The experiment was conducted at the Basic Laboratory of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Chengdu University of TCM from March 2005 to March 2006. A total of 40 BALB/C male mice aged 6-8 weeks were selected, and randomly assigned into 4 groups: bcl-2 control group, bcl-2 experimental group, cmy-c control group and cmy-c experimental group with 10 in each group. From the first day of experiment, all the mice were treated with 5 g/L cyclophosphamide solution by intraperitoneal injection for successively 5 days, 6 mL/kg per day. From days 11 to 12, the mice in the bcl-2 experimental group and cmy-c experimental group received Danggui buxue tang by gastric perfusion, 6 mL/kg per day for 10 days. The mice in the control group received saline of the same volume. At day 20, all the mice were killed to obtain bone marrow cells of one side femoral bone of mice. The smear received bcl-2 in situ hybridization immunohistochemical staining after centrifugalization and washing in the bcl-2 control and bcl-2 experimental group. The smear received cmy-c in situ hybridization immunohistochemical staining after centrifugalization and washing in the cmy-c control and cmy-c experimental group. Five fields of each section were red into image analyzer. The sum of positive cell area and the sum of integral absorbance in each field were analyzed. The results showed that the sum of positive cell area was (16.11?3.01)?102 ?m2, and the sum of integral absorbance was (19.9?2.42)?105 in the bcl-2 experimental group. Compared with the bcl-2 control group, there was significant difference (P

Recurrence and metastasis is the main cause of death in breast cancer patients. Early detection and treatment of malignant breast cancer cells and metastasis are the hotspots of current resear-ches. The discovery of circulating tumor cells(CTC)may provide new ideas for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Detection of CTC will help the early detection of micrometastasis, the guidance of individ-ual treatment, and the evaluation of therapeutic effect and prognosis. Domestic and foreign research pro-gress of CTC was reviewed in this paper.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2006;4(3):186-188
Objective: To compare the therapeutic effects between the needling method by identification of deficient and excessive patterns and the needling method by routine meridian differentiation in the treatment of soft tissue injuries. Methods: 380 cases of the patients with soft tissue injuries were randomly divided into pattern identification group (200 cases, with the needling method by identification of deficient and excessive patterns) and meridian identification group (180cases, with the needling method by routine meridian differentiation), to observe and compare the therapeutic effects in the two groups. Results: The curative effect was 86% in the pattern identification group and 31.11% in the meridian identification group, with a significant difference (P< 0.01). In comparison with the total average treatment times in the cured and improved cases, the pattern identification group was 8.8 days and the meridian identification group was 15.6 days, with a remarkable significant difference (P< 0.01). The pattern identification group was better than the meridian identification group. Conclusion: In the treatment of soft tissue injuries, the needling method by identification of deficient and excessive patterns was better than the needling method by routine meridian differentiation.

Objective :To study the effect and mechanism of retinoic acid(RA) on thymocytes development. Methods:Thymus tissue culture system was used to investigate the roles of RA in maturation development of thymocytes. Thymus tissues were cultured with or without retinoic acid and/or retinoic acid receptor antagonist. The cultures were harvested after 24, 48 and 72 hours, respectively. Thymocytes were stained with fluorescence labeled anti-CD3, anti-CD4, anti-CD8 antibodies and analyzed by flow cytometry. The real time quantitative RT-PCR assay was used to detect the retinoic acid receptor (RAR) mRNA expression in thymocytes. Results:The thymus tissue culture system was able to support the maturation of thymocytes. Addition of RA to the culture system promoted thymocytes differentiation from immature CD4+CD8+ cells to mature CD4+ cells, but inhibited the transformation from immature CD4+CD8+ cells to mature CD8+ cells. The effect was marked after 24h culture, and was antagonized by Ro41-5253. RA enhanced the expression of RAR mRNA in thymocytes. A positive correlation was found between the expression of RAR mRNA and the percentage of CD4+CD8+ cells and a negative correlation between the expression of RAR mRNA and the percentage of CD8+ cells. Conclusion:RA likely play an important role in thymocytes development, perhaps by affecting the relative expression of RAR gene.

Objective: To observe the effect of cooling on systemic and regional oxygen metabolism in febrile critically ill patients. Method: Twenty-five critically ill patients with fever were cooled by ice blankets or by ibuprofen/indomethacin. Oxygen metabolism in whole body and regional organ and hemodynamics were measured. Result: As the temperature was reduced form 38.9?1.1℃ to 37.8?1.5℃,HR,cardiac index (CI),oxygen delivery (DO_2I),and oxygen consumption (VO_2I) decreased significantly, but gastric intramucosal pH increased from 7.26 to 7.37 and the PCO_2 difference between gastric rnucosa and arterial blood decreased markedly. PO_2 and oxygen content in cardiac coronary venous blood and oxygen exrtaction remained unchanged. Conclusion: After cooling the febrile pateints,CI, DO_2I and VO_2I decrease but tissue hypoxia can be improved.
