Objective To study the morphologic and pathological characteristics of cat scratch disease(CSD).Methods Eight cases with clinical data and tissue blocks were collected in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Hainan Province. The tissues were successively stained by hematox- ylin and eosin,Warthin-Starry(W-S),acid fast and periodic acid-schiff(PAS)methods to study the histopathological changes and pathogens. Results W-S positive Bartonella henselae was the major pathogen of CSD and there was no acid-fast or PAS positive pathogen could be found in the tissues. There were three forms of histological representation as follows:plasmocytoid monocytes(PMO)and monocytoid B-cells(MBC)hyperplasia plus neutrophils immersion in lymphatic sinus(2 cases); MBC rich granuloma and micro-abscess formation(3 cases); starlit abscess with little or no bacteria in the granuloma(3 cases). Conclusions Bartonella henselae mainly transmits through cats.Contact histo- ry with cats and lymphadenectasis suggest the possibility of CSD.The diagnosis can be confirmed by the presence of W-S staining positive bacteria,MBC rich granuloma or micro-abscess and neutrophil reactions in histopathological exam.

Objective To evaluate the outcome of combination of intensive preconditioning regimen allo-HSCT with imatinib for treatment of Ph chromosome positive acute lymphocyte leukemia (ALL). Methods Between 2009 and 2010, 8 patients diagnosed as Ph+ ALL received allo-HSCT from HLA identical sibling during complete remission. Imatinib was added into the therapies of 5 patients.Seven patients received the intensive preconditioning regimen based on BuCy2, one patient received the regimen of TBI-Cy. A median of 6. 02 × 108/kg mononuclear cells and 3. 14 × 106/kg CD34+ cells were transfused. GVHD prophylaxis included cyclosporine A and methotrexate. Results All patients were well tolerant to the regimen without serious regimen-related toxicity. The median time of ANC≥0. 5 × 109/L was 15. 5 days, and that of PLT≥20 × 109/L was 19 days. Thirty days after allo-HSCT, all patients got donor engraftment successfully. Among 8 cases, 4 cases presented acute GVHD, 2 developed degree Ⅰ , one developed degree Ⅱ , and one developed degree Ⅳ. Seven patients were alive 100 days after allo-HSCT, 3 of whom presented chronic GVHD. At the end of following-up period, 6 patients were alive, among them, 3 patients were alive without relapse; 3 patients relapsed; Two patients died, one from acute GVHD, and one from leukemia relapse. Conclusion Combined intensive preconditioning regimen allo-HSCT with Imatinib was an effective treatment for Ph+ ALL, but the effect of anti-chronic GVHD of imatinib should arouse certain attention.

Objectives: To evaluate mice as experimental animal for Chlamydia pneumoniae, a common cause of acute respiratory infections in human. Methods: Intranasal inoculation of Icr mice with C. Pneumoniae induced a prolonged course of lung infection, as demonstrated by persistence of lung pathology(60 days). Results: Icr mice were susceptible to C. pneumoniae. Lung pathology was characterized by patchy interstitial pneumonitis with predominately neutrophil leukocyte infiltration in the early(7 days) and lymphocytes infiltration in the later stages(14 days later) of infection. Conclusions:Icr mice were susceptible to C. pneumoniae and the mouse model is useful for the investigation of the pathogenesis of C. pneumoniae infection.

Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2004;20(5):795-799
The internal-loop granular sludge bed nitrifying reactor is a new type of aerobic nitrifying equipment and has taken on a good potential for nitrification. The critical aerating flux for liquid loop and critical aerating flux for fluidization of granular sludge are two important parameters for its operation. The relationship between liquid superficial velocity in riser (U1r) and aerating flux(Ugr) was studied, the model parameters were measured by experiment, and the relational expression was established. According to the model, the critical aerating flux for liquid loop and the critical aerating flux for fluidization of granular sludge were calculated as 1.017cm/min and 2.662cm/min, respectively. The experimental data from reactor operation showed that the two calculated critical aerating fluxes near the practical values. So they could be used to direct the design and operating optimization for the internal-loop granular sludge bed nitrifying reactor.
