Objective To investigate the intelligence development status of the low birth weight infants and its influence factors. Methods The intelligence developments of 135 low birth weight infants aged 6-30 months were investigated using Bayley Scales of Infant Development, and the self-development influential factors were analyzed with questionnaire.Results The average of MDI was 86.76±18.95 in 135 infants,of which the detection rate of MDI<80 points accounted for 17.8%and the detection rate of PDI<80 points accounted for 29.6%;birth weight of infant,age,the degree of parents,culture and feeding way had significant effects on MDI in infants;age and birth weight had significant effects on PDI in infants. Conclusion The development level of infants is influenced by multi-factors. More attention should be paid to reduce premature and low birth weight infants,improve the degree of parents' culture, advocate breastfeeding and conduct early intervention in order to assure the intelligence development of infants.

Objective To study histone acetylation patterns in peripheral boiood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from type 2 diabetic patients PBMC form 12type 2 diabetic patients and 12 healthy contrcl subiects were collecyed The global histone H3/H4 acetylation was determined by assay kit The differetial expression of the histone acetyltransferases and histone deacetylases were measured by real time PCR.Results increased H3/H4 acetylation was observed in PBMC of type 2 diabetic patients compared with control subjects (H3:0.134±0.035vs0.181±0.032,p<0.05;H4:0.266±0.070VS0.324±0.062,P<0.01).the mRNA levels of p300,CREBBP,HDAC2,HDAC7,and STRTL in patients PBMC compared with healthy control subieects were 3.11±0.38,2.78±0.45,3.55±0.30,0.77±0.37 and 0.40±0.25 folds respectively conclusion histone acetylation appears abnormal in PBMC of type 2 diabetic patients.

Objective To provide a practical device and protocol to hold conscious rats for subsequent operations which can overcome the disadvantages of existing methods .Users can complete the experiment more efficiently , with or without prior experience .Methods Using transparent plastic film , plastic sealing machine and sponge to make a simple device for holding rats , by taking advantage of their escaping nature .To compare the performance of the new method and existing methods for holding and injecting rats .Results Compared with existing methods , the new device and method can reduce the time-consuming to hold rats by 44.7%, from 18.13 seconds to 10.03 seconds.For holding and injecting , the new method can reduce the time-consuming by 55.3%, from 139.33 seconds to 52.26 seconds .Conclusions The new device and method is good for holding and injecting rats or drawing blood from the caudal veins .It can shorten the time of operation and reduce the stress reaction in the animals .It’ s especially helpful for inexperienced experimenters such as students in teaching and research tasks .

Objective To investigate the effect of trichostatin A (TSA) and 5-azacitidine (5-AzaC) on pancreatic β-cells impaired by cytokine,via measuring the proliferation,apoptosis,and function of pancreatic β-cells.Methods RIN-m5f was impaired by interleukin-1β and interferon-γin vitro,and treated with TSA and 5-AzaC.Experiment groups included blank control group,cytokine induction group,0.05/0.10 μmoL/L TSA group,0.63/1.25 μmoL/L 5-AzaC group,and0.10 μmol/L TSA plus 1.25 μmol/L 5-AzaC group.The viability of RIN-m5f cells was detected by MTT assay.Apoptotic rate was determined by Annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) /propidium iodide flow cytometry.Insulin secretion was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results The viability of RIN-m5f cells in 0.05/0.10 μmoL/L TSA group,0.63/1.25 μmol/L 5-AzaC group,and 5-AzaC plus TSA group was 70.1％/79.2 ％,67.3 ％/82.9 ％,and 89.1％ respectively,being higher than that in the cytokine group (33.9％,P＜0.05) ; the apoptosis rate was 10.3％/10.5％,7.9％/9.6％,and 8.2％,being lower than that in the cytokine group (16.6％,P＜0.05) ; the capacity of glucose-stimulated insulin secretion of all the treated groups was higher than that in the cytokine group (P＜0.05).Conclusion TSA and 5-AzaC might promote the proliferation of pancreatic β-cells impaired by cytokines,inhibit its apoptosis and recover its insulin secretion.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the changes in electromyographic activities of the temporal and masseter muscles at different positions of the mandible.

METHODSTwenty orthodontic patients with Angle Class II malocclusion and mandibular retrusion (ANB<6°) aged 10-14 years were enrolled in this study. All the patients were treated with Forsus fixed functional appliance combined with MBT straight-wire appliance. The electromyographic activities of the temporal (T) and masseter (M) muscles before, during and after functional treatment were evaluated by assessing the average integrated electromyogram (EMG) and T/M ratio at clenching status in different mandibular positions.

RESULTSAfter functional forward positioning of the mandible, the electromyographic activities of the temporal and masseter muscles decreased and T/M ratio increased significance at the clenching status (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe appliance insertion and activation is associated with a decreased EMG activity of the temporal and masseter muscles, and the T/M ratio is correlated to the position of the mandible.

Objective To explore the effects of different immobilization modes on the setup errors for lower limb radiation therapy guided by ExacTrac image guidance system.Methods Totally 145 patients who completed radiation therapy for lower limb tumors at some hospital from October 2019 to November 2022 were selected retrospectively,and then divided into a vacuum negative pressure pad group(Group A,n=46),a thermoplastic membrane group(Group B,n=50)and a thong shoe group(Group C,n=49)based on their immobilization methods.For the three groups of patients the target areas were outlined and the radiotherapy plans were formulated according to unified standards.ExacTrac image guidance system was used for position verification and setup error recording at six directions of anterior-posterior(AP),head-foot(SI),left-right(LR),rotation around AP(Yaw),rotation around SI(Roll)and rotation around LR(Pitch).Results The differences between the 3 groups in LR,AP and Roll directions were all statistically significant(P＜0.05);the setup errors in LR,AP and Roll directions were significantly lower in group B than in the other 2 groups(P＜0.05),and the setup errors in LR and AP directions were significantly lower in group C than in group A(P＜0.05).The setup errors with the three immobilization modes all met clinical requirements after correction.Conclusion Thermoplastic membrane immobilization may enhance the accuracy of body fixation and decrease setup errors during lower limb radiotherapy,and it's recommended be prioritized for body immobilization.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2024,45(3):61-65]

AIMTo study the structure and crystal forms of chlorobenzylidine.

METHODSKarl Fischer titrimetry, FTIR, thermal analysis, single and powder X-ray diffraction were used for the studies of the structure of chlorobenzylidine and for the identification of two forms of chlorobenzylidine.

RESULTSChlorobenzylidine and its diastereoisomer have been studied in this article. They can be distinguished by their different melting points. Two crystal forms of chlorobenzylidine (form A and form B) have also been detected and studied. Form A was studied by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, it crystallized in the triclinic system, space group P1(-), with two formula units per cell, is monohydrate. Karl Fischer titrimetry, FTIR, thermal analysis and powder X-ray diffraction were used for identification of the two forms.

CONCLUSIONThe studies of structure and crystal forms of chlorobenzylidine are very useful for the clinical research and the selection of recrystallization process.

AIMTo explore possible signal transmission way through which ginsenoside Rg1 protect cells from MPP(+)-induced apoptosis.

METHODSThe apoptosis of SHSY5Y induced by 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+) was observed by AO-EB staining. Flow cytometry was used to quantitate the reactive oxygen species (ROS). Western Blotting was used to detect the c-jun NH2-terminal kinase (JNK) activity in SHSY5Y cells. Immunocytochemistry staining was used to detect cleaved Caspase-3 positive cells.

RESULTSMPP+ was shown to induce apoptosis in SHSY5Y cells. The percentage of apoptotic SHSY5Y cells induced by MPP+ was obviously lower in those groups pretreated with 10 mumol.L-1 Rg1 or 2.5 mmol.L-1 N-acetylcysyteine (NAC). It showed more ROS in MPP+ groups than in control. JNK activity increased with time within 72 hours in 1 mmol.L-1 MPP+ group. Simultaneously, it showed decrease of ROS, less activity of JNK and lower expression of cleaved Caspase-3 in 10 mumol.L-1 Rg1 and 2.5 mmol.L-1 NAC pretreated groups compared with groups treated with MPP+ only.

CONCLUSIONRg1 protects against MPP(+)-induced apoptosis in SHSY5Y cells and the effect might be attributed to its removal of ROS, inhibition of the activity of JNK and expression of cleaved Caspase-3.

BACKGROUNDMutations in mitotic checkpoint genes have been detected in several human cancers, which exhibit chromosome instability. We wanted to know whether mutation of hBub1 could occur in transformed human embryo lung fibroblasts (HELF) cells induced by a chemical carcinogen.

METHODSHELF cells were transformed by N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguaridine (MNNG), and three flasks of transformed HELF cells (named as T1, T2, and T3) were selected as amplifiers, and mutations of hBub1 in these transformed cells were analyzed by PCR-SSCP and sequencing.

RESULTSIt was found that any one of three transformed cell lines exhibited aneuploidy with a low mitotic checkpoint function. Subsequent PCR-SSCP and sequence analysis showed an AGT to CGT or ATT mutation at codon 80 in hBub1 gene in T1 cells with a resultant change in amino acid sequence.

CONCLUSIONOur study demonstrated that the mitotic checkpoint genes could be targets of MNNG.

Objective To study the mlationship between dietary soy isoflavones and blood lipids among residents of 40-65 years old,in Guangzhou.Methods Dietary soy isoflavones and other nutrients intakes were assessed with quantitative food frequency questionnaire(FFQ).Total cholesterol(TC),triglycerides(TG),HDL cholesterol(HDL-C)and LDL cholesterol(LDL-C)in plasma were measured with colorimetry.Results Ranges of dietary soy isoflavones intake among 134 males and 261 females were fxom 0 mg/day to 61.96 mg/day and 0 mg/day to 82.52 mg/day,with means of 11.95 mg/day,14.90 mg/day,respectively.After adjusted for total energy intake and fat percent energy,difiefences of TC,LDL-C in total population and TC in women were statistically significant between groups(P value was 0.002,0.008,0.004,respectively) and dose-effect relationships(P value was <0.001.0.012.0.001,respectively)were observed between dietary soy isoflavones intake and the upper mentioned three indices.Compared with the low-intake group,tbese three indices lowered 7.06%,10.13%and 7.48%,respectively in high-intake group.Critical significance of LDL-C was observed both in women and men between groups.Further controlled for age,BMI and WHR,no obvious change of the results was observed.Conclusion Moderate intakes of soy isoflavone as part of a regular diet seemed to be associated with favorable blood lipid levels.
