[ ABSTRACT] AIM:To study the effects of soybean isoflavones on mitochondrial ultrastructure, neuronal apopto-sis and expression of cytochrome C, caspase-9 and caspase-3 in the rats with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion.METHODS:Adult healthy SD rats ( n=60 ) were randomly divided into 3 groups: sham group, ischemia/reperfusion injury ( I/R ) group and soybean isoflavone ( SI) pretreatment group.Soybean isoflavones (120 mg· kg-1 · d-1 ) were fed by gastric lav-age for 21 d.The global ischemia/reperfusion model of the rats was established by blocking 3 vessels, and then reperfused for 1 h after 1 h of ischemia. The morphological change of the cerebral cortex cells was observed under light microscope. The mitochondrial ultrastructure of the cerebral cortex cells was determined by transmission electron microscope. The apop-totic rate of the cerebral cortex cells was detected by flow cytometry. The expression of cytochrome C, caspase-9 and caspase-3 in the cerebral cortex cells was determined by semi-quantitative RT-PCR and immunohistochemical techniques. RESULTS:Disintegration of mitochondria membrane and disappearance of the mitochondrial cristae were seen in I/R group.Compared with I/R group, the change of ultrastructure of mitochondria was significantly improved by soybean isofla-vone pretreatment, and the neuronal apoptotic rate was also significantly decreased (P<0.01).The mRNA expression and protein content of cytochrome C, caspase-9 and caspase-3 in I/R group were obviously higher than those in sham group ( P<0.01).Compared with I/R group, the mRNA expression and protein content of cytochrome C, caspase-9 and caspase-3 in SI group were significantly decreased (P<0.01).CONCLUSION: Soybean isoflavones attenuate cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury by stabilizing the structure of mitochondria, preventing cytochrome C release to the cytoplasm, inhibiting the activation of caspase-9 and caspase-3 and decreasing cell apoptosis.

Objective To evaluate MRI in judging the therapeutic effect of argon-helium cryoablation therapy for prostate cancer. Methods The clinical data and imaging materials of 16 patients with prostate cancer , who had received ultrasound-guided argon-helium knife cryogenic treatment at authors ’ hospital during the period from March 2012 to Oct. 2014, were retrospectively and comprehensively analyzed. The preoperative and postoperative laboratory test results were compared with MRI findings, and the ablation effect was assessed, focusing on the surgical residue, metastasis, etc. Results One months after the surgery, MRI demonstrated that satisfactory ablation extent was obtained in all patients, the ablated tumor tissue was characterized by long-T2 signal and no obvious recurrence could be found on DWI and DCE-MRI. A slight decrease of PSA level was observed. Six months after the surgery, MRI revealed that the prostate size was significantly reduced, PSA level was markedly decreased and no obvious evidence of recurrence was observed. No severe postoperative complications, such as urethral necrosis, urethral stricture or urethro-rectal fistula, occurred. During the 6-month following-up time, one patient died from other causes. Conclusion MRI has excellent clinical application value in estimating the ablation extent and in judging postoperative recurrence or metastasis of prostate cancer after argon-helium cryoablation treatment.

Objective To understand the health literacy status, influencing factors and demand carrying out the health education based on the mobile terminal among college students to provide a new idea for formulating and implementing the health literacy promotion plan for university students. Methods The multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method was adopted to extract 1 949 students from partial universities in Nanjing City and conduct the investigation by adopting the Rapid Estimate System of Health Literacy and Health Education Demand Based on the Mobile Terminal Questionnaire of College Students. The influence factors were analyzed by using the univariate analysis and ordinal multi-classification Logistic regression analy sis. Results The university students with high, marginal and low health literacy level accounted for 31.3%,48.9% and 19.8% respectively. The proportions of the students with high health literacy in the four dimensions, including health knowledge, health behaviors, health skill and health status, were 57.9%,18.3%,61.0% and 44.5% respectively. The ordinal multi-classification Logistic regression analysis showed that the major influence factors affecting the health literacy of university students were gender, education background of mothers, majors, grades, electively taking the health education course.81.2 % of university students wanted to or urgently wanted to understand the health literacy knowledge. The main route getting the health literacy knowledge by the university students was network(83.8%).91.8% of students were willing to learn the health literacy knowledge through mobile terminal.87.1% of students believed that the WeChat was suitable to learn the health knowledge,81.3% of students hoped to use the WeChat platform for learning the health knowledge,73.8% of students hoped the Wechat to push the health knowledge with the modes of words combined with images and video. It was recommended that the health knowledge pushing for 1-3 times per week was suitable. Conclusion The health literacy of university students is at the marginal level. The health behaviors literacy is most lacking and the demand for the health education based on the mobile terminal is stronger. The health literacy intervention of university students should sufficiently apply the new media platform superiority and the emphasis should be placed on the populations of males, low education background mothers,non-medicine major, low grade and without electively taking the health education course.

Purpose To investigate the clinical value of artificial intelligence(AI)quantitative parameters in predicting the invasion degree of lung adenocarcinoma with diameter≤2 cm of ground-glass density.Materials and Methods A total of 80 patients with lung adenocarcinoma with diameter≤2 cm ground-glass density confirmed by pathology from March 2019 to April 2022 were retrospectively analyzed.A total of 90 nodules were rerolled, including 8 adenocarcinomas in situ(AIS),34 minimally invasive adenocarcinomas(MIA)and 48 invasive adenocarcinomas(IAC).They were divided into the experimental group(IAC)and the control group(AIS and MIA).The differences of the AI quantitative parameters such as volume,three-dimensional length diameter, maximum area, maximum CT value, minimum CT value and average CT value were compared between two groups, and the predictive values of AI quantitative parameters for the invasion degree of lung adenocarcinoma was evaluated. Results There were statistically significant differences with age,volume,three-dimensional length diameter, maximum area, maximum CT value and average CT value between the two groups(all P<0.05),but no statistically significant differences in gender and minimum CT value(both P>0.05).Binary Logistic regression analysis showed that the three-dimensional length diameter(odd ratio=2.020,P=0.034)and the maximum CT value(odd ratio=1.008,P=0.013)were independent predictors for lung adenocarcinoma with diameter≤2 cm of ground-glass density. The regression model based on the three-dimensional length diameter and the maximum CT value had the best predictive performance, and its AUC was 0.901.When the critical value was 2.432,its sensitivity and specificity were 93.75%and 71.43%,respectively.Conclusion AI quantitative parameters have a high value in predicting the degree of invasion of lung adenocarcinoma with diameter≤2 cm of ground-glass density, and the combined model with three dimensional long diameter and maximum CT value has the highest diagnostic efficiency.
