0.05.The neuronal necrosis area in group A are significantly higher than group B and C [(1.8?0.7)vs(0.9?0.4)and(0.6?0.3),both are P0.05.The neuronal necrosis area and the level of NSE in fetus were positively correlated with each other,r=0.798,P0.05.The volume of mitochondria of nerve cells in group A and B are significantly higher than that of group C [(7.0?1.8)?10~(-4)?m~3 and(5.7?1.6)?10~(-4)?m~3 vs(3.2?1.2)?10~(-4) ?m~3,both are P0.05). Conclusions There is apparente pathological change of fetal rats brain in cholic acid groups, the neuronal degeneration and the mitochondria swelling was mainly found in low cholic acid group, the neuronal necrosis and the mitochondria decrease was mainly found in high cholic acid group. The serum concentration of TBA and NSE in fetal rats were positively correlated with each other.

AIM: To investigate the effects of lipid-induced insulin resistance on plasma resistin and ghrelin levels in awake rats. METHODS: A hyperinsulinaemic-euglycaemic clamp was established in awake chronically catheterized rats. Two groups of rats were studied either with a 4 h intraarterial infusion of lipid/heparin or saline. Insulin-mediated peripheral and hepatic glucose metabolism was assessed by insulin clamp combined with [~3H]-glucose infusion, and plasma resistin and ghrelin concentrations were examined before and after clamp with ELISA. RESULTS: During clamp, there was a significant increase in plasma free fatty acid (FFA, P

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Tetramethyl pyrazine (TMP) on the cytokines and inflammatory mediators in the serum and the synovial fluid of collagen-induced arthritis (CIA)rats, and further to investigate its possible mechanisms for treating rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
METHODSType II CIA rat model was established. Rats in the TMP group were administered with TMP at 50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg, once daily. Dexamethasone at 2.0 mg/kg was intramuscularly injected to those in the Dexamethasone treated group, once daily. Normal saline at 2 mL/kg was given to those in the normal control group and the model group, once daily. All medication was started from the 7th day, lasting to the 35th day. CIA rats' foot swelling degree was observed. Contents of serum IL-1, IL-6, IL-2, NO and PGE2in the synovial fluid were detected by radioimmunoassay and nitrate reduction method.
RESULTSCompared with the normal group, the foot swelling obviously increased, contents of NO and PGE2 in the synovial fluid were obviously elevated in the model group (P < 0.01). Compared with the model group, the foot swelling could be obviously inhibited by 100 mg/kg TMP and Dexamethasone; serum levels of IL-1 and IL-6 obviously decreased, serum IL-2 level obviously increased, contents of NO and PGE, decreased (P < 0.01). TMP 50 mg/kg could obviously inhibit the foot swelling of CIA rats (P < 0.01). There was no statistical difference in other indices (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSTMP at 100 mg/kg showed obvious inhibition on CIA rats. Its inhibitory effect might be correlated to inhibiting activities of endogenous cytokines and the generation of inflammatory mediators in inflammation local regions, improving contents of anti-inflammation cytokines, and inducing the balance of the inflammatory cytokine network.

AIM:To observe the effect of fresh amniotic membrane transplantation ( FAMT) in acute ocular chemical burns.
●METHODS:A prospective study of 25 consecutive cases (36 eyes) with acute ocular chemical burns were treated with FAMT. The clinical efficacy was observed such as the time of amniotic membrane absorbed, corneal epithelialization & transparency, visual acuities and complications.
●RESULTS: With follow-up ranged from 3 to 6mo, 31 eyes′ amniotic membrane were dissolved in 2wk (86%). A total of 33 eyes showed corneal epithelialization in 4wk ( 92%) , 3 eyes showed persistent corneal epithelial defects and need secondary limbal stem cell transplantation or corneal transplantation ( 8%) . A total of 10 eyes showed superficial corneal vascularization (28%), 6 eyes′ cornea were opacity in part (17%), and one eye was symblepharon (3%).
●CONCLUSION:Early FAMT is an effective treatment in the management of acute ocular chemical burns to support epithelial healing, restore ocular surface integrity with potential to improve vision and reduce the incidence of complications. Furthermore, FAMT has advantages of easily obtain and convenient usage, which is suitable in local hospital of our country.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2008;24(5):527-528
Fasting plasma preptin level was assayed by RIA in the patients with different glucose tolerances. Regarding fasting plasma preptin levels, it was higher in females than in males. Fasting plasma preptin level was increased in patients with type 2 diabetes as compared with subjects of impaired glucose tolerance and normal controls, and there were positive correlations with diastolic blood pressure, blood triglyceride, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, free fatty acids, 2 h plasma glucose after glucose load, HbA1C and HOMA-IR, suggesting a potential link between preptin and glucose-lipid metabolism and insulin resistance.

To evaluate the association of ealpain-10 gene UCSNP-43 polyorphism with type 2 diabetes in Chinese Han population.Meta-analysis showed that calpain-10 gene UCSNP-43 polymorphism may be associated with type 2 diabetes in Chinese Han population.Allele G and genotypo GG may be risk factors for type 2 diabetes, while allele A and genotype GA may be the protective factors.

Objective:To probe the influence ofrelated index ofmetabolic syndrome on TCM clinical syndrome. Methods:A statistical factor analysis was made to related index ofmetabolic syndrome in 1 231 random people ofphysical examination. To probe the influence ofsyndrome differentiation offive zang on common factor. Results:The results indicated that there were close relationship between liver and lipid, heart and blood pressure, kidney and fasting plasma glucose. There were neither evident mutuality between abdominal circumference and syndromes offive zang, nor between related index ofmetabolic syndrome and the lung or the spleen. Conclusion:Regulation ofthe liver, heart and kidney in TCM may be the key to prevention and treatment ofmetabolic syndrome.
