Objective To investigate the effects of treatment of syphilis in pregnancy on perinatal prognosis. Methods Patients of syphilis in pregnancy from Hainan Provincial People′s Hospital and Haikou Municipal Maternal and Child Health Center during 1995.1 to 2001.1 were collected for retrospective analysis. Pregnant women with syphilis were divided into treated group and untreated group according to whether they received penicillin anti syphilis treatment or not during pregnancy. Results The total number of deliveries in the 2 hospitals during that period was 18 701, and 61 out of 9 805 women screened for syphilis were positive, giving an incidence of 6 2/1000. The perinatal mortality rates were 11 2% in treated group and 83 3% in untreated group, and incidences of congenital syphilis were 17 6% and 72 7% respectively. Conclusion Syphilis in pregnancy is a serious complication to harm the fetus. Screening of syphilis during pregnancy is necessary, and penicillin treatment is effective which may reduce the perinatal mortality rate and the birth of congenital syphilis baby.

Objective To explore the effect of action research based on group learning in hospice care module for nursing students. Methods 82 students were divided into cooperative learning group (40) and conventional teaching group (42). The cognition and attitude of good death questionnaire was used to evaluate teaching effect before and after teaching of hospice care. After teaching, self-feedback and self-feedback questionnaire were made to evaluate the effect of cooperative learning group. SPSS 17 was used to make comparison of data between groups and within groups, and t test, chi square test or Fisher exact probability 2 were also used . Results There were no difference between two groups of nurses before teaching. The students' cognitive level and attitude in cooperative learning group increased significantly, especially their cognitive level of physiological needs (t=5.398, P=0.001), cognition and attitude of death education in intervention group was higher than control group (t=2.992, P=0.004; t=3.661, P=0.001). Although 95% of the nursing students of the cooperative learning group thought group cooperative studying could improve their interests and cultivated their comprehensive abilities, only 50% could accept this kind of studying methods . Conclusions Action research based on group cooperative studying can improve students' cognitive level and attitude of good death, and it is also good for cultivating their ability of au-tonomous learning, innovation, cooperation, and meanwhile, educational action research is a good way to improve both teaching effect and research ability of teacher staffs, but in practice, students' acceptance of group learning needs to be improved.

This study aims to compare the urate-lowering response rate of febuxostat and allopurinol in gout patient using a model-based meta-analysis. The literature search identified 22 clinical trials of gout with a total of 43 unique treatment arms that met our inclusion criteria, and a total of 6 365 gout patients were included in the study. The response rates of allopuriol and febuxostat were characterized by Tmax model and Emax model respectively, and the effect of baseline serum uric acid (sUA) and patient type on the drug effect was tested. The results showed that allopurinol can reach an average maximum response rate of 50.8% while febuxostat can reach a 100% response rate within a very short time, and the ED50 was 34.3 mg. Covariate analysis revealed that baseline sUA has a negative effect on response rate of allopurinol, and a positive effect on the predicted ED50 of febuxostat. For patients who had shown inadequate response to prior allopurinol treatment, the average response rate was about half that of the allopurinol responder patients.

ABSTRACT:Objective To analyze the stress changes of tooth tissues in the medial-occlusal (Class Ⅱ)cavity restored with different kinds of inlay materials by the three-dimensional (3-D)finite element. Methods The inlay restored 3-D finite element model of medial-occlusal (Class Ⅱ)cavity was established by CBCT scanning method and reverse engineering software Mimics,Geomagic Studio,Pro/E5.0 software, and finite element analysis software. The Von-mises stress and change tendency of tooth tissues and four different kinds of inlay materials were compared after taking vertical loading and tongue 45°to loading. Results There were different stress levels of tooth tissues among different inlays of medial-occlusal (MO)Class Ⅱ cavity. The stress level of the cobalt chromium alloy inlay was the largest, the stress level of the gold alloy inlay was lower, and the stress level of the composite inlay was the lowest.Dental tissues stress distribution was similar for the four different restorative materials, and focused on hole bottom of dentin near the pulp in dentin. Conclusion Compared with ceramics, gold alloy and cobalt chromium inlay restoration, restoration with composite resin inlay can reduce the organization stress of the remaining tooth in the medial-occlusal (Class Ⅱ)cavity type.
