1.Pro-prostate-specific antigen and its related indexes in the diagnosis of prostate cancer.
National Journal of Andrology 2015;21(7):655-658
Pro-prostate-specific antigen (proPSA) is the precursor of PSA and a form of free PSA (fPSA). In recent years, a lot of studies have been done on proPSA, the roles of its related indexes in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, and the value of its clinical application. The correlated indexes of proPSA include proPSA, % pPSA, p2PSA, % p2PSA and prostate health index (PHI). They are more effective than total PSA (tPSA) and fPSA in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, especially % p2PSA and PHI, which may significantly increase our ability to detect and identify PCa and lower the rate of unnecessary biopsies. This article presents an overview on the advances in the studies of proPSA and the application of its related indexes in the diagnosis of prostate cancer.

Chinese Journal of Emergency Medicine 2021;30(5):562-568
Objective:To evaluate iron metabolism disorders in sepsis patients and explore the effect of iron deficiency on mortality. Methods:Patients ( n=130) who were admitted to the emergency intensive care unit (ICU) of the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from September 2016 to July 2018 and met the diagnostic criteria of Sepsis 3.0 were selected, and sex- and age-matched healthy volunteers ( n=20) were enrolled as a control group. Peripheral venous blood samples were collected in sepsis patients on day 1, 3 and 7 after admission, or in the healthy volunteers upon enrollment, to detect iron metabolism-related indicators and interleukin-6 (IL-6); the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score was calculated upon hospital admission. Iron metabolism-related indicators were compared between the groups; the correlation of plasma iron with hemoglobin, hepcidin, ferritin, IL-6, sTFR/log ferritin and the ability of plasma iron to predict 28-day death of sepsis patients were analyzed. Results:Sepsis patients developed significant anemia on day 3 after admission; plasma iron, transferrin, iron saturation, total iron binding capacity and unsaturated iron binding capacity in the first week of admission were significantly lower than those in the control group; distribution width of red blood cells, ferritin, IL-6, hepcidin and soluble transferrin receptor were significantly higher than those in the control group. Distribution width of red blood cells, ferritin and hepcidin on day 3 and 7 after admission, and plasma iron and iron saturation on day 7 after admission were significantly higher than those on day 1. However, total iron binding capacity and unsaturated iron binding power on day 7, and sTFR/log ferritin on day 3 were significantly lower than those on day 1. Patients in the survival and non-survivor groups in the first week of admission had significant anemia on day 3 and 7, but the anemia was worse in the non-survivor group. Transferrin, total iron binding capacity, and unsaturated iron binding capacity in the non-survivor group in the first week of admission, and plasma iron in the non-survivor group on day 3 and 7, were significantly lower than those in the survival group. Ferritin, IL-6 and hepcidin in the non-survivor group in the first week of admission, and iron saturation on day 7 were significantly higher than those in the survival group. Spearman correlation analysis showed that plasma iron was negatively correlated with IL-6 ( r=-0.391, P<0.01), ferritin ( r=-0.293, P=0.001) and hepcidin ( r=-0.209, P=0.017), but not with hemoglobin ( r=0.005, P=0.958). The area under the operation curve (AUC) for plasma iron for predicting 28-day mortality in sepsis patients was 0.524 (95% CI: 0.416-0.631, P=0.656). Conclusions:Sepsis patients have significant anemia and iron metabolism disorders in the early stage, while non-survival patients are more severe. Reduced plasma iron level has no capacity to predict 28-day mortality of sepsis patients. In addition, decreased plasma iron level is not related to decreased hemoglobin, and thus iron supplementation should be cautious in sepsis patients.

Chinese Journal of Blood Transfusion 2001;0(06):-
Objective To establish a method for calculating deferral periods of blood donors having taken traditional Chinese medicines based on the drug's pharmacokinetics. Methods The pharmacokinetic method was used. For drugs that are not known to cause anaphylaxis or teratogenesis, the interval between last dose of drug and safe blood donation equals to t max plus 7t 1/2 .For drugs with known teratogenic and anaphylactic risks,a deferral period of 20 plasma elimination half lives and t maxis necessary. There are some rules independent of the drug's half life. Results 22 intervals of traditional Chinese medicine are determined. Conclusion Our recommendations for deferral periods of blood donors after traditional Chinese medicine treatment, based on pharmacokinetics can increase the safety of donated blood.

Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(08):-
Objective: To explore the way of innovation and development of the pattern and means in nursing management in military hospital. Methods:Through various innovative practice from the following aspects, such as nursing service philosophy and measures for soldiers, the methods of nursing management and the elite-cultivating,nursing security management, which demonstrates the availability of innovation and development of the pattern and means in nursing management in military hospital. Results:The satisfactory rate of nursing service reached up to 99% in the examination of serving for soldiers of the whole army. The instruments which are manufactured for battle-scarred wounds and injuries use the flat of the Wound Nursing Centre, have reached the stage of clinical trial,we have completed five items of serial nursing research. The control rate of nursing quality of the whole hospital increased from 93.12% in 2003 to 98.9% in 2006,the satisfactory ratio of serious in-patient increased from 90.2% in 2003 to 96.7% in 2005.The ratio of health education achieves 100%.The satisfactory ratio of in-patient was 98.4% in September 2005,compared with 89.3% in February 2004.Conclusion:Only innovation can make nursing management develop and improve in military hospital.

Objective To study the clinical characteristics and outcome of cytomegalovirus(CMV) infection in infants. Methods All data including time of infection, clinical characteristics, laboratory tests and outcome of CMV infections in hospitalized infants were collec-(ted) and analyzed from January,1994 to July,2004.Results In 87 infected infants, congenitally infected newborns, perinatal infection in infants and postnatal infection in infants accounted for 27.6%,62.0%,16.6%,respectively.CMV hepatitis was the most frequent type of disease with the incidence of 41.3%,in which the incidence of splenomegaly was 10.3%.Most of CMV hepatitis infants had a good prognosis with the improved rate 80.5%.Central nervous system abnormality(including abnormal intension of muscle, convulsion, ocular and hearing abnormalities) occurred only in congenital and perinatal infection with the incidence of 20.4%.Generalized infection, the incidence of congenital infection and perinatal infection was 16.7%,1.8%,respectively.It did not occur in postnatal infection. The mortality rate of congenital infection and perinatal infection were 12.5% and 1.85%,respectively.Conclusions CMV infection is the main cause of infant hepatitis and it can also cause neurologic sequelae. The outcome of generalized infection in congenital infection is bad and the mortality rate is high.

Objective To determine the reliability of the tooth wear index in representing the profile of tooth cervical defect. Methods One hundred and ninety-three teeth with wedge-shaped defects were selected in 69 plaster casts. The sizes of every wedge-shaped defect were measured by using vernire caliper and the volumes of those were calculated. Otherwise, by weighting the restoration of defects, the real volumes of the 9 teeth defects were calculated by formulating. Results The formulation for calculatin of the real volume of the defects was presented as: volume = 0.4735 + 2.5948 X (deep of profile X height X broad of defects)/6. The profile of the defect was strongly related to the volume. Conclusions The value of one dimension measure of the wedge-shaped defects may present the tooth wear index.
