tissue of the group of d>2 cm(34.61±6.97), the group with lymph node metastasis (34.37±7.50), PCNA ( 33.24±8.39), p53 (33.28±8.94), C-erbB-2 (33.55±8.57) than in the negative breast cancer tissue of the d≤2 cm group ( 28.60±9.82), the group without lymph node metastasis (27.48±8.66), PCNA (26.88±7.89), p53 (21.71± 7.59),C-erbB-2(27.42±27.69) (P<0.05). MVD(33.62±7.36)/ high power lens in the MMP-7 positive group was higher than that (27.86±9.45)/high power lens in the MMP-7 of negative group(P<0.05). The posi-tive expression of MMP-7 was correlated with MVD (r=0.380, P<0.05). Conclusion The high expression of MMP-7 and MVD is associated with the development and metastasis of breast cancer. MMP-7 could promote the mi-crovessel development in mammary cancer.
