Journal of Chinese Physician 2011;13(1):23-25
Objective To explore the preliminary significance of overexpressed MUC-1 mRNA in the pathogenesis of lung adenocarcinoma. Method Total RNAs of 23 paired fresh lung samples and lung adenocarcinoma samples were extracted by routine Trizol way. After total RNAs were transcribed into cDNA, the expression of MUC-1 gene was detected in these samples by real-time PCR. Finally, the correlation of MUC-1 expression with the pathogenesis of lung adenocarcinoma was analyzed. Result Compared with normal lung tissues, the expression of MUC-1 in 20( 87% ) lung adenocarcinoma samples was markedly increased. Compared with early and mid-stage lung adenocarcinoma samples,. the overexpressed MUC-1 in late stage lung adenocarcinoma samples was increased by 2.2 folds. In addition, compared with primary lung adenocarcinoma samples without lymph node metastasis, MUC-1 mRNA was increased in primary lung adenocarcinoma samples with lymph node and distant metastasis ( 2.5 folds). Conclusion Overexpressed MUC-1 may participate in the pathogenesis of lung adenocarcinoma.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2015;(9):781-783
[Summary] A total of 1 510 subjects undergoing physical examination in the Central Hospital of Xuzhou were included in this study. According to the level of TSH, the subjects were divided into low TSH group(0. 30-0. 99 mIU/L,n=351), moderate TSH group(1. 00-1. 89 mIU/L, n=703), and high TSH group(1. 90-4. 80 mIU/L, n=456). Analysis of variance and linear regression were used for data analysis. The results showed that systolic blood pressure ( SBP) , diastolic blood pressure ( DBP) , triglyceride ( TG) , and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol( HDL-C) revealed significant differences among 3 group(P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). In the univariate linear regression model, serumTSHwithinthereferencerangewasnegativelyassociatedwithSBPandDBP(P<0.05orP<0.01),and positively associated with TG and HDL-C (P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). However, the correlations disappeared after adjustment for gender, age, body mass index, fasting plasma glucose ( FPG ) , and TG. In the multiple linear regression model, a significant negative correlation of TSH with SBP and FPG was found in males(P<0. 05).

BACKGROUND:The relationship between the occurrence time and clinical symptoms of bone marrow edema in nontraumatic femoral head necrosis is stil controversial. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the relationship of bone marrow edema in nontraumatic femoral head necrosis with Association Research Circulation Osseous (ARCO) staging and pain grading. METHODS: Forty-eight patients with nontraumatic femoral head necrosis (58 hips) were confirmed to have bone marrow edema on MRI T1 weighted images and T2 fat suppression images. Then, the patients were graded according to the MRI Classification Method reported by Zhao Pei-rong, the ARCO Staging System and Harris hip score for pain grading. We analyzed the correlation of bone marrow edema with ARCO staging and pain grading. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The incidence rate of bone marrow edema in ARCO I-III was increased in sequence, and the difference was statisticaly significant (χ2=27.69,P=0.001); the average rank of bone marrow edema in ARCO I-III was increased significantly (χ2=19.947,P=0.000). The incidence rate of bone marrow edema also increased among different pain grading, and the difference was statisticaly significant (χ2=57.0, P=0.000); the average rank of bone marrow edema among different pain grading was increased significantly (χ2=174.0,P=0.000). The presence and aggravation of bone marrow edema indicate the enlargement of necrosis area and the aggravation of symptoms in patients with nontraumatic femoral head necrosis, which can be used as an auxiliary index for the appraisal of disease progression.

Chinese Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2012;20(2):88-92
ObjectiveTo observe the effect of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) on the proliferation and apoptosis of human gastric cancer cells and to explore the potential mechanism involved.MethodsHuman gastric cancer cell lines SGC-7901 and MGC-803 were treated with EPA at 10,20,40 μg/ml for 24-72 hours. The inhibition of cell proliferation was evaluated by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium assay. The apoptosis and the distribution of cell cycle were analyzed by flow cytometry.Mitochondria membrane potential was determined with a fluorescence probe rhodamine 123.Cellular distribution of cytochrome C was quantitatively detected with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Caspase-3 activity was measured with spectrofluorometry.ResultsAfter incubation with 10-40 μg/ml EPAfor 24-72 hours, the proliferation of human gastric cancer cells was markedly inhibited in a time-dependent manner. The treatment of 40 g/ml EPA for 72 hours increased the proportion of G0/G1 phase cells in both SGC-7901 and MGC-803 (P=0.006,P=0.009).In SGC-7901 and MGC-803 cells incubated with 40 μg/ml EPA for 24 hours, mitochondria membrane potential decreased significantly (P =0.001,P =0.047 ); cytochrome C level significantly declined in mitochondria (P=0.001,P=0.000) but increased in cytosol (P =0.001,P=0.000).In SGC-7901 cells, the apoptotic effector caspase-3 activity increased time-dependently along with incubation with 40 g/ml EPA.ConclusionEPA could inhibit the proliferation and promote the apoptosis of human gastric cancer cells through inducing cell cycle arrest and activating intrinsic death pathway mediated by mitochondria.
