1.Pro-prostate-specific antigen and its related indexes in the diagnosis of prostate cancer.
National Journal of Andrology 2015;21(7):655-658
Pro-prostate-specific antigen (proPSA) is the precursor of PSA and a form of free PSA (fPSA). In recent years, a lot of studies have been done on proPSA, the roles of its related indexes in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, and the value of its clinical application. The correlated indexes of proPSA include proPSA, % pPSA, p2PSA, % p2PSA and prostate health index (PHI). They are more effective than total PSA (tPSA) and fPSA in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, especially % p2PSA and PHI, which may significantly increase our ability to detect and identify PCa and lower the rate of unnecessary biopsies. This article presents an overview on the advances in the studies of proPSA and the application of its related indexes in the diagnosis of prostate cancer.

3.Minimally invasive techniques in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia: An update.
National Journal of Andrology 2016;22(5):387-392
Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) resulting from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) obviously impair the quality of life of middle-aged and elderly men. Current management of BPH includes wait-and-watch, medical therapy, and conventional surgery. As a new approach, minimally invasive surgery has been playing an increasingly important role in the management of BPH, with potential advantages of less operative trauma, quicker recovery, lower risk of postoperative complications and higher quality of life. This review mainly discusses prostatic urethral lift (Urolift® System), transurethral water vapor therapy (Rezūm® System) and robot-guided high-energy water ablation (PROCEPT Aquablation™ System).

Objective To investigate the expression of HSP70 mRNA or MDR1 mRNA by quercetin in leukemia. Methods Methyl thiazoly tetrazolium(MTT) asssy was used to detect the growth suppression of Quercetin on K562 cells. The expression of HSP70 mRNA and MDR1 mRNA were detected in ADM plus Quercetin,Quercetin plus ADM group. The 2 of them were detected in K562/ADM cells in Quercetin plus ADM group. Results 1.Quercetin could suppress the growth of K562 cells.2.The expression of HSP70 mRNA and MDR1 mRNA detected by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) decreased in K562 and K562/ADM cells in Quercetin plus ADM group compared with ADM group and control(P

Objective To study the morphologic and pathological characteristics of cat scratch disease(CSD).Methods Eight cases with clinical data and tissue blocks were collected in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Hainan Province. The tissues were successively stained by hematox- ylin and eosin,Warthin-Starry(W-S),acid fast and periodic acid-schiff(PAS)methods to study the histopathological changes and pathogens. Results W-S positive Bartonella henselae was the major pathogen of CSD and there was no acid-fast or PAS positive pathogen could be found in the tissues. There were three forms of histological representation as follows:plasmocytoid monocytes(PMO)and monocytoid B-cells(MBC)hyperplasia plus neutrophils immersion in lymphatic sinus(2 cases); MBC rich granuloma and micro-abscess formation(3 cases); starlit abscess with little or no bacteria in the granuloma(3 cases). Conclusions Bartonella henselae mainly transmits through cats.Contact histo- ry with cats and lymphadenectasis suggest the possibility of CSD.The diagnosis can be confirmed by the presence of W-S staining positive bacteria,MBC rich granuloma or micro-abscess and neutrophil reactions in histopathological exam.

Objective To investigate the roles of adrenomedullin(ADM) and endothelin-1(ET-1) in left-to-right shunt congenital heart disease(CHD) complicated with congestive heart failure(CHF).Methods Plasma ADM and ET-1 concentrations were measured by radioimmunoassay in heart failure stage and recovery period of 18 infants with left-to-right shunt CHD.Also 20 healthy infants acted as control group were measured. Results Plasma concentrations of ADM and EF-1 were significantly higher in heart failure stage of left-to-right CHD infants than those in their recovery period, and both in their heart failure stage and in their recovery period were higher than that in control group(P

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of reduced glutathione(GSH) on expression of malondialdehyde(MDA),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-PX) and superoxide dismutase(SOD) after focal cerebral infarction in rats.MethodsRat models of middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) were estabilished with thread after 2-hour ischemia and 6-hour reperfusion.Rats were divided at random into three groups,i.e.,sham-operated,control and treatment group(with GSH 1200 mg/kg) respectively. After the rats model was performed, neurology deficit score, the size of brain infarct region and the change of brain tissue pathologic were evaluated.Contents of MDA and activity of SOD and GSH-PX were detected with spectrophotometer.ResultsCompared with the control group,GSH can ameliorate neurological deficit score and decrease infarct volume induced by MCAO.GSH may reduce contents of MDA and improve activity of SOD and GSH-PX in brain tissue.ConclusionGSH may reduce contents of MDA and improve activity of SOD and GSH-PX so as to enhance capability of eliminating oxygen free radical, and play a neuroprotective effect after cerebral focal ischemia reperfusion.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1992;0(06):-
Objective To explore the serum level of gentamycin for orally in children with serious illness. Methods The serum level of gentamycin in 41 children who were in serious illness [multiple organ dysfunction(MODS)group with 21 cases and non-MODS group with 20 cases ] were monitored and the patients were treated with select decontamination of the digestive tract(SDD) from October 2004 to April 2005.Dosage:10 mg/(kg?d),orally taken three times(every 8 hours) one day.The blood after taking the drug one hour later in the fourth day was selected and the serum level of getamycin was monitored. Results Thirty-six children of 41 cases serum level of gentamycin were negative and 5 children(4 in MODS group and 1 in non-MODS group) who had alimentary tract hemorrhage were masccline in serum after taking gentamycin one hour later in the forth day.The absorption of gentamycin from enteric after orally was not(rela)-ted to MODS.There were statistics value between the gestrintestinal tract ulcer and serum level of gentamycin. Conclusions The safety for treating the children in serious illness with gentamycin for SDD is obvious. But we suggest to monitor the serum level of gentamycin for who has severe alimentary tract hemorrhage together with insufficiency of liver and kindey.
