Journal of Practical Stomatology 2010;26(2):240-243
Objective:To evaluate the changes in the transverse dimension and the perimeters of the maxillary archs produced by 3 self-ligating appliance systems during the leveling and aligning phases. Methods: 45 patients who had class I skeletal pattern and upper arch crowding 3-6 mm were divided into 3 groups with 15 subjects in every group. The dental casts were analyzed. Results: Statistically significant increases were recorded of all dentoalveolar widths (with the exception of intermolar width measured lingually) and arch perimeters. The increase in arch perimeter showed a significant negative relationship with the individual perimeter of the maxillary arch before treatment. No significant change was found in arch depth. Conclusion: The self-ligating appliance systems produce statistically significant increases in the transverse dentoalveolar width and the perimeter of the maxillary arch during the leveling and aligning phases of treatment.

The pooled weighted sensitivity and specificity was 0.81 (95%CI 0.77-0.85) and 0.83 (95%CI 0.78-0.87), respectively;and the pooled positive and negative likelihood ratio was 4.81 (95%CI 3.65-6.33) and 0.22 (95%CI 0.18-0.28), respectively. The area under the curve of the summary receiver operating characteristic was 0.8968±0.0151. Conclusion ASE is medium to highly accurate in the diagnosis of CHD.
5.Analysis of Pathogens and Drug Resistance of Bacteria in Lower Respiratory Tract Secretions of Children with Pneumonia in Chongqing
Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1994;0(04):-
Objective To investigate the pathogens and drug resistance of bacteria in children with pneumonia in Chongqing by using antibiotic reasonably. Methods Bacteria identification antibiotics sensitivity test were performed in samples of lower respiratory tract secretions from 780 cases by microscan automatic analysis machine. At the same time, respiratory virus, chlamydial and mycoplasmal pneumoniae were tested. Results The pathogens were found in 433 cases.Three hundred and sixty-four strains bacteria were isolated,116 cases were infected by virus and 26 cases by mycoplasmal pneumoniae. The resistant rates of staphylococcal and Klebsiella pneumoniae were high. The resistant rate of Streptococcus pneumoniae to penicillin was high.Haemophilus parainfluenzae was sensitive to cephalosporins. Conclusions In Chongqing, children′s pneumonia is mainly caused by bacteria. The sensitivity of antibiotic varies from different bacteria.Finding pathogens and monitoring drug resistance have taken great advantage to antibiotic selection and have prevented rapidly growing of resistant strains.
6.Hallux valgus treated by Reverdin operation
Chinese Journal of Orthopaedics 1996;0(09):-
Objective To describe the Reverdin technique for treatment of hallux valgus (HV) based on correction of proximal articular set angle (PASA). Methods Thirty-one Reverdin osteotomies (in 31 feet of 17 female patients)were performed between 1992 and 1998. Reverdin operation is unique among the surgical procedures for its ability to correct large PASA with a medial wedge-type osteotomy of the metatarsal head. Results On the follow-up of 1 to 8 years, patients rated outcomes as excellent or good in 96% (30 feet). There was no complication of delayed union or avascular necrosis of the metatarsal head. Radiographical follow-up: PASA averaged 19 degrees(range 30-12 degrees), had a postoperative averaged value of 1.95 degrees, HV angles averaged 30 degrees(range 41-23 degrees), had a postoperative value of 14.3 degrees. Intermetatarsal angles averaged 10.9 degrees (range 16-4 degrees), had a postoperative value of 5.8 degrees. Conclusion The preoperative PASA value is the most important factor in hallux valgus evaluation, as well as the selection of operative techniques. The normalization of PASA safegurds more successes and less recurrences.
7.Mechanism of Reduced Urinary Albumin Excretion in Patients with Early Diabetic Nephropathy by Alpha-lipoic Acid
China Pharmacist 2014;(2):250-251,252
Objective:To investigate the effects of alpha-lipoic acid on urinary albumin excretion in the patients with early diabetic nephropathy (DN). Methods:Totally 103 patients with early DN were randomly divided into the control group (n=59) and the treat-ment group ( n=44 ) . The two groups were both treated with dietary control and hypoglycemic drugs. The patients in the treatment group were given alpha-lipoic acid 450 mg·d-1 by intravenous infusion for 10 days on the basis of the initial therapy. The levels of HbA1c, BP, lipids, urinary 8-OHdG, urinary MCP-1 and urinary albumin were determined. Results:Compared with those in the con-trol group, urinary 8-OHdG, MCP-1 and urinary albumin were decreased significantly after alpha-lipoic acid treatment. The changes in HbA1c, BP and lipids were not significant. Conclusion:Aalpha-lipoic acid can decrease urinary albumin and 8-OHdG by lowering the expression of ROS and MCP-1.

Objective To explore the feature of clinical and laboratory and therapy in childern with idiopathic pulmonary hemosiderlsis(IPH).Methods The clinical and laboratory datas of 50 cases with IPH were studied from Jan.1996 to Jan.2006.The hemogram, the metabolism of ferrum, the cellular test of bone marrow, finding the hemosiderin cells in sputum or gastric juice or bronchovesicular juice and ma-nifestation were analyzed. Results IPH were often found in children aged 6 to 14 years old.Coungh and spitting blood and anemia were the most important clinical feature.X-ray manifestations were various. The diagnosis of IPH was based on clinical feature and finding out the he-mosiderin cells in sputum or gastric juice or bronchovesicular juice.X-ray and CT manifestations were important. At the same time, the secon-dary IPH was removed. The clinical symptom of IPH were relieved by using adrenal cortical hormone. Conclusions There is no specificity in children with IPH.X-ray,CT manifestations and finding the hemosiderin cells in sputum or gastric juice are helpful in diagnosis.Using adrenal cortical hormone will release symptom and prognosis.
9. Effects of berberine on lipid metabolism and vitamin D receptor as well as insulin-induced gene 2 gene expression of rabbits
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2011;42(8):1566-1570
Objective: To investigate the effects of berberine on lipids metabolism of hyper-lipidemic rabbits and to explore whether its mechanism was involved in the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene and insulin-induced gene 2 (Insig-2) gene expressions in adipose. Methods: Forty male New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into five groups: normal diet (ND), high-fat diet (HFD); high-fat diet + pretreatments of either Fenofibrate (30 mg/kg) or berberine low dose (28 mg/kg, BLD), and berberine high dose (112 mg/kg, BHD) groups. The serum TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, ApoA1, ApoB, and LPa in each different treated rabbit group were determined after 8-week administration. The mRNA expressions of VDR and Insig-2 in adipose tissue were quantified by RT-PCR. Results: Compared with normal diet group, the serum TC, TG, LDL-C, ApoB, and LPa in high fat diet group obviously elevated (P < 0.05), while ApoA1 obviously descend (P < 0.05). Compared with the high fat diet group, the levels of serum TC, TG, LDL-C, ApoB, and LPa in berberine treated group were significantly decreased (P < 0.05), while ApoA1 was elevated obviously (P < 0.05). The result of RT-PCR demonstrated that the mRNA expressions of VDR and Insig-2 in high fat diet group were significantly higher than those of the normal diet group (P < 0.05), and the VDR and Insig-2 mRNA expressions were significantly up-regulated by berberine (P < 0.05), especially in BLD. Conclusion: Berberine could significantly decrease the levels of blood lipids of the hyperlipidemic rabbits, the mechanism may be related to elevating the expressions of VDR and Insig-2 gene.
10.Senescence or Tumor:The Dual Role of Activated-oncogene Induction
Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(12):-
The activation of oncogenes occured in most tumors, and is believed to play an important role in tumorigenesis. However, the activation of oncogenes could induce cellular senescence in wild type cells, known as oncogene-induced senescence (OIS). Thus, the activation of oncogenes has the dual role in inducing cellular senescence or tumorigenesis. DNA damage checkpoint response (DDR) is the molecular signal transduction pathway that delay or arrest cell cycle progression in response to DNA damage and is an important molecular mechanism that induce cellular senescence. Activation of oncogenes could produce DNA damage signals and initiate DDR,which subsequently induce cellular senescence. However, when DDR pathway is deficient, activation of oncogenes could induce unlimited DNA hyper-replication and cellular hyper-proliferation,which results in accumulation of genome instability, and tumorigenesis ultimately. Therefore, the dual role of activated oncogenes is regulated by the integrity of DDR pathway. The key role of DDR in regulating activated oncogenes indicates that maintain or restore the integrity of DDR pathway might provide a new strategy in cancer prevention and therapy.
