Objective To explore the expression of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-2(TIMP-2) in peripheral blood lymphocytes in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases(COPD) and the association of smoking and TIMP-2 mRNA. Methods The expression of TIMP-2 mRNA in peripheral blood lymphocytes was measured by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) in 44 patients with COPD and 42 healthy smokers.The correlation analysis was then conducted between TIMP-2 mRNA expression and smoking index. Objective To study the anti-tumor effect of 5-aza-2′-deoxycytidine(5-aza-dC) on breast carcinoma xenografted in nude mice. Methods The model of breast carcinoma xenografted in nude mice was established.Ten mice were randomized into the treatment group(treated with 5-aza-dC) and control group(treated with PBS).The mass of the tumors before and after treatment were measured in the two groups,and the inhibition rate of the tumor was calculated and the growth curve was drawn.Immunohistochemistry and Western blotting were employed to detect the expression of normal epithelial cell specific-1(NES1)gene. The present paper proposed a central-driven structure of upper limb rehabilitation robot in order to reduce the volume of the robotic arm in the structure, and also to reduce the influence of motor noise, radiation and other adverse factors on upper limb dysfunction patient. The forward and inverse kinematics equations have been obtained with using the Denavit-Hartenberg (D-H) parameter method. The motion simulation has been done to obtain the angle-time curve of each joint and the position-time curve of handle under setting rehabilitation path by using Solid Works software. Experimental results showed that the rationality with the central-driven structure design had been verified by the fact that the handle could move under setting rehabilitation path. The effectiveness of kinematics equations had been proved, and the error was less than 3° by comparing the angle-time curves obtained from calculation with those from motion simulation.

Objective To analyze the central effect of Qi-Yin Deficiency Syndrome (QYDS) scoring in clinical trials of diabetes.Methods Dispensation degree analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were adopted to compare the differences of central effects among the Qi-Yin deficiency syndrome scoring,fasting plasma glucose (FPG) level and 2-hour postprandial blood sugar (2 hPG)level before and after treatment in the suited databases from two phase Ⅲclinical trials of type two diabetes performed in 2004～2005.Results The variation coefficients of QYDS scoring treated with drug A and drug B varied from one tenth to half times of those of FPG and 2 hPG levels before and after treatment.And the influence of centers on QYDS is weaker than those on blood sugar levels (FPG &2 hPG) either referring to the numbers of significant centers or referring to the absolute values of standard regression coefficients in multiple linear regression equation.Conclusion There exists a central effect in QYDS scoring before and after treatment,and the central effect of QYDS scoring is weaker than that of blood sugar levels (FPG &2 hPG) in clinical trials of diabetes.

OBJECTIVE:To observe clinical efficacy and safety of tanshinone combined with limbal stem cells transplantation in the treatment of pterygium. METHODS:Totally 97 cases (118 eyes) of primary pterygium admitted into our hospital during Feb. 2010-Sept. 2014 were analyzed retrospectively,and divided into observation group (48 cases,57 eyes) and control group (49 cases,61 eyes). Both groups received autologous limbal stem cell transplantation. The control began to give Tobramycin and dexamethasone eye drops 1-2 drop 1 week before surgery,every 4-6 h one times. Observation group was given Tanshinone cap-sules 0.5 g,po,tid,one week before surgery,for 3 months. Repair time of corneal epithelium and local symptom regression time were compared between 2 groups. Corneal astigmatism and corrected visual acuity were observed in 2 groups before and 1,3 months after surgery. The occurrence of recurrence and ADR was analyzed statistically in 2 groups. RESULTS:The repairing time of corneal pithelial and local symptom regression time in observation group were significantly shorter than control group,with statis-tical significance (P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in corneal astigmatism and corrected visual acuity between 2 groups before and one month after surgery (P>0.05). 1,3 months after surgery,corneal astigmatism of 2 groups was decreased significantly and corrected visual acuity was increased significantly than before surgery,and 3 months after surgery the observation group was significantly better than the control group,with statistical significance (P<0.05). The recurrence rate of observation group was 3.51%,which was significantly lower than 14.75% of control group,with statistical significance(P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in the incidence of ADR between 2 groups(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Tanshinone combined with autol-ogous limbal stem cell transplantation in the treatment of pterygium can shorten the time of corneal epithelial repair and local symp-toms,restore the visual function of patients and reduce recurrence rate with good safety.

To create a comparative referential system for syndrome classification study by viewing from the thinking characteristics of TCM on syndrome differentiation dependent therapy (SDDT), through analyzing the thinking process of SDDT, and the basic features of disease, syndrome and prescription, combining the basic principles of modern evidence-based medicine and feasibility of establishing integrative disease-syndrome animal model. The practice of creating a comparative referential system based on clinical efficacy of prescription was discussed around syndrome pathogenesis and its relationship with disease and prescription, which was one of the important scientific problems in TCM syndrome study. The authors hold that, it may be one of the available approaches for the present study on integration of disease with syndrome by way of insisting on the thinking pathway of stressing the characteristics of TCM and intermerging with modern scientific design; on taking the efficacy of prescription as the comparative reference system to accumulate and improve unceasingly according to the TCM method of syndrome diagnosis inferred from effect of prescription with reverse thought (i.e., to differentiate syndrome from the effect of prescription), and thus build up the syndrome diagnostic standard on the solid clinical and scientific base.
