Perioperative nutrition support may be required when the synthesis and utilization of nutrients become disordered due to gastrointestinal abnormalities and trauma anesthesia. Proper nutrition support can reduce or prevent malnutrition, and thus facilitate the recovery and lower complications and case-fatality rate.

Objective: To analyze the chemical constituents of the essential oil extracted from the seeds of Myristica fragrans Houtt.(nutmeg) in Indonesia and to provide qualities control scientific foundations.Methods: The essential oil was extracted by steam distillation and separated with GC capillary column.The relative content of every compound was determined by normalization method and the chemical compositions were evaluated by GC-MS.Results: Ninety-three chromatographic peaks were isolated and sixty-one compounds were identified,accounting for 97.62% of the total essential oil in nutmeg.Conclusion: The essential components of nutmeg in Indonesia is monoterpenoids and it's derivatives,accounting for 78.87% of the total essential oil.And phenolic compounds were the secondary composition,accounting for 16.79%.The essential oil contains safrole,which can induce genetoxicity and mutagenicity in animal,and myristicin and elemicin which can induce illusion.So,it must be careful when Myristica fragrans Houtt was used.

Objective To study the protective effect of total glucosides of Mudan cortex(TGM) on acute myocardial ischemia in mice and its mechanism. Methods The total of 60 mice were randomly divided into 5 groups (n = 12),normal control and model control (were given equal capacity of 0.9% sodium chloride solution),and TGM at low,middle,high dose (were given with 50,100,200 mg?kg-1 TGM).The mice were administered once daily for consecutive seven days.After the last administration,the mice in the model control and drug groups were treated by intraperitoneal injection of 15 mg ? kg-1 isoproterenol to to make myocardial ischemia animal model. TGM on the T wave and J point on ECG, and serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH),myocardial tissue superoxide dismutase (SOD),malondialdehyde (MDA) changes was detected,and the extent of myocardial ischemic injury in mice was measured by Nagar-Olsen staining. Results TGM significantly reduced the displacement of ECG T wave and J point,and improved the related biochemical indexes in mice with myocardial ischemia.The activity of LDH [(898.992± 285.108) μmol?mg-1 ] ,the content of MDA [(11.737 ±5.162) nmol?mg-1 ]in mice treated with TGM at high dose obviously decreased in comparison to the model controls,and the activity of myocardial SOD [(45. 505 ± 20.711) U?mg-1 ] significantly elevated compared with the model control.It was showed that TGM significantly diminished the areas of cardiac muscles ischemia injured via Nagar-Olsen staining. Conclusion TGM has the remarkable protective effect on acute myocardial ischemia injury in mice.

Objective To establish a method of HPLC for determining the Paeonol in Shengui Tiaojing Pill. Method Agilent Hypersil-ODS-C18 (250 mm?4.0 mm, 5 ?m) was used, the mobile phase consisted of methanol-H2O (70∶30). The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min. The detecting wave length was at 274 nm. Results The method was linear at the range of 0.052～0.84 ?g for Paeonol (r=0.999 9). The average recovery was 99.94%. Conclusion The method is simple, sensitive, accurate and can be applied to the quality control of Paeonol in Shengui Tiaojing Pill.

Objective To compare diffenrent amounts of the glycyrrhizic acid extracted by two methods-decoct method and Ammonia-water method.Methods The best extraction conditions including amount of affusion water and solvent,extraction time,boiling time,crash time,vibrating time and concentration of ammonia were choosed by orthogonal design.Amounts of the glycyrrhizic acid were determined by ultraviolet spectrophotometry at 252 nm wavelengh.Result The best extraction conditions from decoct method were that amount of affusion wate was 200 mL,extract 2 times,boiling time was 5 min,crash time was 20 s.The best extraction conditions from Ammonia-water method were that amount of 0.4% ammonia was 200 mL,vibrating time was 2 h,extract 2 times.The extraction rate of Ammonia-water method was 32%,and the extraction rate of decoct method was 26%.Conclusion For glycyrrhizic acid extraction and purity,Ammonia-water has superior efficient than decoct method at the best conditions.

Objective To know the drinking water quality in villages of Tongzhou District,Beijing and provide the basic data for government. Methods 623 wells in 455 villages were sampled in 2004 and the water samples were tested with the national standard methods. Results 166 of 623 water samples were up to standard,the qualification rate was 26.65%. The drinking water quality of all villages was different,in Maqiao(58.62%) and Liyuan(76.92%) it was better than that in Xiji,Huoxian,Zhangwan,Songzhuang. The qualification rate in Xiji was only 10.26%. In the present investigation,24 water quality parameters were tested and 14 parameters exceeded the limit,such as NH3-N,iron,total bacterial count,coliform group,fluoride and arsenic. Some sanitary problems were also found. Conclusion The ground water in Tongzhou has been contaminated,especially the shallow layer ground water,more attention must be paid to improvement of drinking water quality in these villages.

ObjectiveTo explore the application of peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC)and central venous catheter (CVC) in the surgical parenteral nutrition.MethodThe operation time,success rate,indwelling duration,abnormal biopsy,and adverse reactions of PICC and CVC were retrospectively compared.ResultsCVC had significantly shorter operation time than PICC groups [ (28.67 ±5.13) min vs.(45.20 ±6.89)min,P =0.035 ).The mean indwelling duration was significantly longer in PICC group than in CVC group [ ( 114.85 ± 10.29) d vs.(24.78 ± 8.42) d,P =0.033 ].PICC group was superior to CVC group in terms of five complication items,while only phlebitis was more frequent/severe in CVC group.ConclusionsPICC may be more suitable for long-term ( ＞4 weeks) catheter-based nutrition.CVC has short operation time and fast flow rate,and therefore is most suitable for rescue treatment for critically ill patients.

There are many problems existing in humanities and social science courses in education and teaching of medical colleges and universities.Changing concepts of education,adjusting the curriculum,improving teaching methods and improving the quality of teachers are effective measures in medical colleges to strengthen the humanities and social science courses.We have made a preliminary exploration on teaching practice for humanistic education and professional education.
