OBJECTIVETo investigate the actual condition of the sexual physiological and psychological development of the high school students in Yibin in order to get a reliable basis for sexual education of the teenagers.
METHODSWith a proportion of 1% to the whole, 2,770 students were randomly selected from eight high schools in the urban and rural areas of the city. We devised a questionnaire and asked each student to fill in his or her answers presently.
RESULTSSo far as sexual physiological and psychological development was concerned, the high school students of Yibin were found rather precocious, with very little sexual knowledge and psychological endurance in sexual affairs and a relative lack of sexual education.
CONCLUSIONIt is imperative to extend the scope of puberty sexual education in high schools. Teenagers must be taught different kinds of sexual knowledge at different periods of growth as well as how to avoid sexually transmitted diseases and gestation. The sexual knowledge level of the teachers must also be raised. It is a must to establish service or specialist consultation hot lines about sexual knowledge for teenagers. Parents are expected to change their traditional views and assume an active role in the joint efforts of sexual education for their children.

Objective:To analyze the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of gastric stump cancer.Method:The clinical data of 126 gastric stump cancer patients from Jan 1995 to Dec 2014 were collected . We analyzed the survival and prognosis of patients in terms of gender, tumor location, size, clinicopathological stage and treatment methods. Results:For primary surgery, B-Ⅱ GI reconstruction were more likely associated with gastric stump cancer, accounting for 69.8% of the total cases, and cancer was more likely to occur at the anastomotic stoma and in its vicinity, accounting for 62.3%. The 1'- , 3'- , and 5-year survival rates of 126 patients were 90.4%, 57.9%, and 41.2%, respectively. The 1'-, 3'- and 5-year overall survival rates in radical operation group were 96.9%, 74.2% and 53.6% respectively, while it was 69.0%, 3.4% and 0 respectively in palliative operation group (all P<0.01). Univariate analysis showed that tumor size, invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, distant organ metastasis, TNM stage, histological type, treatment mode and chemotherapy were related to the prognosis (all P<0.01). By multivariate analysis, radical resection and chemotherapy were protective factors for the prognosis ( P<0.01). Conclusion:Most gastric stump cancer are associated with distal subtotal gastrectomy and B-Ⅱ reconstruction . Radical resection is an effective therapy for gastric stump cancer.

Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of microsurgical resection in primary jugular foramen schwannomas (JFSs).Methods:A retrospective analysis was performed; the clinical data of 58 patients with JFSs treated by microsurgery in Department of Neurosurgery, First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from May 2012 to June 2021 were collected. Seven patients accepted microsurgery via suboccipital retrosigmoid approach, and 51 patients accepted microsurgery via jugular foramen approach. Fifty-three patients were followed up for 4.5 years (ranged from 0.5-8.5 years); follow-ups included Karnofsky performance status (KPS) scores, postoperative complications, and imaging reexaminations. Results:Fifty patients (86.2%) achieved total tumor resection and 8 (13.8%) subtotal resection. The KPS scores at discharge were 68.6±14.9, which were significantly lower than the preoperative KPS scores (77.6±13.5, t=2.452, P=0.017). During the follow-up, 5 patients(9.4%) had tumor recurrence, and 39 patients (73.6%) had improved symptoms after surgery. One patient (1.9%, modified Samii D type) died of cerebellar hemorrhage and swelling after surgery. The main complications included new/aggravated hoarseness (11/53), cerebrospinal fluid leakage (7/53), new/aggravated dysphagia (5/53), and new facial paralysis (4/53). Conclusion:In microsurgical resection of JFSs, short-term symptoms of the lower cranial nerves may be exacerbated, but long-term results are good.

Chinese Journal of Radiological Medicine and Protection 2024;44(5):428-435
Objective:To investigate the spatial resolution and image quality of positron emission tomography and X-ray computed tomography (PET/CT) based on the next-generation silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) and the conventional photomultiplier tube (PMT) and to explore the effects of different PET photoelectric transducers (PMT and SiPM) and the Q. Clear algorithm on the spatial resolution, quantitative accuracy, and image quality of PET/CT.Methods:GE Discovery Elite PET/CT (PMT PET/CT) and GE Discovery Meaningful Insights (MI) PET/CT (SiPM PET/CT) were employed to scan the elliptical resolution phantom and NEMA NU2-2018 image quality phantom. Using the OSEM+ PSF+ TOF (VPFX-S) algorithm, image reconstruction was performed based on raw data of both phantoms. For the MI-acquired phantom data, additional reconstructions were conducted using the Q. Clear algorithm, with β values ranging from 150 to 550 and an increment of 100. For the elliptical resolution phantom, the radial, tangential, and axial full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) values of five line sources in three slices were calculated and averaged. For the image quality phantom, the recovery coefficient (RC), contrast recovery coefficient (CRC), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), percentage of background variability (PBV), background coefficient of variability (BCV) of the spheres, as well as the residual error (RE) of lung inserts at different image slices, were calculated. Results:Compared to Elite, MI (VPFX-S) showed decreases in the radial, tangential, and axial FWHM of 4.25%-13.58%, 7.00%-13.22%, and 6.02%-36.14%, respectively; no significant difference in RCmax for the spheres; increases in spheres′ CRC and CNR of 10.17%-38.89% and 38.31%-94.95%, respectively, and decreases in spheres′ PBV and BCV of 26.20%-33.82% and 31.29%-35.97%, respectively. When compared to MI (VPFX-S), MI (Q.Clear) showed decreases in the radial, tangential, and axial FWHM of 6.49%-45.02%, 7.80%-35.60%, and 13.31%-36.80%, respectively; an increase in spheres′ CNR of 38.31%-94.95%; decreases in spheres′ PBV and BCV of 26.20%-33.82% and 6.64%-10.31%, respectively, and no significant difference in spheres′ RC. With an increase in the β value, the CNR, RE, and FWHM in radial, tangential, and axial directions derived from MI (Q.Clear) increased, while RC, CRC, PBV, and BCV decreased. Conclusions:Under image reconstruction using VPFX-S, the next-generation SiPM PET/CT exhibits elevated spatial resolution, hot lesion contrast, detectability, and background noise compared to the PMT PET/CT. Compared to OSEM, the Q. Clear algorithm improves spatial resolution, quantitative accuracy, and image quality, with such improvement related to the β value. The β value affects the outcomes of the Q. Clear algorithm, especially the maximum quantitative value of small lesions. This is particularly important for improving clinical diagnostic capabilities.
