OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of Telbivudine (LDT) Tablet combined with Jianpi Bushen Recipe (JBR) on serum hepatitis B virus (HBV) specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) and HBeAg seroconversion in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients.
METHODSTotally 90 HBeAg-positive and human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-A2 positive CHB patients were randomly assigned to the treatment group and the control group, 45 cases in each group. Patients in the treatment group took LDT Tablet (600 mg, once per day) combined with JBR granule (twice per day), while those in the control group took LDT Tablet alone. The therapeutic course for all was one year. HBV DNA negative conversion rate, HBeAg seroconversion rate, and level of HBV specific CTL were compared after 1 year treatment; liver function, drug resistance mutations, and adverse reactions were also compared between the two groups.
RESULTSAfter 1 year treatment, HBV DNA negative conversion rate and HBeAg seroconversion rate were 88.89% (40/45) and 40.00% (18/45) in the treatment group, higher than those of the control group [68.89% (31/45) and 20.00% (9/45)], with statistical difference (P < 0.05). Level of HBV specific CTL in the treatment group was 0.78% +/- 0.09% after treatment, higher than that of the control group after 1 year treatment (0.54% +/- 0.11%) and that before treatment (0.36% +/- 0.07%), with statistical difference (P < 0.01). Level of HBV specific CTL in 27 patients with HBeAg seroconversion was 0.81% 0.10%, higher than that of 63 patients without HBeAg seroconversion (0.60% +/- 0.09%), with statistical difference (P < 0.01). ALT returned to normal in 44 cases of the treatment group (97.78%), while it was 42 cases (93.33%) of the control group, with no statistical difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). Total bilirubin (TBil) in the two groups all turned to normal. rtM204I variation occurred in 1 case (2.22%) of the treatment group and 2 cases (4.44%) in the control group. No obvious adverse reaction occurred in the two groups.
CONCLUSIONLDT Tablet combined with JBR could elevate levels of HBV specific CTL and HBeAg seroconversion in CHB patients.

This study is to establish an HPLC-DAD-ELSD method for simultaneous determination of 5 flavones and saponins in Rhizoma Anemarrhenae including neo-mangiferin, mangiferin, timosaponin B II, timosaponin B III and timosaponin A III. Samples were analyzed on a Merck Purospher STAR column(4.6 mm x 250 mm, 5 μm). The mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile( A) and 0. 1% formic acid (B) with gradient elution at a flow rate of 1.0 mL · min(-1). The column temperature was set at 40 °C. The DAD detector wavelength was set at 254 nm. The ELSD conditions were as follows: the nebulizing gas flow rate was 2.0 L · min(-1) and temperature of drift tube was 105 °C. The volume was 10 μL. The five compounds were well separated with good linear correlations. The mean recoveries were between 102.0%-104.0%. This method was quick and reliable which provides a foundation for quality control of R. Anemarrhenae.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the human papillomavirus (HPV) and esophageal carcinoma in Baoding City of Hebei Province. Methods We detected HPV DNA in 42 formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissues from surgically resected esophageal carcinomas from Baoding City of Hebei Province, by PCR with the general primer set of GP5 +/6 + for HPV L1 gene and type-specific primer sets for HPV16 and 18 as well. Results 37 from 42 esophageal carcinoma samples were HPV positive and the rate was 88.1% . Among the samples detected, 19 were HPV16 E6 positive and rate was 45.2%, eight were HPV18 E6 positive and rate was 19.0%. Conclusion The high rate of HPV in the esophageal carcinoma samples suggested that HPV plays an etiologic role in the development of esophageal cancer in Baoding City of Hebei Province.

OBJECTIVETo explore the early rehabilitation effect of acupuncture on brain arousal in severe craniocerebral injury.
METHODSOne hundred and two cases of severe craniocerebral injury were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 51 cases in each one. Based on the conventional nursing care in neurological external medicine, in observation group, acupuncture was applied at Shuigou (GV 26), Neiguan (PC 6) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) mainly. In control group, functional electric stimulation was applied at stimulate the affected muscles of the upper limbs. Thirty days later, the lucid rate from coma, lucid interval and clinical efficacy were compared between two groups. RESULTS; The lucid rate from coma was 82.4% (42/51) in observation group, which was higher than 56.9% (29/51) in control group (P < 0.01). The lucid interval in observation group was shortened remarkably as compared with control group (P < 0.01), and the clinical efficacy was superior apparently to that in control group (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONOn the basis of conventional treatment, acupuncture intervention at early stage can accelerate the recovery of brain arousal function in patients with severe craniocerebral injury.

Objective To study the relationship between human papillomavirus (HPV) and esophageal cancer development in China. Methods We searched and collected the published articles in Chinese related to HPV and esophageal cancer, and selected the articles with the PCR approach to detect HPV in the esophageal cancer specimens. Results We filtered our publication collection with standards as (1) PCR as the detection approach, (2) specimens as the paraffin-embedded sections, and (3) description of the primer in the experiments, and fifteen articles were enrolled for our meta-analysis. Among the articles, totally 980 specimens were tested, and 460 were HPV positive with the average HPV prevalence was 46.9% (95% CI:43.8%-50.0% ), varied from 8.3%-69.8% in the different locations. On the other hands, among 556 specimens whose HPV detection spectrum included HPV16, 139 showed the positivity of HPV16, the average prevalence was 25.0%, (95% CI: 21.4%-28.6% ) varied from 4.4%-63.4% dependent on the locations; among 485 specimens whose HPV detection spectrum included HPV18, thirty-three specimens showed the positivity of HPV18, the average prevalence was 6.8% (95% CI: 4.6%-9.0%) varied from 0%-19.0% dependent on the locations. Third, among the fifteenarticles enrolled in the meta-analysis, four articles used the same primer set for HPV detection in totally 406 paraffin-embedded specimens with the prevalence of 40.2% (95% CI: 36.0%-45.4%) varied from 20.3%-67.6% in different locations. Conclusion Our analysis result suggested the HPV prevalence in the esophageal cancer samples of China and clued the possible etiological relationships between HPV infection and the esophageal cancer development.
