Objective:To observe different effects of moxibustion at Zusanli (ST 36) and Yanglingquan (GB 34) on electrogastrogram (EGG) of patients with functional dyspepsia (FD). Methods:A total of 65 cases were randomized into a Zusanli (ST 36) group (n=33) and a Yanglingquan (GB 34) group (n=32) by random serial number, to receive moxibustion therapy to the corresponding point respectively. The 8-lead EGG was used before and after treatment to collect EGG parameter of the gastric body, antrum of stomach, lesser curvature and greater curvature, including the dominant frequency, slow wave percentage, average frequency, response area and motility index. Results:After treatment, the dominant frequency and slow wave percentage were improved in nearly the whole stomach area in Zusanli (ST 36) group, showing statistical significances (bothP<0.05); the slow wave percentage and average frequency were improved in stomach body and antrum of stomach in Yanglingquan (GB 34) group, showing statistical significances (bothP<0.05); moxibustion at Zusanli (ST 36) had a significantly higher influence on EGG than Yanglingquan (GB 34) , in which the lifting of slow wave percentage was significantly higher than Yanglingquan (GB 34) group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Moxibustion at Zusanli (ST 36) and Yanglingquan (GB 34) has the effect of adjusting abnormal EGG pattern in FD patients. Compared with Yanglingquan (GB 34), Zusanli (ST 36) has a superior effect in improving EGG in stomach area.

Objective To evaluate the effects of positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) targeting optimal oxygenation on local gas distribution and inflammation in dogs with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Methods ARDS was induced by saline alveoli-lavage and oleic acid intravenous. The animals were mechanical ventilated 4 h at optimal PEEP titrated by oxygenation. Computed tomography (CT) scans were performed before and after induction of ARDS and at the end the study. NF-κB was measured by electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA), IL-6 and IL-10 were assessed by ELISA.Myeloperoxidase (MPO) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were measured. Pathological changes were examined under optical microscope. Results (1) Compared to baseline, total lung volumes decreased and nonaerated areas increased significantly after the induction of ARDS in both groups (P < 0.05 ). Compared with ARDS models, PEEP titrated to achieve optimal oxygenation resulted in greater lung recruitment but was accompanied with hyperinflation, hyperinflation occurred in non-dependent lung. Compared with oleic acidinjured ARDS, the changing of hyperinflated lung areas was increased markedly in saline lavage-injured ARDS (P<0.05). (2) Compared with right lung ventral lower lobe, lung injury score was lower in right lung upper lobe. Histological injury in right lung dorsal lower lobe was severer than that in right lung upper lobe and right lung ventral lower lobe. NF-κB activation of right lung dorsal lower lobe was markedly higher than right lung upper lobe (P < 0.05 ). MPO and MDA were much higher with right lung dorsal lower lobe than right lung upper lobe and right lung ventral lower lobe ( P < 0.05 ). Compared with right lung upper lobe and right lung ventral lower lobe, IL-6 and IL-10 increased markedly in right lung dorsal lower lobe ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusions Alveolar hyperinflation and aggravated lung injury in non-dependent region were occurred at PEEP targeting optimal oxygenation. Hyperinflation was more common in saline lavage-injured ARDS.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Tetramethyl pyrazine (TMP) on the cytokines and inflammatory mediators in the serum and the synovial fluid of collagen-induced arthritis (CIA)rats, and further to investigate its possible mechanisms for treating rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
METHODSType II CIA rat model was established. Rats in the TMP group were administered with TMP at 50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg, once daily. Dexamethasone at 2.0 mg/kg was intramuscularly injected to those in the Dexamethasone treated group, once daily. Normal saline at 2 mL/kg was given to those in the normal control group and the model group, once daily. All medication was started from the 7th day, lasting to the 35th day. CIA rats' foot swelling degree was observed. Contents of serum IL-1, IL-6, IL-2, NO and PGE2in the synovial fluid were detected by radioimmunoassay and nitrate reduction method.
RESULTSCompared with the normal group, the foot swelling obviously increased, contents of NO and PGE2 in the synovial fluid were obviously elevated in the model group (P < 0.01). Compared with the model group, the foot swelling could be obviously inhibited by 100 mg/kg TMP and Dexamethasone; serum levels of IL-1 and IL-6 obviously decreased, serum IL-2 level obviously increased, contents of NO and PGE, decreased (P < 0.01). TMP 50 mg/kg could obviously inhibit the foot swelling of CIA rats (P < 0.01). There was no statistical difference in other indices (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSTMP at 100 mg/kg showed obvious inhibition on CIA rats. Its inhibitory effect might be correlated to inhibiting activities of endogenous cytokines and the generation of inflammatory mediators in inflammation local regions, improving contents of anti-inflammation cytokines, and inducing the balance of the inflammatory cytokine network.

Objective To evaluate the value of tomographic ultrasound imaging(TUI)in the fetal heart screening. Methods One hundred and ten volume datasets acquired from normal fetal heart in the second trimester with spatio-temporal image correlation(STIC) were evaluated offline with TUI. The Bmode and CDFI static images as well as the dynamic loops of one cardiac eycle could be reviewed simultaneously. The visualizing rate and ultrasonic scores of the 4 chamber view, outflow tracts and 3 vessels (and trachea)view obtained from TUI and routine ultrasonography for fetal heart screening were respectively compared. Results Among all 110 cases, the visualizing rate of 4 chamber view, outflow tracts and 3 vessels(and trachea) view were respectively 100%(67),88.9%(45),80.0%(45),84.4%(32)in Bmode and 100%(33),86.2%(25),50.0%(14),100%(4)in CDFI under the same fetal Dositi.n.No significant differences of the visualization rate were found between TUI and routine screening either in Bmode or in CDFI(P>0.05). The median score of 4 chamber view of TUI in B-mode was little higher than that in routine screening, while the right outflow tract of screening in CDFI significantly higher than that of TUI(P<0.05). Conclusions The visualizing rates and qualities of TUI are sufficient for fetal heart screening offline as well as routine ultrasonography online in second trimester.
