Cerebral venous and sinus Thrombosis (CVST) is a rare ischemic cerebrovascular disease, the lesions of 60% patients are involved in multiple venous sinus,of which the superior sagittal sinus thrombosis is most common. The pathogenesis and pathophysiology of CVST has not yet been fully elucidated, and the establishment of stable and ideal animal models can provide a basis for the study of its development, prognosis and efficacy assessment. This article summarizes the characteristics and advantages of several available CVST models, but each method has its own limitations. Therefore, the establishment of a more ideal animal model will help to fully understand the pathogenesis and pathological process of CVST.

This study investigated the effect of arctigenin (Arc) on the cell activation, cytokines expression, proliferation, and cell-cycle distribution of mouse T lymphocytes. Mouse lymphocytes were prepared from lymph node and treated with Phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (PMA)/Ionimycin (Ion) and/or Arc. CD69, CD25, cytokines, proliferation and cell cycle were assayed by flow cytometry. The results showed that, at concentrations of less than 1.00 micromol x L(-1), Arc expressed non-obvious cell damage to cultured lymphocytes, however, it could significantly down-regulate the expression of CD69 and CD25, as well as TNF-alpha, IFN-gamma, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6 and IL-10 on PMA/Ion stimulated lymphocytes. At the same time, Arc could also inhibit the proliferation of PMA/Ion-activated lymphocytes and exhibited lymphocyte G 0/G1 phase cycle arrest. These results suggest that Arc possesses significant anti-inflammatory effects that may be mediated through the regulation of cell activation, cytokines expression and cell proliferation.

OBJECTIVETo trace magnetically labeled MSCs transplanted into the rat livers by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
METHODSFeridex and DAPI labeled rat mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were injected via portal veins into carbon tetrachloride treated rats. MRI was performed with a clinical 1.5 T MRI machine immediately before the MSCs injection and at h 1, d 3, d 7, and d 14 after the injection, and then the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) was measured. MRI findings were compared with the liver histopathologies after the slides were stained with fluorescence dye and Prussian blue.
RESULTSThe SNR for liver was 1.10+/-0.26 at hour 1, 8.18+/-1.55 at day 3, 11.08+/-1.30 at day 7, and 14.15+/-1.02 at day 14 respectively. Within 7 days after the MSCs transplantation, the SNRs of the livers were significantly lower than those before the transplantation (P less than 0.05). Histologically, the blue fluorescent particles under the fluorescence microscopy matched in distribution with the iron particles on the Prussian blue stained slides.
CONCLUSIONThe magnetically labeled MSCs transplanted into livers give rise to an obvious signal decrease, and can be tracked with a 1.5 T clinical MRI machine for up to 7 days after MSCs transplantation.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2013;27(5):236-238
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the clinical features, the CT, MRI features and therapeutic strategy of nasal neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC).
METHOD:
A retrospective study was carried out on 6 cases of NEC. 2 were female and 4 were male. Routine preoperative CT and MRI examination were performed. In one case, the tumor had invaded the brain and then was treated in department of oncology. Five cases were undertaken tumor resection under nasal endoscope, and combined with postoperative chemoradiation therapy.
RESULT:
The postoperative pathological report of 1 cases was large cell type, the remaining 4 cases were small cell type. One case treated in department of oncology had lived for 2 month with tumor in his body. One cases relapsed and died at 4 month after postoperation, 1 case was lost and 3 case did not relapse till now.
CONCLUSION
NEC of paranasal sinuses is malignant, but early detection, early diagnosis and treatment can improve the prognosis of this disease. For limited lesion of NEC, nasal endoscopic operation is an effective, safe and minimally injury method.

Oncoplastic breast surgery (OBS) using omentum has been developed in the past 20 years. This study reviewed related clinical researches at home and abroad. It summarized the surgical indications, criteria of cosmetic evaluation for omentum mammary tumor, the methods of harvesting omentum and the selection of tissue flaps. Meanwhile, postoperative complications, tumor safety, advantages and disadvantages of different methods were evaluated.

OBJECTIVETo construct the localization system involving anti-TfR monoclonal antibody (McAb) and AFP promoters and assess its effect on human hepatoma cell lines.
METHODSThe conjugate of anti-TfR McAb and polylysine (PLL) was made by SPDP and purified by molecular screen chromatography. DNA blocking test determined that the ratio of one pEBAF/tk to six Ab-PLL was the most suitable to couple them. The pEBAF/tk recombinant plasmid bearing HSV-TK gene was coupled to Ab-PLL by noncovalent bond. The pEBAF/tk was transferred into human hepatoma cell line HepG2, SMMC7721 and pulmonary cancer cell line A549 by receptor-mediated gene delivery (Ab-PLL-DNA) and liposome procedure. The growth inhibitory rates of HepG2, SMMC7721 and A549 cells were measured by MTT assay.
RESULTSThe inhibitory rates of HepG2/tk in 100 mg/L and 1 mg/L of GCV were 60.5% and 24.3%, respectively. The inhibitory rate of GCV to SMMC7721 was 23.2% in 3 days. The pulmonary cancer cell A549, A549/tk (Ab) and A549 /tk (lipo) could not be inhibited by the addition of GCV.
CONCLUSIONThe localization system employed in this paper has high specificity, effectiveness and safety for gene therapy. It would be a promising strategy for gene therapy.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy and safety of using Jiangzhi Tongluo Soft Capsule (JTSC) combined with Atorvastatin Calcium Tablet (ACT) or ACT alone in treatment of combined hyperlipidemia.
METHODSA randomized, double blinded, parallel control, and multi-center clinical research design was adopted. Totally 138 combined hyperlipidemia patients were randomly assigned to the combined treatment group (A) and the atorvastatin treatment group (B) by random digit table, 69 in each group. All patients took ACT 20 mg per day. Patients in the A group took JTSC 100 mg each time, 3 times per day. Those in the B group took JTSC simulated agent, 100 mg each time, 3 times per day. The treatment period for all was 8 weeks. Serum levels of triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) were observed before treatment, at week 4 and 8 after treatment; and safety was assessed as well.
RESULTSAt week 4 and 8 after treatment serum TG decreased by 26.69% and 33.29% respectively in the A group (both P < 0.01), while it was decreased by 25.7% and 22.98% respectively in the B group (both P < 0.01). At week 8 decreased serum TG was obviously higher in the A group than in the B group (P < 0.05). Compared with before treatment, serum levels of LDL-C and TC levels decreased significantly in the two groups (all P < 0.01). There was no statistical difference in the drop-out value and the drop-out rate of serum LDL-C and TC levels (P > 0.05). At week 8 the serum HDL-C level showed an increasing tendency in the two groups. No obvious increase in peptase or creatase occurred in the two groups after treatment.
CONCLUSIONJTSC combined with ACT could lower the serum TG level of combined hyperlipidemia patients with safety.
