Objective To evaluate four tumor markers of insulin-like growth factor 1((IGF-1), CEA, cytokeratin fragment antigen 21-1 (CYFRA21-1), neuron-specific enolase (NSE) for the diagnosis and prediction of treatment response in human lung cancer. Methods Serum samples were taken from three groups: 91 patients with lung cancer, 30 healthy adults and 15 patients with benign pulmonary diseases. Serum IGF-1 was assayed by radioimmunoassay and CEA, CYFRA21-1, and NSE by electrochemiluminescence immunoassay. The differences among the three groups were determined by Kruskal-Wallis one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and with Mann-Whitney rank-sum test. Diagnostic efficacy was evaluated by ROC curves. Results The four serum tumor marker levels were significantly higher in lung cancer group, as compared with the benign and the healthy (IGF-1:χ2=26.95,P<0.001, CEA:χ2=49.11,P<0.001; CYFRA21-1:χ2=40.63,P<0.001; NSE:χ2=14.76;P<0.001). The diagnostic sensitivities of IGF-1, CEA, CYFRA21-1 and NSE was 75.6% (34/45), 53.3% (24/45), 66.7% (30/45) and 42.2% (19/45) respectively for lung cancer. The diagnostic sensitivity of IGF-1 combined with CYFRA21-1 was 95.5 %( 43/45) and that of IGF-1 combined with CEA and CYFRA21-1was 97.8%(44/45). Only IGF-1 and CYFRA21-1 showed significant changes before and after treatment (IGF-1: χ2=5.99,P=0.014; CYFRA21-1:χ2=4.99, P=0.025) in cancer group. Conclusions Serum IGF-1, CEA, CYFRA21-1 and NSE are all valuable for lung cancer diagnosis and the combination of those parameters can enhance the diagnostic efficiency. Serum IGF-1 and CYFRA21-1 may also be useful for evaluating the treatment response in lung cancer.

Effect of ginsenoside total saponin (GTS) on the regulation of P450 of livers of rats after γ-ray irradiation was studied. Rats were irradiated by the ⁶⁰Coγ-ray for one-time dose of 5.5 Gy, dose rate of 117.1-119.2 cGy. The cocktail probe, qPCR and Western blot were used to detect expression of enzymatic activites, mRNA and protein of rats. Contrasted with blank group, expression of CYP1A2, 2B1, 2E1, 3A4 of irradiation group showed a up-regulated (P < 0.05). Contrasted with irradiation group, exprression of CYP1A2, 2B1, 2E1, 3A4 of GTS group showed a downward trend. GTS had negative agonistic action against expression of P450 of rats by irradiatied.

Chinese Journal of General Surgery 1997;0(06):-
Objective To explore a method to improve the nutritional state and immune function of patients after radical gastrectomy, and to decrease postoperative complication rate and accelerate recovery from operation. Methods In line with the concept of fast tract surgery (FTS),a new perioperative nutritional schedule was made for patients prior to radical gastrectomy, ehich included preoperative nutritional risk screen and prophylactic enteral nutrition, early postoperative light enteral nutrition, early ambulation and perioperative nursing care.Patients with gastric cancer were randomly assigned into fast track group or a simple control group.New perioperative schedule was executed in the patients of fast track group and traditional nutrition support in control group. After operation, serum albumen was measured to evaluate the patient's nutritional state and serum IgA to evaluate gastrointestinal immune function. In addition, the time to passage of flatus, postoperative recovery time and complication rate after operation were compared. Results Patiens in FTS group (n=35) showed higher serum albumin and serum IgA on d1 and d3 after operation than those in the control group (n=25) (P

One hundred and twenty stroke patients were randomly divided into rehabilitation group (n =60) and control group (n =60).Patients were assessed with National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) ,Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA),Bathel Index (BI) and World Health Organization Quality of Life Assessment Instrument Brief Version(WHOQOL-BREF) before and 6 weeks after treatment by the same doctor. The scores of NIHSS,FMA,BI and WHOQOL-BREF were improved significantly in rehabilitation group after treatment; while those of control group were no improved. The scores after treatment of rehabilitation group were significantly higher than those of control group ( P < 0.05 ).

Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 1994;0(12):-
Object To optimize the best extraction of the total saponins in the root of Ophiopogon japonicus (Thunb.) Ker-Gawl. (RO). Methods The extract condition of total saponins in RO was observed by orthogonal design with ophiopogonis D as index. Results The optimum extract condition of RO was established. The more effective way was to smash RO to 5-10 mesh and extract total saponins in RO with ten times amount of 80% alcohol thrice by refluxing, one hour each time. Conclusion The total saponins in RO could be fully extracted in this condition.

AIM: To explore the effect of drug content and encapsulated efficency of microsphere ophiopogon saponin preparation, providing more precise computational method. METHODS: Ophiopogon saponin enteric microsphere was prepared by spray drying technique, and the sum of saponin was determined by colorimetric analysis to evaluate the drug content and encapsulated efficency. RESULTS: The encapsulated efficency (%) was 94.75? 2.68. The drug content (mg/g) was 54.81? 2.12. CONCLUSION: The drug content the encapsulated efficency can affect the clinical dosage and the encapsulated efficency stands for the preparation process and the quality. So we should detect both drug content and the encapsulated efficency to evaluate preparation quality evaluation.
