OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the oblique angle, diplopia and stereoacuity before and after rectus recession-suspension on posterior sclera surgery in patients with restrictive strabismus caused by thyroid associated ophthalmopathy (TAO). METHODS: Data from 18 patients (19 eyes) with restrictive strabismus caused by TAO, who underwent rectus recession-suspension on posterior sclera surgery from July 2010 to June 2013 in Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, were analyzed retrospectively. Eight patients (8 eyes) or 5 patients (5 eyes) with hypotropia were operated with inferior rectus recession or superior rectus recession. Two patients (2 eyes) with esohypertropia or 3 patients (4 eyes) with esotropia were operated with inferior rectus recession plus medial rectus recession or medial rectus recession. Two patients (1 hypotropia, 1 esotropia) underwent orbital decompression surgery before strabismus surgery. All patients were performed rectus recession-suspension on posterior sclera surgery, and the oblique angle, diplopia view and stereopsis test were examined before and after the operation. RESULTS: All patients were followed up for more than 6 months. The preoperative prism were 20(Δ)- 80(Δ) and postoperative prism were 2(Δ)-10(Δ). There was diplopia on the primary position before surgery in 16 patients. After surgery, the diplopia in 14 patients disappeared on the primary and 15° down gaze, and 2 patients had not diplopia on the primary position but residual diplopia on inferior field. Two patients had stereopsis before surgery, and the numbers of patients raised to 14 after surgery. Compared with pre-operation, changes of the above measured indexs in post-operation were significant difference (all P<0.05). CONCLUSION The rectus recession-suspension on posterior sclera surgery is effective to improve oblique angle and diplopia in restrictive strabismus caused by TAO, which can improve patient's living quality.

Objective To study the effect of medicated serum of Jianpi Yiqi Huayu Jiedu Formula (JY-HJF),a TCMcompound formulated according to TCMprinciple of tonifying spleen,replenishing qi,re-moving blood stasis and detoxification,on proliferation,cycles,apoptosis of HCT116 colorectal cancer cells and on the protein expression of Caspase-3,Bcl-xL and Bax of HCT116 cells.Methods After drug-contained serum (10%,15%,20%)treated HCT116 cells for 12,24,48 and 72 h,the prolifera-tion was detected by MTT method;after treated for 24 or 48 h,the cell cycle and apoptosis rate were de-tected by propidium iodide (PI)staining.The protein expression level of Caspase 3,Bcl-xL and Bax in HCT116 cells were detected by Western blot.The control group was treated by blank serum and 10% fe-tal bovine serum (FBS).Results Compared with the same concentration of blank serum group,the cell proliferation was inhibited significantly in 15% and 20% medicated serum group after 12 h (P <0.05), and the inhibitory effect showed time-and concentration-dependence with the highest at 72 h (P <0. 05).In 10% and 15% medicated serum group,cells in G2 phase decreased,but the G1-phase cells and S-phase cells increased;cells in G1 phase and S phase increased and those in G2 phase decreased in 10% medicated serum group with the remarkable results at 48 h.It was suggested that the medicated ser-um could blocked cell cycles,with the positive correlation with time.Compared with the blank serum groups at the same concentration,after treated 24 and 48 h,apoptosis rate of HCT116 cells increased, and had the positive correlation with time and concentration.Compared with the blank serum group,the expression of Bax protein was upregulated and that of Caspase-3 and Bcl-xL were downregulated in 15%medicated serum group (P <0.05).Conclusion The effect of Jianpi Yiqi Huayu Jiedu Formula on in-hibiting proliferation and inducing apoptosis may be via the way of blocking HCT116 cells cycles and of upregulating Bax protein expression with downregulating Caspase-3 protein and Bcl-xL protein expression.

Objective To establish a simple,feasible and reliable orthotopic implantation and metastasis model of human colon cancer in nude mice cecum mucosa.Methods Tumor cell line HCT116,derived from human colon cancer,was injected into colon cecum mucosa of nude mice to develop colorectal cancer model.HE staining and human carcinoma antigen (CEA) immunohistochemistry were performed to detect tumor in situ and metastasis condition in abdominal lymph nodes,the liver and the lungs.Results On the 2nd week after inoculation,90％ of the nude mice developed cecum tumor of 2-5 mm in diameter in situ.Abdominal lymph node metastasis was observed on the 4th week and present in all mice at week 12.Liver and lung metastasis started to appear at a percentage of 60％ on the 10th week and 39％ on the 12th week.Conclusion Human colon cancer in situ could be successfully established by inoculating HCT116 into cecum mucosa of nude mice to mimic the clinical development and growth of colon cancer.This method proves to be simple with a high tumor-bearing rate.It could be used as a reliable and ootimal animal model for in-depth basic research about the mechanism of colon cancer metastasis.

Objective: To construct a prognostic model for unsuccessful removal of nasogastric tube (NGT) was the aim of our study. Methods: This study examined patients with swallowing disorders receiving NGT feeding due to stroke or traumatic brain injury in a regional hospital. Clinical data was collected, such as age, sex, body mass index (BMI), level of activities of daily living (ADLs) dependence. Additionally, gather information regarding the enhancement in Functional Oral Intake Scale (FOIS) levels and the increase in food types according to the International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative (IDDSI) after one month of swallowing training. A stepwise logistic regression analysis model was employed to predict NGT removal failure using these parameters. Results: Out of 203 patients, 53 patients (26.1%) had experienced a failed removal of NGT after six months of follow-up. The strongest predictors for failed removal were age over 60 years, underweight BMI, total dependence in ADLs, and ischemic stroke. The admission prediction model categorized patients into high, moderate, and low-risk groups for removal failure. The failure rate of NGT removal was high not only in the high-risk group but also in the moderate-risk groups when there was no improvement in FOIS levels and IDDSI food types. Conclusion Our predictive model categorizes patients with brain insults into risk groups for swallowing disorders, enabling advanced interventions such as percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy for high-risk patients struggling with NGT removal, while follow-up assessments using FOIS and IDDSI aid in guiding rehabilitation decisions for those at moderate risk.

Objective:To explore the current situation of nursing human caring in hospital wards and analyze its influencing factors, so as to facilitate the development of nursing human caring practice.Methods:From July to November 2022, a total of 107 hospitals were surveyed through stratified convenience sampling method, and 4 072 ward nursing managers were recruited to finish the general information questionnaire and the ward nursing human caring status questionnaire. The general information included the region, class and type of the hospital, etc. The ward nursing human caring status questionnaire included 38 items in 5 dimensions of nursing human caring system and process, humanistic quality and training of nursing staff, humanistic environment and facilities, human caring procedures and measures, and human caring quality evaluation and improvement, with a full score of 190 points. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the general data, independent samples t-test, ANOVA and correlation analysis were used to analyze the factors influencing the current status of nursing human caring in the ward, while multiple linear regression analysis was used to conduct a multivariate analysis. Results:The score of nursing human caring in hospital wards was 156.91±27.78. Whether the hospital had carried out nursing human caring pilot(demonstration) wards, whether the ward had previously been a hospital nursing human caring pilot(demonstration) nursing unit, the type of ward, and whether nursing managers had participated in human caring training were the influencing factors of the implication of nursing humanistic caring in wards( P<0.05). Conclusions:The practice of nursing human caring in hospital wards is at a good level, but needs to be further strengthened. Nursing managers should take systematically strategies to promote the development of nursing human caring practice.

Objective: To study the effect of continuous nursing care on quality of life in patients with rheumatoid arthritis after discharge. Methods: Patients with rheumatoid arthritis who were admitted to hospital from August 2016 to August 2017 were selected as the study subjects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into the control group and the research group, and the lost cases were eliminated. There were 99 cases in the control group and 94 cases in the research group. The control group was given routine care, and the research group conducted continuous nursing care measures on the basis of the control group. The morning stiffness time, pain score, disease activity, patient health status and nursing satisfaction of the two groups were observed before and 6 weeks after discharge. Results: Six weeks after discharge, the morning stiffness time (23.76±12.76) min of the research group was significantly higher than that of the control group (38.22±14.53) min, the difference was statistically significant (t=3.865, P<0.05). Six weeks after discharge, the VAS (2.01±0.68) and HAQ (0.42±0.34) points of the research group were lower than those of the control group (4.17±1.30), (0.92±0.63) points, the difference was statistically significant (t=4.073, 3.916, P<0.05). The nursing satisfaction of the research group was 94.68%(89/94), and that of the control group was 78.79%(78/99), and the difference was statistically significant (χ²=9.416, P < 0.05). Conclusions The implementation of continuous care mode after discharge from patients with rheumatoid arthritis is beneficial to alleviate clinical symptoms such as morning stiffness and pain. Moreover, it can also improve patient health and quality of life, increase risk of disease progression, and care satisfaction is high which can help to protect the harmony between nurses and patients.
