BACKGROUND: Negative pressure of limbs is a convenient, safe and unwound way to treat peripheral arterial occlusion and to relieve pain.Prostaglandin E1 can directly rellax vascular smooth muscles and relieve pain on nerve.OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of negative pressure of limbs immunologic reaction positive nerve fiber of prostaglandin E1 in sensory nerve fiber of central nervous system of dogs with peripheral arterial occlusion.DESIGN: Randomized controlled animalstudy.SETTING: Tumor Center of Zhujiang Hospital affiliated to Southern Medical University, the Third General Surgery of Xijing Hospital affiliated to the Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA.MATERIALS: The experiment was carried out in the Animal Laboratory of Xijing Hospital affiliated to the Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA from April 2003 to May 2004. A total of 17 healthy adult hybrid dogs were randomly divided into three groups: treatment group (n=10),non-treatment group (n=5) and normal control group (n=2), according to randomly digital table.METHODS: Ischemic models of left hindlimb were established in treatment group and non-treatment group. Fourteen days later, dogs in treatment group were given negative pressure (-12kPa) treatment for 15 minutes. The negative pressure was done once a day for 10 successive days.However, negative pressure was not done in non-treatment group. Animals were not interfered in normal control group.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Twenty-four days later, dogs in each group were anesthetized and sacrificed. L1-L5 spinal cord and ganglia of dorsal root were selected and stained with immunohistochemical method to detect average giay value of immunologic reaction positive nerve fiber of prostaglandin E 1.RESULTS: A total of 17 dogs were involved in the final analysis. Average gray values of immunologic reaction positive nerve fiber of prostaglandin E1 in spinal cord were 75.23±4.3 in non-treatment group, 43.22±3.7 in treatment group and 22.00±5.8 in normal control group; average gray values of immunologic reaction positive nerve fiber of prostaglandin E1 in ganglia of dorsal root were 67.12±2.3, 40.08±3.8, 27.64±2.7, respectively.There was no significant difference among the three groups (P＜0.01).CONCLUSION: After onset of peripheral arterial occlusion, amount of immunologic reaction positive nerve fiber of prostaglandin E1 in spinal cord and ganglia of dorsal root of distal limbs is increased remarkably, and this may be a kink of auto-protective mechanism of organism. Negative pressure can relieve pain of limbs and decrease damaged-stimulated transmission of peripheral arterial occlusion.

Objective The evaluate the accuracy of loss of resistance technique for location of fascia iliaca compartment using ultrasound technique.Methods One hundred and seventy-five patients undergoing hip surgery were enrolled in the study.A line was drawn on the skin from the pubic tubercle to the anterior superior iliac spine and divided in three equal parts.The site of puncture was marked 2 cm distal to the point at which the lateral met the middle third of the line.The needle was inserted until a loss of resistance was felt twice (fascia lata and fascia iliaca),at which point 0.5 ％ ropivacaine 30 ml was infused.Correct puncture was identified by visualized spread of local anesthetic solution under the guidance of ultrasound technique.The effective sensory block was recorded within 20 min after administration.Results The accuracy of loss of resistance method for locating the fascia iliac compartment was 56.6 ％ using ultrasound technique.There were 80 patients in whom fault site of puncture occurred:25 cases in the superficial layer of the fascia iliac and 51 cases in the iliopsoas muscle.The rate of effective block was 98.0 ％ for correct location and 82.9 ％ for fault location.Conclusion Loss of resistance technique cannot accurately locate the fascia iliac compartment.

BACKGROUND:Intraocular refractive operation with phakic intraocular lens implantation has been used in highly refractive errors patients with over-high diopter and thinner corneal thickness, which has the advantages of reversibility and retain the eye's accommodation. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the safety and stability of posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens implantation in comparison with Lasik correction for high myopia. METHODS:Total y 126 col ege students with high myopia, 63 males and 63 females, aged (21.87±1.18) years, were randomly divided into test and control groups. In the test group, col ege students received posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens implantation, while those in the control group were subject to Lasik correction. During 1-year fol ow-up, naked vision, corrected visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, and postoperative untoward reaction were observed, and the effectiveness and safety indexes were calculated in the two groups. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The effectiveness and safety indexes in the test group were both superior to those in the control group (P<0.05). After 1 year of fol ow-up, the contrast sensitivity light and dark environment in the test group was significantly improved, which was also higher than that in the control group. Decreased night vision and glare was found in five cases of the control group and one case of the test group. These findings indicate that posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens implantation is safe and effective that can improve the visual quality in clinic.

As a clean, efficient, and renewable energy, hydrogen is regarded as a promising alternative. Because of using biomass as substrate, microbial fermentative hydrogen production can meet the need of sustainable development. The factors affecting the process of microbial fermentative hydrogen production, are analyzed in this paper on the basis of microorganisms, substrates, products and operative parameters. The parameters related to hydrogen production from organic wastes, are also mentioned.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy and safety of testosterone undecanoate (TU) in the treatment of late-onset hypogonadism (LOH) by meta-analysis.

METHODSWe searched Pubmed (until April 1, 2014), Embase (until March 28, 2014), Cochrane Library (until April 17, 2014), CBM (from January 1, 2001 to February 2, 2014), CNKI (from January 1, 2001 to February 2, 2014), Wanfang Database (from January 1, 2000 to February 2, 2014), and VIP Database (from January 1, 2000 to Febru ary 2, 2014) for randomized controlled trials of TU for the treatment of LOH. We evaluated the quality of the identified literature and performed meta-analysis on the included studies using the Rveman5. 2 software.

RESULTSTotally, 14 studies were included after screening, which involved 1 686 cases. Compared with the placebo and blank control groups, TU treatment significantly increased the levels of serum total testosterone (SMD = 6.22, 95% CI 3.99 to 8.45, P < 0.05) and serum free testosterone (SMD = 4.35, 95% CI 1.86 to 6. 85, P < 0.05) but decreased the contents of luteinizing hormone (WMD = -2.23, 95% CI -4.03 to -0.42, P < 0.05), sex hormone binding globulin (WMD = 2.00, 95% CI 1.38 to 2.63, P < 0.05). TU also remarkably reduced the scores of Partial Androgen Deficiency of the Aging Males (WMD = -9.49, 95% CI -12.96 to -6.03, P < 0.05) and Aging Males Symptoms rating scale (WMD = -2.76, 95% CI -4.85 to -0.66, P <0.05) but increased the hemoglobin level (SMD = 2.35, 95% CI 0.29 to 4.41, P < 0.05) and packed-cell volume (SMD = 4.35, 95% CI 1.36 to 7.33, P < 0.05). However, no significant changes were shown in aspertate aminotransferase, alanine transaminase, prostate-specific antigen, or prostate volume after TU treatment (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONTU could significantly increase the serum testosterone level and improve the clinical symptoms of LOH patients without inducing serious adverse reactions. However, due to the limited number and relatively low quality of the included studies, the above conclusion could be cautiously applied to clinical practice.

Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) technology originated in China during the Eastern Jin Dynasty and has rapidly developed over the past two decades, becoming a primary method for studying the causal relationship between gut microbiota and the occurrence and progression of diseases. At the same time, the therapeutic effects of FMT in the field of gastrointestinal diseases have gained widespread recognition and are gradually expanding into other disease areas. The FMT procedure is relatively complex, and there is currently no standardized method; its success is influenced by various factors, including the donor, recipient, processing of the fecal material, and the method of implantation. Given the increasingly recognized relationship between gut microbiota and various diseases, FMT has become a research hotspot in both scientific studies and clinical applications, achieving a series of significant advancements. To help researchers better understand this technology, this paper will outline the development history of FMT, summarize common operational methods in research and clinical settings, review its application progress, and look forward to future development directions.

Objective To explore the value of quantitative measurement of carotid intima-media thickness and elasticity for evaluating the degree of coronary heart disease by radio frequency ultrasonography. Methods From February 2011 to June 2012, a total of 142 subjects in cardiovascular internal medicine of the fourth military medical university Tangdu hospital with suspected CAD were enrolled in this study and were divided into non CAD group (n=35), atherosclerosis group in which coronary stenosis rate was less than 50%and no hemodynamic changes were detected (n=33), single artery involved group in which coronary stenosis rate was more than 50% (n=36) and multi-artery involved group in which coronary stenosis rate was more than 50%(n=38) based on the results of the coronary angiography (CAG). Measure the left common carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT) and blood vessel elasticity index including the left common carotid artery pulse wave velocity (PWV) and stiffness index (β). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to calculate and compare the degrees of coronary heart disease, area under the curve of the left carotid artery elasticity parameters, cut-off value,sensitivity, speciifcity and Youden's index. Results LIMT, LPWV and Lβhad statistical signiifcance differences among four groups (F=3.621, 4.769 and 4.756, all P<0.05). The maximum values of parameter area under ROC curve were all observed in multi-artery involved groups and were 0.759 (LIMT), 0.770 (LPWV) and 0.764 (Lβ). The maximum value of Youden's index of the left common carotid artery intima-media thickness was observed in the coronary atherosclerosis group and was 0.513. The maximum value of Youden's index of the left common carotid artery pulse wave velocity and stiffnessβwere both observed in the multi-artery involved group and were 0.524 and 0.469. For diagnosing multivessel lesions, the sensitivities of LIMT, LPWV and Lβwere 71.0%, 77.4%and 71.0%, and the speciifcities were 73.4%, 74.7%and 75.9%. Conclusions The carotid elastic parameters have better predictive value for multivessel lesions. LPWV and Lβhave higher predictive value for coronary arterial disease than LIMT.

OBJECTIVE: Anti-Ro52 antibodies are frequently co-occur with other myositis-specific and myositis-associated autoantibodies, we here to study this phenomenon in Chinese patients suspected with inflammatory myopathies. METHODS: In the study, 1 509 patients clinically suspected with inflammatory myopathies were tested for 11 kinds of myositis-specific and myositis-associated autoantibodies (including: anti-Jo-1, PL-7, PL-12, EJ, OJ, Mi-2, SRP, Ku, PM-Scl 75, PM-Scl 100, and Ro52 antibo-dies) by line-blot immunoassay from 2010 to 2016 in Peking University First Hospital. This retrospective study was to analyze these results to reveal the characteristics of anti-Ro52 antibodies co-occuring with other myositis autoantibodies. The data were analyzed using SPSS 17.0 and Graph Pad PRISM for Chi-square test, independent t-test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and drawing statistical graphs. Significance level was set at P < 0.05. RESULTS: The positive rate of anti-Ro52 antibodies was 18.3% (276/1 509 cases), which was the most frequently detected myositis antibodies in our center. 51.8% (143/276) of the patients with anti-Ro52 antibodies were combined with the other myositis antibodies, and the most common co-occurred antibodies were anti-SRP antibodies (18.8%, 52/276), and the second common co-occurred antibodies were anti-Jo-1 antibodies (13.0%, 36/276). Anti-Ro52 antibodies were the most common antibodies that co-occurred in other myositis antibodies positive patients except in anti-OJ antibodies positive group. The co-positive rate with anti-Ro52 antibodies was the lowest in anti-PM-Scl 75 positive group (30.4%, 31/102), and the highest in anti-EJ positive group (80.0%, 12/15). The positive rate of anti-Ro52 antibodies in anti-synthase antibodies (including anti-Jo-1, EJ, OJ, PL-7, and PL-12 antibodies) positive group was 57.3% (75/131), which was significantly higher than that in the other antibodies (including: anti-Mi-2, SRP, Ku, PM-Scl 75, and PM-Scl 100 antibodies) positive group with 35.2% (119/338) (χ²=18.916, P < 0.001). The intensity of anti-Jo-1, EJ, and SRP antibodies in the group of the patients that co-occurred with anti-Ro52 antibodies was significantly higher than that in the other group without anti-Ro52 antibodies respectively (P < 0.05). The intensity of anti-SRP antibodies was significantly correlated with that of anti-Ro52 antibodies (r=0.44, P=0.001). CONCLUSION Anti-Ro52 antibodies were commonly associated with other myositis-specific and myositis-associated autoantibodies, especially with anti-synthase antibodies, and the co-presence of anti-Ro52 antibodies may be correlated with the myositis antibody intensity.

To provide insights into the mechanism for the attenuate-synergistic effect of Zuota to Tibetan medicine Renqing Mangjue, a contrasted study was carried out on the pharmacokinetics of brucine and strychnine in mice plasm, which are active and toxicant ingredient in the Tibetan medicine Renqing Mangjue. LC-MS/MS was used to detect simultaneously the concentrations of brucine and strychnine in mice plasm at-different time intervals after administration parallelly and randomly, and the pharmacokinetic software Kinetica 5. 0 was selected to non-compartmental analysis (NCA) for data, and statistical analysis software SPSS 19. 0 was used for significance test on the pharmacokinetic parameters. A reliable LC-MS/MS method was established for the determination of brucine and strychnine in blood plasma, which are consistent with the requirements of the preclinical pharmacokinetic study confirmed by the methodology. The linear concentration ranges of brucine and strychnine were 0.301-104.4 µg · L(-1) (r = 0.999 5) and 0.305-106 µg · L(-1) (r = 0.999 7), respectively; The intra-day and inter-day variable coefficients were both less than 10.0% with good precision; The average extraction recoveries of brucine and strychnine were 116.23% and 112.82%, and RSD were 3.2% and 2.3% separately;The average matrix effects of brucine and strychnine were 122.48% and 116.36%, and RSD were 7.7% and 4.4%, respectively. The pharmacokinetic results showed that AUCtot of brucine and strychnine in Zuota group were both increased remarkably (P < 0.05), and the Cmax of brucine in Zuota group was about 5.25-fold higher than that of brucine in non-Zuota group (P < 0.05). The Tmax of brucine and strychnine reduced to one-eighth and one-quarter respectively compared with those in Non-Zuota group. In addition, the eliminations of brucine and strychnine in vivo were accelerated after the compatibility of Zuota. A significant difference (P < 0.05) occurred at the MRT0-t, of brucine, while the MRT0-∞ and Lz of strychnine were statistically significant upon the inspection level α = 0.1. It was found that the absorption degree of brucine and strychnine in Zuota group increased in the range of the safe dose (or concentration), while their elimination rates were accelerated, which may be one of the mechanisms for attenuate-synergistic effect of Zuota to Tibetan medicine Renqing Mangjue.
