Objective By learning about the current basic situation of research on national scientific and technological achievements of three species of Chinese herbal, Radix Angelicas, Radix Astragall and Radix Codonopsis, to reveal the features in literature and research content, and provide reference for related research in future. Methods By using content analysis approach, the basic situation of achievements, the research content of achievements, and assessment and application of achievements were classified and statistically analyzed by classifying and statistical function of computer. Results The provinces that rank the top of national scientific and technological achievements of the three species of Chinese herbal were Gansu, Hebei and Shandong. The achievements were mainly undertaken by college or university, hospital and scientific research institutions. The source of project achievements mainly originated from local project and optional project. The research content of the achievements largely focused on the fields like drug therapeutic effect, pharmaceutical preparation, cultivation techniques, storing and processing. Conclusion In the database (HowNet) of national scientific and technological achievements, the amplification of national scientific and technological achievements of the three species of Chinese herbal is slow, the achievements mainly focus on application technology, the conversion rate of achievements is low, and large amount of data of achievement items in database is missing.

Objective To evaluate the effects of low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) treatment on the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts cultured on barium titanate/titanium alloy (BaTiO3) and zinc oxide/titanium alloy (ZnO) piezoelectric ceramic composite scaffolds.Methods The BaTiO3 and ZnO porous composite scaffolds were randomly divided into ultrasound (UBaTiO3 and UZnO) and control (CBaTiO3 and CZnO)groups,and MC3T3-E1 cells were cultured on the surface of the materials in each group.Cells in the ultrasound groups were subjected to a 20-min treatment LIPUS session daily,and the control group was sham-treated without the power source.The proliferation and differentiation rates of osteoblasts were evaluated using methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT),alkaline phosphatase (ALP),and osteocalcin (OCN) assays.Results Significant differences in the MTF values were observed between the UBaTiO3 and CBaTiO3 groups at day 4 (P ＜ 0.05) and between the UBaTiO3 and UZnO groups at days 1,4,and 7 (P ＜ 0.05).Compared with the CBaTiO3 group,the UBaTiO3 group showed significantly higher ALP activity and OCN levels at days 4 and 7 (P ＜ 0.05).Further,a significant difference in the ALP and OCN values between the UBaTiO3 and UZnO groups (P ＜ 0.05) was observed.Conclusion LIPUS promotes the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts on BaTiO3 and ZnO scaffolds.BaTiO3 scaffolds enable better promotion of osteogenesis under LIPUS treatment than ZnO scaffolds do.

Objective To investigate the relationship between preoperative urodynamic parameters and the improvement of overactive bladder (OAB)symptoms after GreenLight laser vaporization,and to explore prognostic factors for improvement of OAB symptoms in the elderly.Methods A retrospective study was conducted in 100 benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)patients undergoing GreenLight laser vaporization at the Department of Urology of Beijing Hospital from July 2015 to March 2017.All patients completed a preoperative urodynamic examination and received GreenLight laser vaporization.Clinical data including age,prostate-specific antigen (PSA),prostate volume,international prognostic scoring system(IPSS),overactive bladder symptom score (OABSS),quality of life(QOL)and urodynamic parameters were collected.The related factors for improvement of OAB symptoms after GreenLight laser vaporization were analyzed by a binary Logistic regression analysis.Results All patients underwent surgery successfully and completed a 12-month follow-up.Both urinary storage and voiding symptoms improved at 3 and 12 months after GreenLight laser vaporization(P＜0.05).The scores of IPSS,IPSS storage (IPSS-S),IPSS voiding (IPSS-V),OABSS and QOL and nighttime voiding frequency decreased and urinary storage and voiding symptoms improved at 3 and 12 months after GreenLight laser vaporization,compared with pre-surgery data(P＜0.05).The success rates of storage symptom improvement at 3 and 12 months after GreenLight laser vaporization were 62.0 ％ (62/100) and 68.0 ％ (68/100) evaluated by IPSS-S and 68.0 ％ (68/100) and 75.0％ (75/100)by OABSS,respectively.Multiple Logistic regression analysis showed that age,detrusor contractility,residual urine volume and nighttime voiding frequency were independent influencing factors for prognosis(OR =35.714,0.352,0.110 and 0.040,P =0.000,0.027,0.018 and 0.002).Conclusions GreenLight laser vaporization is an effective method in treating BPH with OAB.Age is an independent unfavorable factor and the residual urine volume,nighttime voiding frequency and detrusor contraction are independent influencing factors for prognosis.Enough attention should be paid to these related parameters before surgery.

Transoral microresection for treatment of vocal cord lesions involving the anterior commissure may result in anterior glottic webs. In this study, we retrospectively reviewed 54 patients who underwent microsurgery for bilateral lesions involving the anterior commissure and categorized them into two groups. The keel placement and control groups received endoscopic keel placement and mitomycin C, respectively. During the follow-up of at least 1 year, the laryngeal web formation rate significantly decreased in the keel placement group compared with that in the control group (18.6% versus 54.5%, P < 0.05). Furthermore, the voice handicap index-10 scores for patients without web formation decreased in both the keel placement and control groups (P < 0.0001 and P < 0.001, respectively). A pseudomembrane covering the vocal cords was detected in 16.3% (7 of 43) cases after keel removal. A total of 100% (7 of 7) of these cases and 2.8% (1 of 36) of the other cases formed laryngeal webs (P < 0.0001). Endoscopic keel placement could be an effective method for preventing anterior glottic webs after surgery for bilateral vocal cord diseases involving the anterior commissure. The pseudomembrane observed at the time of keel removal may imply a high risk of web formation.

To present the clinical characteristics and the misdiagnosis rate of acute coronary syndrome manifested primarily as throat discomfort, we conducted a multicentric and retrospective study in the cardiology and otorhinolaryngology departments. Records of patients with primary complaint of throat discomfort, absence of chest pain at onset, and an ultimate diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome, as well as patients with pharyngitis (as controls) were collected from May 2015 to April 2016. The patients' main manifestations were compared. Logistic regression results showed that chest tightness, dyspnea, perspiring, and exertional throat symptoms were significantly associated with acute coronary syndrome, with odds ratios of 8.3 (95% CI 2.2-31.5), 10.9 (95% CI 1.8-66.9), 25.4 (95% CI 3.6-179.9), and 81.2 (95% CI 13.0-506.7). A total of 25 (56.82%) out of 44 acute coronary syndrome patients, who were first admitted to the otorhinolaryngology department, were misdiagnosed, with a 12% (3/25) mortality rate. Throat discomfort can be the principal manifestation of acute coronary syndrome. Such patients exhibit high misdiagnosis and mortality rates. Exertional throat symptoms, chest tightness, perspiring, and dyspnea were important indicators of acute coronary syndrome in patients whose main complaint was throat discomfort. The awareness of this condition will result in prompt diagnosis and reduce morbidity and mortality.
