International Eye Science 2015;(7):1165-1167
AlM: To comprehensively evaluate of visual quality after epipolis laser in situ keratomileusis ( EPl-LASlK) in mild to moderate myopia.METHODS: Sixty cases ( 120 eyes ) undergone EPl-LASlK with equivalent diopter ( SE ) were divided into two groups:mild myopia group (60 eyes) and moderate myopia group ( 60 eyes ) . Objective visual acuity, aberration, contrast sensitivity and glare sensitivity were measured before and 1wk; 1, 6mo after operation, and made comparative analysis. RESULTS: Postoperative uncorrected visual acuity ( UCVA ) of two groups were better than that of preoperative(P<0. 05). Postoperative 6mo, there were significant differences on total high RMS between two groups ( P < 0. 05 ). Before operation and 6mo after operation, higher - order aberrations had statistically significant difference between two groups (P<0. 05). After 1wk and 1mo, there were statistical significances at the five frequencies between two groups (P<0. 05). After 6mo, the mild myopia group returned to preoperative levels, however, moderate myopia group in the high frequency region ( 18. 0c/d ) had significant difference with before surgery (P<0. 05). 1wk after surgery, there were statistically significant differences on the 3. 0, 6. 0, 12.0, 18. 0c/d frequency in both groups (all P<0. 05), 1mo after surgery, there were significant difference at 12.0, 18.0c/d frequencies (all P<0.05), after 6mo, both groups returned to preoperative levels, showed no significant difference.CONCLUSlON:Visual quality is poorer in mild myopia patients than that in moderate myopia at early stage after EPl-LASlK. Better visual quality is observed at mid-late stage.

Objective To make a nationwide external quality assessment for drug sensitivity testing of Neisseria gonorrhoeae, analyze the problems in and factors associated with the drug sensitivity testing, and to enhance the quality of drug sensitivity testing of N. gonorrhoeae at different monitoring sites. Methods Samples were uniformly delivered to monitoring sites by express mail service. Test results were analyzed in the National Center for STD Control, and the evaluation results were fed back to these monitoring sites. Results A total of 105 quality control samples were delivered from 2007 to 2009, with a response rate of 88.57% (93/105). Thirteen monitoring sites were enrolled in the external quality assessment, including 9 laboratories in 2007, 9 in 2008 and 13 in 2009. The total percentage amounted to 77.42% (24/31) for qualified laboratories during the 3 years, including 6 laboratories in 2007, 7 in 2008 and 11 in 2009. The coincidence rate increased for the detection of penicillinase-producing N. gonorrhoeae (PPNG), N. gonorrhoeae with chromosome-mediated ciprofloxacin resistance, and N. gonorrhoeae with chromosome-mediated spectinomycin resistance, and declined for the detection of N. gonorrhoeae with plasmid-mediated high level tetracycline-resistance (TRNG) and N. gonorrhoeae with chromosome-mediated ceftriaxone resistance. Conclusions The 3-year external quality assessment reveals an improvement in the overall quality of drug sensitivity testing of N. gonorrhoeae at national monitoring sites; the accuracy is improved markedly for the detection of PPNG, N. gonorrhoeae with resistance to spectinomycin and ciprofloxacin, but is needed to increase for the detection of ceftriaxone-resis- tant N. gonorrhoeae and TRNG.

Objective To explore the effects of atmospheric haze and air pollutants(PM10, PM2.5), SO2, NO2 on hospital visits for cardiovascular diseases. Methods The relationship among atmospheric haze, air pollution and the outpatients data of Guangzhou for cardiovascular disease had been investigated by collecting the air pollution data, the meteorological data and cardiovascular diseases’ outpatients data in Guangzhou city from January 1, 2006 to December 31,2008 . The time-series analysis by auto-regression model was used, controlling for long -term trends, seasonal patterns and meteorological variables. Results Auto-regression model showed that the number of outpatients in 2008 was higher than that in 2006.The number was larger in April and December compared with that in January, and it was higher on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday than on Saturday, Sunday. There was a positive correlation between the haze level and cardiovascular outpatients. The number of hospital outpatients increased by 2.12 units with each additional day of the atmospheric haze. The haze level (lag2) of the former second day had a negative impact on the intraday data of outpatients. The residual parts showed that outpatients’ residual data (AR1, AR3) of the former first and third day had a positive effect on intraday outpatients’ residual data (increased by 52.25%, 26.1%), while the outpatients’ residual data of the former second day (AR2) had a negative effect on outpatients’ residual data of the present day (decreased by 17%). In addition, a variety of air pollutants (PM10, PM2.5, SO2, and NO2) showed some positive correlation, and had hysteresis. Conclusion The atmospheric haze, generated from suspended particulate, meteorological factor and gaseous pollutants, is the environmental pathogenic factor for the cardiovascular diseases, while the effects of single air pollutant on the hospital visit for cardiovascular diseases can be weakened by the haze pollution.
