Objective To access the changes in blood gases and electrolytes during anaphylactic shock induced by Echinococcus granulosus (EG) in sheep. Methods Fifteen healthy sheep of either sex weighing 31.2 ? 3.5 kg were repeatedly infected with EG for six months. The infected sheep were anesthetized with intramuscular thiopental 20mg?kg-1 and ketamine 15 mg?kg-1. The animals were breathing spontaneously and placed on the left side. ECG (lead Ⅱ) was monitored. Swan-Ganz catheter was placed via right internal jugular vein for hemodynamic monitoring. Anaphylactic shock was induced with antigen prepared from fluid in EG capsules. Blood samples were taken from right internal carotid artery before shock (T0) and 3.5 min (T1 ), 8 min (T2), 15 min (T3), 30 min (T4) and 60 min (T5 ) after shock was induced for determination of blood Na+ , K+ , Hct, Hb, pH, PaO2 , PaGO2 and HCO3-. Shock was confirmed by hypotension (MAP decreased by 30%), tachypnea, dyspnea, agitation and pupil dilation. Results Three sheep did not develop shock and two sheep died of severe shock within 10 min after iv antigen challenge. Blood K+ significantly increased at T1 and T2 after antigen challenge and then gradually returned to baseline value at T5 . PaO2 decreased, PaGO2 increased and pH deceased after challenge. Hct and Hb also increased significantly after challenge. Conclusion There are significant changes in blood gas and electrolytes indicated by hyperkalemia, acidosis and hypoxemia during anaphylactic shock induced by EG.

Objective To explore the interaction between warfarin and antiepileptic drugs such as carbamazepine and oxcarbazepine. Methods A 78-year-old woman suffered from warfarin resistance after initial warfarin dosing for several days.Based on her medication review, clinical pharmacist found that the warfarin resistance resulted from co-administered carbamazepine. Her warfarin dosage was increased, and the international normalized ratio (INR) increased to the target range.Another woman had been taking warfarin therapy for long time with a stable maintenance dose. She consulted clinical pharmacist for the influence of co-administered oxcarbazepine on warfarin. The patient was advised to maintain the dose and monitor her INR more closely. Her INR did not fluctuate. Results Carbamazepine induced warfarin metabolism. As a result, the patient needed increased dosage of warfarin to maintain the INR in the therapeutic target range.Oxcarbazepine does not induce liver enzymes, and therefore the INR did not fluctuate. Conclusion Carbamazepine may reduce the efficacy of warfarin.Oxcarbazepine offers a clinical advantage over carbamazepine, especially when co-administration of warfarin is required.

Objective To investigate the genetic diversity of Plasmodium vivax transmission_blocking vaccine candidate antigen (TBV) Pvs25, with P.vivax isolates from Hubei and Zhejiang Provinces, and to compare the genetic polymorphism of Pvs25 with that from Bangladesh. MethodsThe parasite DNA used for the genetic polymorphism assay was obtained from dried filter paper blood spots. The genes were PCR amplified and the products were purified and sequenced directly. Results 45 complete new sequences were analyzed. Only 3 nucleotide changes were found that would result in amino acid substitutions in Pvs25 in comparison with the sequence from P.vivax Sal_I strain. The measurement of nucleotide diversity (?) was remarkably similar for the two populations, indicating that DNA sequences and deduced amino acid sequences were highly homologous among the geographically dispersed isolates or isolates from the same geographical region. Conclusion The results suggest that Pvs25 has limited antigenic polymorphism, especially compared with candidate antigens expressed by hepatic and erythrocytic stage, which may support the development and application of Pvs25_based transmission_blocking vaccine in China.

OBJECTIVE:To improve the drug storehouse management model, and provide reference for hospital management reform. METHODS:Management operation of external drug storehouse management model in our hospital in 3 months was intro-duced from aspects of number of personnel, delivery timeliness as well as accuracy rate of entering and going-out storage, etc. Ef-fective and feasible solutions for developing external drug storehouse management and guaranteeing clinical drug supply were sum-marized. RESULTS:Through ensuring drug category, management level of external drug storehouse, job responsibility of related staff in hospital and pharmaceutical business companies, information platform and distribution management, external drug store-house work in our hospital was basically completed. Compared with before,it had effectively reduced the investment of human and material resources, management staff was decreased from 4 persons to 3 persons;and purchased drugs could be completely deliv-ered within the specified time. CONCLUSIONS:Under the circumstances of hospital management facing constant reform, the man-agement model of external drug storehouse can be considered to reduce management cost of hospital and expand the scale of company.

BACKGROUND:In order to solve the problems of poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA) stents, such as poor support, acidic metabolites, we researched a novel biogradable stent-PLLA/amorphous calcium plosphate (ACP).
OBJECTIVE: To discuss the safety and histocompatibility of the novel biogradable stent-PLLA/ACP stent implanted in the coronary artery in a porcine model.
METHODS:Sixteen novel biogradable stents were randomly implanted into the coronary arteries, left anterior descending branch, left circumflex artery or right coronary artery of sixteen healthy Tibet miniature pigs. The blood routine and blood biochemistry were measured pre-operation and at 1 month after operation. The coronary blood vessels where the stent was implanted were examined by hematoxylin-eosin staining at 1 and 6 months after operation.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Compared with pre-operation, the post-operation indicators of the blood routine and blood biochemistry were of no significant difference. Coronary angiography revealed coronary artery patency and no thrombosis, the vascular stent segments exhibited clear boundaries with the surrounding tissue, with no tissue adhesion, necrosis, and adherence abnormalities. The results of hematoxylin-eosin staining showed that there was no significant difference in vascular injury integral between 1 month after operation and 6 months after operation. However, 6 months after operation, the scores of the inflammation were lower (P < 0.05), and the scores of the endothelialization were increased (P < 0.05). There was no myocardial infarction and inflammatory cellinfiltration around the stent. These results suggest that the novel biodegradable stent has good safety and histocompatibility.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the influence of Shi herb (Santalum album, SA) to the tissue distribution of danshensu (DSS) which is the main hydrosoluble component of Jun herb (Salvia miltiorrhiza, SM) in rabbits by HPLC.
METHODRabbits were oral administrated decoction of SM and SM-SA, respectively. Perchloric acid (10%) was used to precipitate the tissue samples of rabbits heart, brain, liver, kidney, acetic ether was used to extracte supernatant, and the internal standard was p-hydroxybenzoic acid. The content of DSS of SM in tissues was detected.
RESULTThe content of DSS reached the highest point close to 50 min in the mentioned tissues. Before and after co-administration, the sequences of average concentration of DSS in tissues were C(kidney) > C(heart) > C(brain) > C(liver) and C(kidney) > C(liver) > C(brain) > C(heart) respectively. Compared with SM administrated singly, the content of DSS in every tissues of co-administration was higher.
CONCLUSIONIn Danshenyin Formulae, SA can increase concentration of DSS in target tissues significantly, and therefore therapeutic effect of SM for cardiovascular disease is raised.
