1.The characteristics of affective intensity and cognitive emotion regulation in borderline personality disorder

Objective To examine the characteristics of affective intensity and cognitive emotion regulation in subjects with borderline personality disorder ( BPD) . Methods The BPD subscale of personal-ity disorder questionnaire( PDQ-4+) was used to assess the BPD symptoms,the short affective intensity scale (SAIS) and cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire (CERQ) were used to measure affect intensity and cognitive emotion regulation strategy,respectively. 765 subjects with BPD and 776 healthy controls were se-lected. The independent-samples t test was used to analyze the differences between BPD group and controls and logistic regression analysis was used to examine the related factors affecting the BPD. Results Com-pared with the control group(negative intensity:(3.08±0.66),negative coping dimension:(37.20±5.94), BPD group got higher scores in negative intensity((3.88±0.74), t=22.29, P<0.01,Cohen''s d>0.8)and negative coping dimension((44.77±6.36), t=24.16, P<0.01,Cohen''s d>0.8). The logistic regression anal-ysis showed that negative intensity(B=1.38,Exp(B)=3.97,95%CI for EXP(B):3.15~5.00, P<0.01) and negative cognitive regulations strategy(B=0.19,Exp(B)=1.21,95% CI:1.18-1.25, P<0.01) could affect the prevalence of BPD. Conclusion Subjects with BPD traits have more significant negative affective inten-sity and tend to use negative cognitive regulations strategy.
2.Clinical analysis of 80 perinatal death from hepatic diseases in pregnancy.

OBJECTIVETo explore the factors associated with perinatal death of hepatic diseases in pregnancy (HDIP) and make feasible suggestions and measures for perinatal care of high risk patients.
METHODSThe 80 perinatal death cases of hepatic diseases in pregnancy (HDIP) during 1991-2000 in our hospital were analyzed retrospectively.
RESULTSThe perinatal mortality of HDIP in our hospital during the last 10 years was 17.99 approximately 65% was in utero death. Perinatal mortality was different between male (21.64%) and female (10.11%) (P<0.01). Compared first 5 years with last 5 years author found that the perinatal mortality of HDIP had no significant decrease (P>0.05). The perinatal mortality in city and suburbs had decreased, while in the floating population from other provinces the perinatal mortality had increased. The perinatal death was mainly caused by pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) and asphyxia. But for the HBV carrier mothers the causes of death included umbilical cord problems, premature rupture of membrane and asphyxia.
CONCLUSIONSThe perinatal death mortality was increased by HDIP, deaths were essentially associated with pregnancy induced hypertension and asphyxia and the floating population and male gender were high risks. To enhance the management of HDIP or immigration, take effective therapies of hepatitis and improvement of resuscitation of newborns are critically important.

3.Design, synthesis and hypoglycemic activity of alpha-benzylsuccinic acid derivatives.

Based on the SAR of glinide agents, mitiglinide has been modified to study the SAR of glinides. a-Benzylsuccinic acid derivatives which were designed and synthesized in order to find some more hypoglycemic active agents and further investigate the SAR of this class of compounds. From ethyl succinate and substituded benzaldehydes, twelve new target compounds were synthesized by codensation, hydrolysis, anhydridization, amidation and hydrogenization reactions, and their hypoglycemic activity were evaluated with glucose oxidase kit. All the compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR and ESI-MS. The preliminary pharmacological test showed that the compounds have good hypoglycemic activity, especially 6c, 6e and 6g, 6e showed the same hypoglycemic potency as nateglinide.

4.A series of observation on the expression of TGF-beta1 in the lung of nitrofen-induced congenital diaphragmatic hernia rat model.

OBJECTIVETo access the expression of transforming growth factor beta1 (TGF-beta1) in the lung of Nitrofen-induced congenital diaphragmatic hernia rat model.
METHODSTwelve timed-pregnant Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into two groups, namely control group and CDH group on day 9.5 of gestation. Each rat in the CDH group was given 125 mg of Nitrofen (dissolved in seed fat) by gavage. Each rat in the control group was given the same dose of single oil. On day 16 of gestation, the two groups mentioned above were divided into three subgroups, and fetuses were delivered by cesarean section respectively on day 16, 18 and 21 of gestation. After the fetuses were checked for diaphragmatic hernia, lung tissue weight (LW) and body weight (BW) of each fetus on gestational day 21 were recorded. Lung histologic evaluations were made with microscope and TGF-beta1 immunohistochemistry staining were performed with image analyzing.
RESULTSAt day 16 of gestation, no visible diaphragm closure was observed in all fetuses. Diaphragmatic hernia was observed in 32 of the 44 rat fetuses of the CDH groups on day 18 and day 21 of gestation (72.7%). Lw/Bw of the 21d subgroups of CDH group were lower than those of corresponding control group (P < 0.01). Observed under the microscope, the lungs of fetuses in CDH groups showed marked hypoplasia. The expression of TGF-beta1 was detected in cytoplasmic, without definite expression in nuclear. It was significantly stronger that the expression of TGF-beta1 was in the lungs of the CDH group than that of the control group (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONSNitrofen interferes with lung development in early stage of the fetal before the diaphragm developed. TGF-beta1 would be one of the important factors which lead to pulmonary hypoplasia.

5.Effect of Radix Paeoniae Rubra on the expression of HO-1 and iNOS in rats with endotoxin-induced acute lung injury.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of Radix Paeoniae Rubra (RPR) on the expression of heme oxygenase (HO-1) and induced nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in endotoxin-induced acute lung injury in rats and its protective mechanism.
METHODSForty Wistar rats were divided randomly into 5 groups with 8 rats in each group: saline control group (NS group), lipopolysaccharide group (LPS group), RPR-treatment group, RPR-prevention group and Hemin group. The effect of RPR on protein content, the ratio of neutrophiles in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, malondialdehyde (MDA) content in the lung and the activity of serum NO were observed. Arterial blood was drawn for blood-gas analysis. The expression of HO-1 and iNOS in lung tissues was detected by immunohistochemistry and morphometry computer image analysis. The histological changes of the lung were observed under light microscope.
RESULTSCompared with that in NS group, the expression of HO-1 and iNOS was markedly increased in LPS group (P<0.01). In RPR-treatment, RPR-prevention, and Hemin groups, the expression of iNOS was significantly lower, while the expression of HO-1 was higher than that in LPS group (P<0.05). The protein content, the ratio of neutrophiles in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, the content of MDA and the activity of serum NO in LPS group were significantly higher than those in NS group (P<0.01). There was a significant decrease in the level of arterial bicarbonate and partial pressure of oxygen in the LPS group (P<0.01); these parameters of lung injury however, were significantly lower in RPR-treatment, RPR-prevention, and Hemin groups than LPS group (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The pathologic changes of lung tissues were substantially attenuated in RPR-treatment, RPR-prevention, and Hemin groups than LPS group.
CONCLUSIONSThe high expression of HO-1 reflects an important protective function of the body during lipopolysaccharide-induced acute lung injury. The protective effect of RPR on lipopolysaccharide-induced acute lung injury is related to the inhibition of iNOS expression and the induction of HO-1 expression.

6.Uroflowmetry and its influence factors in benign prostate hyperplasia patients.

OBJECTIVE:
To determine the relationship between uroflowmetry and age, the course of disease, premicturition volume, transition zone index and proportion of stroma-to-epithelium in benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) patients.
METHODS:
Eighty-nine BPH patients in our hospital from 2000 to 2003 were evaluated. With the CMM3 pathology image analysis system, transrectal ultrasound and Dantec 2000 urodynamic instrument, the value of influence factors was determined. A linear regression was applied to analyze all the data by SPSS software.
RESULTS:
The flow rate was correlated to premicturition volume ( r = 0. 477, P < 0.01) and proportion of stroma-to-epithelium significantly ( r = - 0.437, P < 0.05) , but was not correlated to the age, the course of disease and transition zone index significantly. The parameter of flow rate/premicturition volume had no difference in 3 micturitions in all patients.
CONCLUSION
The parameter (flow rate/premicturition volume)could be used to evaluate the micturition status of the BPH patients whose bladder volume is less than 200 ml. We should pay more attention to receptor blockers when we treat BPH patients.

7.Dynamic distribution of the avian infectious bronchitis virus isolate strain Jin-13 in SPF chickens.

This study aimed to understand the dynamic distribution of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) Jin-13 strain in SPF chickens. Ninety-day-old SPF chickens were inoculated with Jin-13, a virulent strain, and dissected at day 1, 4, 7, 10, 14, 21, 28 or 35 post-inoculation (dpi). Samples of heart, liver, spleen, lung, trachea, kidney and duodenum were collected and the N gene was detected by Sybr Green I real-time quantitative RT-PCR assays. The established method had a good linear correlation from 7.77 x 10(8) to 10(0) copies/microL. SPF chickens developed typical clinical signs of IBV at the 4th dpi, and the IBV viral concentration of tissues and organs gradually increased with a peak of up to 7.13 x 10(4) copies/microL. The viral concentration of most organs decreased by the 10th dpi, but those of the kidney, trachea and lung remained positive for IBV at 28 dpi and the heart was still positive for IBV at > 35 dpi. The results of this study, showed that the Jin-13 strain can cause prolonged virus excertion in chickens with severe renal damage.

9.Relationship between the efficacy of inhaled corticosteroids and the leukotriene expression in children with asthma.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the relationship between leukotriene expression in blood polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNL) and the efficacy of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) in children with asthma.
METHODSThirty-two children with asthma (5-12 years) and ten healthy children (control group) were enrolled. The asthmatic children were subdivided into ICS well-controlled and ICS poorly-controlled groups based on their clinical symptoms and lung function. The level of leukotriene C4 synthase (LTC4S) mRNA in PMNL was detected by fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction. The level of LTC4S mRNA was expressed by the value of qCt, and the value of qCt was diversely correlated with the level of LTC4S mRNA expression. The concentration of urinary leukotriene E4 (LTE4) was measured using ELISA.
RESULTSThe expression of LTC4S mRNA in PMNL was significantly higher in children with asthma (qCt: 1.12+/-0.27) than that in the control group (qCt: 1.42+/-0.12; P< 0.05). The expression of LTC4S mRNA in PMNL in the ICS poorly-controlled group (qCt: 1.03+/-0.17) was significantly higher than that in the ICS well-controlled group (qCt: 1.24+/-0.33; P< 0.05) and the control group(1.42+/-0.12; P< 0.01). There was no significant difference in the level of urinary LTE4 among the the ICS poorly-controlled, the ICS well-controlled and the control groups.
CONCLUSIONSLTC4S mRNA expression in PMNL in asthmatic children increases, and the LTC4S mRNA expression in the ICS poorly-controlled group is higher than that in the ICS well-controlled group. This suggests that an increased leukotriene expression might be associated with poorly-controlled asthma.

10.Neuroprotection of chloride channel blockers against NMDA-induced apoptosis of cultured rat hippocampal neurons.

Activation of N-methyl-d-aspartic acid (NMDA) receptor plays an important role in neuronal apoptosis induced by cerebral ischemia but the underlying mechanisms are still unclear. The present study examined the neuroprotection of three chloride blockers in an in vitro cell model of cerebral ischemia established by treatment of cultured rat hippocampal neurons with NMDA. Hoechst 33258 staining and MTT assay were used to detect neuronal apoptosis and cell viability, respectively. The neuroprotective effects of chloride channel blockers on the cell viability and neuronal apoptosis were only observed when the blockers were applied before NMDA exposure. In comparison with DIDS, SITS showed more potent protective effect in a dose-dependent manner, whereas NPPB showed no significant neuroprotective effect. The results demonstrate that pretreatment with both SITS and DIDS have protective effect against neuronal apoptosis, which is achieved by blocking both NMDA receptor and chloride channel.
