Objective To study the current cases of Keshan disease aims at providing scientific and basic evidence for prevention and control of the disease. Methods In accordance with historical cases, in 2009, an investigation was conducted in the permanent resident population in seriously infected representative villages of landscapes and ways of living such as Xujialeng, Zhuping and some other adjacent villages in Wudu district, Longnan city. People in those areas were examined and carefully observed based on the scheme of Keshan disease surveillance. Then they were enquired about their medical history, given normal clinical examinations and electrocardiogram(ECG) examination, the suspected cases were chest X-rayed. At the same time, some samples of their hair of some children under 12 and adults were collected to be examined for the selenium content. Results Among the total number of 515 subjects, 20 were diagnosed with Keshan disease with a total detection rate of 3.9% (20/515), among whom 13 were potential patients with a detection rate of 2.5%( 13/515), 7 were chronic patients with a detection rate of 1.4%(7/515). In the total number of 515 ECG, 48 were found with abnormal ECG at a detection of 9.3%(48/515). In the 20 patients, the potential patients were mostly featured with incomplete right bundle-branch block(5 cases), complete right bundle-branch block(3 cases), frequent ventricular premature beat (2 cases) and left ventricle high voltage(2 cases), while the chronic patients were mostly featured with incomplete right bundle-branch block(2 cases). Of the 29 chest X-ray films, 17 cases had heart enlargement with a detection rate of 58.6%( 17/29). The selenium content in the hair of 10 adults and 10 children were (0.38±0.09), (0.31±0.12) mg/kg, respectively. Conclusion There are still existing some cases and obvious virulence factors of Keshan disease in Wudu district, Longnan city.

Objective To compare the efficacy of uniportal VATS and single utility port VATS in treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax.Method From January 2013 to December 2015, we retrospectively collected clinical data of 53 patients with spontaneous pneumothorax who were treated with uniportal VATS, as study group; compared with control group: 53 patients received single utility port VATS in the same period. The clinical data was compared between the two groups, including the operation time, intraoperative blood loss, drainage time, postoperative extubation time, postoperative pain score, postoperative hospitalization and recurrence. Results All patients were successfully completed the operation, no death and serious complications occurred. There were no significant differences in intraoperative blood lose, duration of chest drainage, duration of hospital stay and incidence of serious postoperative complications between two groups (P > 0.05). Mean Visual Analogic Scale (VAS) score for 24 h post-operative pain was: (2.60 ± 0.71) for uniportal VATS and (3.38 ± 0.84) for single utility port VATS (P > 0.05), 72 h post-operative pain was: (1.30 ± 0.51) for uniportal VATS and (1.58 ± 0.62) for single utility port VATS (P > 0.05). Follow up 5 ~ 36 months, median follow up was 19 months. No recurrence occurred during follow up.Conclusions The study suggested that both surgical approaches to spontaneous pneumothorax are safe and effective. Significant differences were found for early post-operative pain between the two approaches, the uniportal way is better. It is worthy of clinical promoting.

Electroencephalogram (EEG) is the primary tool in investigation of the brain science. It is necessary to carry out a deepgoing study into the characteristics and information hidden in EEGs to meet the needs of the clinical research. In this paper, we present a wavelet-nonlinear dynamic methodology for analysis of nonlinear characteristic of EEGs and delta, theta, alpha, and beta sub-bands. We therefore studied the effectiveness of correlation dimension (CD), largest Lyapunov exponen, and approximate entropy (ApEn) in differentiation between the interictal EEG and ictal EEG based on statistical significance of the differences. The results showed that the nonlinear dynamic char acteristic of EEG and EEG subbands could be used as effective identification statistics in detecting seizures.

Objective To investigate the effect of chronic stress on the expression of uncoupling protein 4 (UCP4) and Bcl-2 protein in hippocampal neurons of rat depression model. Methods Rat depression models were established by chronic unpredicted mild stress. All rats were randomly assigned to 2 groups:control group and model group.Flow cytometry was applied to detect the apoptosis rate and mitochondrial membrane potential. The level of LDH was measured by enzymes labelling instrument. The number of neurons was measured by immunohistochemistry. The expression of UCP4 and Bcl-2 protein was measured by Western blotting. Results After chronic stress, the apoptosis rate((4.35±0.19) %)and LDH activity ((445.50±91.70) U/mg) in hippocampal tissue in the model group was significantly higher than the control group((0.34±0.06) %,(167.20±63.40)U/mg).Compared to control group, the number of hippocampal neurons ((72.50±4.25) vs (45.30±2.54)) and the mitochon drial membrane potential decreased in the model group. The expressions of UCP4 and Bcl-2 protein in hippocampal tissue were significantly lower than the control group. Conclusion Chronic unpredicted mild stress can lead to apoptosis in rat hippocampal neurons, which is related with decline of mitochondrial membrane potential and low expression of UCP4 and Bcl-2 protein.

Objective:To'synthesize BODIPY-FL-labeled phenylephrine(BODIPY-FL-PE)and deter-mine its biological activity. Methods:Condensation of BODIPY-FL(green fluorescence dye)and phe-nylephrine(?_1-adrenoceptor agonist)was performed by adding dicyclohexylcarbodiimide(DCC)in thepresence of absolute tetrahydrofuran(THF).The reaction occurred in absolutely oxygen and water condi-tion at room temperature. The crude product was separated and purified by thin-layer chromatography(TLC).The structure of BODIPY-FL-PE was characterized by TLC and mass spectrometry(MS).Itspharmabiological activity was determined by Western blot.Results:BODIPY-FL-PE,the target mole-cule,was synthesized and its structure was identified by using ultra-violet spectrometry(UV)and MS.The result of Western blot indicated that ?_1-adrenoceptor(?_1-AR)induced ERK phosphorylation wasconfirmed in both BODIPY-FL-PE and PE treated groups. Conclusion:The synthesized BODIPY-FL-PEhas pharmacological activity that could activate ?_1-AR.Visualization of AR behaviors could be achievedby tracing the trajectories of BODIPY-FL-PE labeled AR.It might be a promising tool for investigatingdynamic behaviors of AR in living cells.
