Objective This study was designed to assess whether Bushen Tongluo Fang(BSTLF),a Chinese materia medica formula, can ameliorate the hypercoagulable state in rats with membranous glomerulonephritis(MGN)induced by cationized bovine serum albumin(C-BSA)in order to gain an insight into the mechanisms responsible for its therapeutic effect. Methods Seventy-two male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly separated into six groups:the normal control group, the MGN model group, the prednisone-plus-aspirin treatment group, and the low-,moderate-,and high-dose groups of BSTLF.The model of MGN was induced by sc(preimmunization)and iv injections of C-BSA in the latter five groups. After the development of MGN model, the decoctions of BSTLF and the prednisone-plus-aspirin solution were ig administered to the treatment groups respectively twice daily for four weeks. The rats in the model group received their drinking water as vehicle controls.Urinary albumin excretion for 24 h was measured using a rat albumin ELISA kit.The platelet aggregation was analyzed by turbidimetry. The plasma level of fibri-nogen(Fib)was determined by the von Clauss assay.Radioimmunoassay was used to examine thromboxane B2(TXB2)and 6-keto-prostaglandin F1?(6-keto-PGF1?)of the renal cortex. Results Urinary albumin excretion for 24 h,maximal platelet aggregation, plasma Fib level, and TXB2 production of renal cortex in the MGN model group were significantly higher than those in the normal control group, respectively.Compared with the MGN model group, these four measurements were decreased significantly in BSTLF-treated groups. The 6-keto-PGF1? production of renal cortex in the MGN model group was subnormal but no statistically significant differences were observed between the model group and BSTLF groups. Conclusion The results of this study suggest that the administration of BSTLF could attenuate platelet aggregability, lower plasma level of Fib and reduce thromboxane A2 production by renal cortex in the rats with MGN,so that their hypercoagulable state is corrected at least partly and glomerular microthroimbosis is prevented in several ways. These effects may contribute considerably to the mechanisms of BSTLF efficacy for chronic nephritis.

Objective To develop a computer-auto-controlling and analysis system for Tail suspension .Methods Combining the advantage of computer science , engineering and animal behavior into tail suspension test .The “energy”index was developed .The system was validated with antidepressants such as imipramine and paroxetine .Results The measuring principle is based on the energy developed by mice trying to escape from their suspension .During the test, the movements of the mice are analyzed in terms of force , energy and power developed over time .Each mouse issuspended by the tail using adhesive tape to a hook connected to a tail test sensor .The tail test sensor fixed to suspension bar picks up all movements of the mouse and transmits these to a signal regulation unit and transmission circuit , which amplify , filter and digitalizes the signals. The signals are displayed visually in waveform .Activity time, immobility time, energy are continuously updated .The correlation coefficient of “immobility time” collected by computer and manpower was 0.94. Using this system, both imipramine and paroxetine could decreased the immobility time and paroxetine could increased the energy induced by mice ( both P <0.01 ) .Conclusion A stable computer-auto-controlling and analysis system for Tail suspension was established and could be used to screen the antidepressants .

The relationship between the hepatic ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury and the balance of nitric oxide/endothelins (NO/ET) was studied. The changes of the ratio of NO/ET and the hepatic injury were observed in a rat hepatic I/R model pretreated with several tool drugs. In the acute phase of hepatic I/R injury, the ratio of plasma NO/ET was reduced from 1.58 +/- 0.20 to 0.29 +/- 0.05 (P < 0.01) and the hepatic damage deteriorated. NO donor L-Arg and ET receptor antagonist TAK-044 could alleviate the hepatic I/R injury to some degree, whereas NO synthase inhibitor L-NAME aggravated the damage. It was concluded that the hepatic I/R injury might be related with the disturbance of the NO/ET balance. Regulation of this balance might have an effect on the I/R injury.

Chinese Journal of Biochemical Pharmaceutics 2001;22(3):124-126
Purpose The aim is to compare the sterols in Hericium crinaceus ethanol extract and water extract from solid fermented hyphae and to study the pharmaceutical chemical basis of the different medicinal effects. Methods The nonsaponifiable lipids were isolated by saponification. The sterols were then detected by TLC and RP-HPLC.Results The content of sterols in ethanol extract was found to be higher than that in water extract. And one type of sterols from Hericium erinaceus hyphae was identified as ergosterol. Conclusion Due to ergosterol′s multifunction in biological activities,it may well be one of the active components of hyphae. And higher content of lipids, especially sterols may be one of the reasons for the better medicinal effect of ethanol extract than water extract.

Objective To evaluate the detection of membrane neutrophil alkaline phosphatase (NAP)in diagnosis of infection in patients with acute cerebral hemorrhage. Methods A total of 208 patients with acute cerebral hemorrhage, including 1 52 cases without infection (uninfected group)and 56 cases with infection (infected group),admitted in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University during January 201 0 to July 201 6 were enrolled,30 healthy subjects were also enrolled in the study as control group. The peripheral blood from all subjects were collected, and the counts of white blood cell (WBC), percentage of neutrophil, serum procalcitonin (PCT)and NAP were measured. The value of above 4 indicators in diagnosing infection was determined by receiver operating characteristic (ROC ) curves. ANOVA and t test were used to analyze the data,Pearson correlation was performed to analyze the correlation between NAP and PCT in infected group. Results The levels of WBC,percentage of neutrophil and NAP in both infected and uninfected group were higher than those in healthy control group at admission(F =1 1 7.64, 1 00.69 and 425.09,all P <0.01 ),and the levels of WBC,PCT and NAP were also higher when infection occurred compared with those at admission in infected group (t =3.1 4,34.30 and 36.39,all P <0.01 ). The expression of NAP was positively correlated with PCT in infected group (r =0.762,P <0.05).ROC curve analysis showed that the areas under the curves of NAP and PCT in diagnosis of infection were 0.875 and 0.884,respectively.When 1 0655.28 AB/c and 5.01 mg/L were taken as cut-off values, the sensitivities of NAP and PCT in diagnosis of infection were 85.50% and 87.66%;the specificities were 90.50%和 90.31 %,respectively. The level of NAP in infected patients with gram-positive bacterial infections was higher than that in patients with gram-negative bacterial infections (t =6.29,P <0.01 ). Conclusion The expression of NAP in patients with acute cerebral hemorrhage increases when infection occurs, which may be helpful to the clinical diagnosis of bacterial infection.

Acta Anatomica Sinica 1954;0(02):-
1.The external features and arterial supply of the papillary muscles of the leftventricle were studied in 54 human,52 dogs' and 110 rabbits' hearts.Radiopaquemedium or Chinese ink were injected into coronary arteries. After injection,arter-iography of some hearts were taken, and serial celloidin sections of the papillarymuscles of other hearts were made. The diameters of the papillary arteries and thedensity of the vessels were measured.2.The papillary muscles could be divided into three patterns, depending on theextent of their attachment to the ventricular wall and the relative length of theirfree part protruding into the ventricular cavity. The three patterns were as follows:(1)The attached type, the papillary muscle was largely adherent to the sucbjacentventricular myocardium, with only one third or less of its length protruding into theventricular cavity(34% in human hearts,100% in dogs' and 38% in rabbits').(2)The free type, the free end of the papillary muscle was one half of its length ormore(28% in human hearts,10% in rabbits').(3)The intermediate type, thelength of the free protruding part of the papillary muscle was intermediate between(1)and(2)(38% in human hearts,52% in rabbits').3.In the human and the dogs' hearts the anterolateral papillary muscle receivedbranches from the anterior descending artery and the diagonal left ventricularbranches or the left circumflex artery;while in the rabbits' it received branchesmainly from the anterior branches of the left ventricular artery. The posteromedialpapillary muscle received a variable supply from the left circumflex artery and orthe branches of the right coronary artery in the dogs' hearts and in the human hearts, while in the rabbits' hearts,it mainly received branches from the posteriorbranches of the left ventricular artery.4.The arrangement of the arterial vasculature of the papillary muscle seemedto be related to the different patterns of the papillary muscles. The free typereceived a large central artery which coursed through the entire papillary muscle toits apex(87.5%).The attached type had a segmental supply of 3~9 long penetrat-ing intramyocardial vessels(94.29%).The intermediate type had a combination ofboth types of vascular arrangement(98.5%).5.The average diameter of the central arteries was 617.50 ? in human hearts atits entry into the base of the papillary muscle, and 236.05 ? in rabbits. The dia-meters of the segmental arteries were 323.60 ? in human hearts,300.05 ? in dogs',121.78 ? in rabbits' respectively. The diameters of the capillary vessels were 5~8 ?in human hearts,3~6 ? in dogs',2.5~6 ? in rabbits' respectively. The numbersof capillaries that observed in a length of 200? were 15.45 in human hearts,16.2in dogs',19.3 in rabbits'.The specific values of the density of vessels per unitarea were 34.4% in human hearts,34.1% in dogs',56% in rabbits'.
