Journal of Peking University(Health Sciences) 2003;0(06):-
Objective: To measure GCF calprotectin and total protein for evaluating whether the calprotectin could be a sensitive marker for the initial inflammation of gingiva. Methods: Eleven young male subjects with healthy gingiva, who had no systemic diseases, were selected for this study. GCF samples (4 teeth /person) were collected with strips of filter paper at baseline (0 day), on the 7 th, 14 th, 21 st days (without oral hygiene), and 28 th day (7 days after reestablishing oral hygiene) during experimental gingivitis. The amount of calprotectin was measured by ELISA. The amount of total protein was assessed with protein dye binding assay. Results: The amount of calprotectin increased during the experimental gingivitis, and reached the highest level on the 21 st day. After oral hygiene was reestablished it reduced to the level of baseline. The amount of total protein had the same tendency as calprotectin. Conclusion: The amount of calprotectin and the total protein in GCF can reflect the initial inflammation of gingiva.

Objective To explore the contamination by Legionella pneumophila in cooling water of centralized air condi-tioning system in hospitals and hotels. Methods In Aug2001,the water from cooling towers of centralized air conditioning sys-tems in4hospitals and2hotels were sampled in W city. The membranes filtering the cooling water samples were treated by hy-drochloric acid. After treatment, the mixed treated solution was inoculated into GVPC plate and cultured in candle jar.The susepectable colonies were identified by biochemical test, serological test and PCR test respectively.Results5strains of L pneu mophila in cluding3strains of Lp1type and2strains of Lp5type were isolated from water samples of the cooling towers of centralized air conditioning systems in2hospitals and one star-grade hotel in W city. Conclusion The contamination by le-gionella in water of cooling tower of centralized air conditioning system in hospitals and hotels should be monitored closely.

Journal of China Pharmaceutical University 2001;(3):213-216
AIM Here the development of a simple, rapid and simultaneous method for the separation of five ephedrine alkaloids obtained with non-aqueous capillary electrophoresis (NACE) were reported. The effects of the electrolyte, non-aqueous solvent on the separation were also discussed. METHODS A running buffer of 50 mmol/L ammonium acetate in methanol was found to be the most suitable for this separation. RESULT The best separation was achieved within 8 minutes. CONCLUSION The separation is not only dependent on differences in the pK value of the alkaloids but also on the intramolecular interaction and solvation. So much improved selectivity could be achieved in nonaqueous medium.

ObjectiveTo explore the feasibility of non-nasal packing after correction of nasal septum. Methods53 cases of simple deviation of nasal septum were underwent endoscopic correction of nasal septum. The continuous suction in surgical cavity through catheter without nasal packing after surgery was applied to 46 cases with intact double-mucosa or little wound that could be sutured in front of nasal septum. ResultsOf the 46 patients, the volume of the bleeding 3 days after the operation were(8.1 ± 5.6)ml.The degree of the nasal mucosa edema in 33 patients were lightened than others, the space between the inferior nasal concha and the nasal septum were fine as well as the ventilation of the nasal cavity.Among those cases, there were 13 patients with severe nasal mucosa edema(5 cases were allergic rhinitis)which were treated with ephedrine and furaciline solution or glucocorticoid,as the results, the nasal mucosa shrinked, and the patients could respire well. The catheter were extracted 3 days after the operation until the primary healing. All the cases were healing well without the the nasal septum hematoma and other complications which were follow up more than half a year. ConclusionThe method of continuous suction in surgical cavity through catheter without nasal packing was feasible if double nasal septum mucosa was intact after correction of nasal septum.

Journal of Practical Stomatology 2000;0(05):-
Objective:To observe the changes of plaque microflora during the experimental gingivitis and to analyze the relationship between the plaque microflora and the clinical parameters.Methods:11 young male subjects with healthy gingiva and without systemic disease were selected.Subgingival plaque samples(2 sites /person)were collected and then smeared by Gongo red at baseline(0 day),the 7th,14th,21st day(without oral hygiene)and 28th day(7 days after reestablishing oral hygiene)respectively during experimental gingivitis. At the same time the clinical parameters were recorded. The results of smear and the clinical parameters were analyzed. Results:The percentage of spirochete was the lowest at the baseline and increased during the experimental gingivitis, and then reached the highest level on the 21st day.The percentage of spirochete of the 21st day showed the significant different compared with that of baseline(P0.05)Conclusion:Spirochete is correlated to the development of the gingivitis.
