[Objective]To evaluate the role of Southwick angle and Klein line in the diagnosis of slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE). [Methods]Forty-two cases of SCFE were treated by Russell traction and screw or pins fixation in situ from 1995 to 2006. The hip anteroposterior and frog-lateral radiographs were reviewed to measure the occurrence of metaphyseal change, the Southwick angle and the Klein line.[Results]The metaphyseal changes occurred in all cases. The Southwick angles were reduced with the severity of SCFE. The positive ratio of Klein line was higher in the lateral radiographs, but lower in the anteroposterior radiographys.[Conclusion]The Southwick angle and Klein line play an important role in the diagnosis of SCFE. The lateral radiography should be emphasized in the diagnosis of SCFE.

Objective To outline the characteristics of fractures of the coronoid process of the ulna in children and distinguish them from that of the adult. Methods Twenty eight cases of fractures of the coronoid process of the ulna in children in the past five years were reviewed. There were 18(64%) boys and 10(36%) girls. According to the extent of involvement, the fractures were classified as 3 types based on modified Regan and Morrey method. Of those, 10 cases were associated with other injuries such as dislocation of the elbow, fracture of the radial neck, fracture of the olecranon and so on. In this series, open reduction and internal fixation were applied in only 2 cases with type Ⅲ injury and conservative treatment including immobilization of the elbow in flexion with long arm plaster splint were done in all of the rest cases. Results Seventeen patients were followed up for an average of 14 months(range, 4 months to 5 years). The clinical results were evaluated according to pain, range of motion, muscular strength and stability of the elbow. The overall excellent result were achieved in 94%of the patients. No complaint and late complication were found in this series. Conclusion There are some obvious differences in the coronoid process fracture of the ulna between children and adult: 1)fewer cases associated with dislocation of the elbow in the children than in the adult; 2)the clinical results were relatively better in children than that in the adult whatever the surgical or conservative treatment was performed; 3)the prognosis of fractures of the coronoid process of the ulna was better and the complications were less in children than that in the adults.

The magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MMIPs), based on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles being modified by surface grafting, have been successfully synthesized, with dibutyl phthalate (DBP) as template molecule, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as cross-linking agent and azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as initiator. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and elemental analysis were employed to characterize the MMIPs. The structure and magnetic properties of the MMIPs were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction and vibrating sample magnetometer. The BET surface area shows that MMIPs is 380 m2/g and MNIPs is 324 m2/g. A series of static adsorption experiments were conducted to analyze its adsorption performance, which followed pseudo-second-order model by the kinetic analysis with correlation coefficient (R2) 0.9797, and Sips equation with correlation coefficient (R2) 0.999 by the isothermal analysis. The imprinting factors of diallyl phthalate (DAP), DBP and di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) were 1.53, 2.21 and 1.39 respectively, showing that MMIPs had better recognition performance for DBP. The experiment of regeneration recycles with five times showed the regeneration ability of DBP was only reduced by 12.3%.

Objective:To investigate the change of expression of miR-7 in activated CD4+ T cells in vitro, and preliminary explore its possible significance. Methods: CD4+CD62L+T cells was purified from splenocytes of FVB mice by magnetic cell sorting system (MACS). After stimulation with anti-CD3/CD28 antibody, the relative expression of miR-7 was examined by Real-time PCR, and the expression level of CD69 molecular was analyzed by FACS. Furthermore, the relative expression of miR-7 in CD4+T cells was detected at different time points during stimulation. With the treatment of ERK inhibitor PD98059,change of miR-7 expression was de-termined by Real-time PCR. Meanwhile, the proliferation of CD4+T cells was examined by CCK-8 assay and the expression level of CD69 and CD62L molecular were analyzed by FACS. Finally, the expression of cytokines IL-6,IL-10,and IFN-γ were determined by Real-time PCR. Results:Compared with control group, the relative expression of miR-7 was increased significantly after stimulation with anti-CD3/CD28 antibody,as well as expression level of CD69 molecular was augmented(P<0. 05). In contrasted with 0 h and 24 h,the expression of miR-7 was significantly increased after 48 h and 72 h during stimulation(P<0. 05). Furthermore, the relative expression of miR-7 was significantly declined in CD4+T cells in ERK inhibitor PD98059 treatment group. Finally, the expression level of CD69 molecular,as well as cytokines IL-6, IL-10 and IFN-γ, were also decreased significantly ( P<0. 05 ) . Conclusion: The relative expression of miR-7 was significantly increased in activated CD4+T cells, closely related to ERK pathway, which provided an important foundation for successive research work on exploring the functional role of miR-7 in the CD4+T cells.

Objective:To compare the dosimetric differences between volumetric modulated arc radiotherapy with RapidArc and fixed-field intensity modulation radiation therapy (IMRT) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), and identify the techniques from which patients of different T stages can gain the maximum benefit. Methods:Sixty non-metastatic patients with NPC were randomly selected. According to the T staging of 2008 Chinese Classification, T1-T2 stage cases were observed in 20 of the 60 patients, whereas T3 and T4 stage cases were seen with 20 patients each. RapidArc and IMRT treatment plans were managed by the Eclipse treatment planning sys-tem of Varian Co., US. The dosimetry of the target volume coverage, organs at risk (OARs), monitor unit (MU) per second, and deliv-ery time were evaluated. Results:Both techniques reached the requirement of clinical treatment. The coverages of planning target vol-ume, conformity index, and homogeneity index were similar. However, the stratified analysis of T staging indicated that RapidArc plans led to an increased dose to the tumor target (P<0.05) and an improved homogeneity index (P=0.059) in the T4 stage cases. RapidArc al-lowed a statistical dose reduction to the OARs, including optic nerves, lens, temporal lobe, V20 of the parotids, larynx, and temporo-mandibular joint (P<0.05). In the T-stage stratified analysis, the D1%and Dmax of brain stem in T1-T3 stages were similar but statistical-ly low in T4 stage in the RapidArc group (P<0.05). Compared with those in IMRT group, the MUs and the delivery time in RapidArc group were reduced by 65%and 63%, respectively. Conclusion:Both RapidArc and IMRT attained the clinical requirement for NPC. RapidArc technique showed improvements in the OARs and reduction in MUs and delivery time. The target volume coverages were similar for T1-T3 stage. However, RapidArc delivered an increased dose to the tumor target in T4 stage cases, and the dose to OARs was reduced.

Objectives To analyze the clinical features and long-term follow-up results of neuroblastoma (NB) without chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and to provide evidence for further improvement of treatment. Methods The clinical data of children diagnosed with NB who received operation during January 2005 to December 2015 was retrospectively analyzed, and the long-term follow-up results were evaluated. Results In 57 cases of NB, 43 cases (81.1%) were in stage 1, 8 cases were in stage 2 and 2 cases were in stage 4S. The median age at diagnose was 7 months (11 days - 10 years and 11 months). There were 47/51 cases had the pathological type with a good prognosis (accounting for 92.2%). FISH was detected in 1/49 case which had the amplification at greater than 10 copies. 56/57 cases underwent surgical resection of the primary tumor, 50 cases of which were completely resected, and 3 cases had very good partial remission after tumor resection. The abdominal mass was found in the uterus in 1 case, and surgical operation was not performed and the imaging was regularly checked for follow-up , and the mass subsided completely at 7-month-old. The median follow-up time was 36 months (4 - 99 months). Five children were lost to follow-up and the median time of follow-up was 19 months (4 - 45 months). One child in stage 4S relapsed at 1 year of follow-up, 2 cases in stage 1 relapsed at 6 months of follow-up. Five years event free survival rates (EFS) in all patients were 94.6%, and overall survival rate (OS) of the 5 years was 100%. Conclusions Children younger than 18 months without MYCN amplification in the stages 1 and 2 are safe by surgical treatment alone with good prognosis. Simple surgical treatment can also be extended to all age groups of NB without MYCN amplification in the stages 1 or 2.
