AlM:To observe the relationship between axial length and complications of phacoemulsification with intraocular lens ( lOL) implantation in high axial myopia eyes and normal axis eyes.
METHODS: A retrospective review of 843 consecutive patients ( 1 042 eyes ) of cataract extraction with phacoemulsification and lOL implantation in our hospital from February 2012 to February 2013 was performed. The patients were divided into two groups according to the axial length: 853 eyes were in normal axis group ( 21-24mm) and 189 eyes were in high axial myopia group (≥26mm). The two groups were compared regarding surgical complications, such as vitreous loss, posterior capsular rupture, nucleolus drop, and abnormal location of lOL.
RESULTS:Age was a risk factor in both groups. There was positive correlation between age and surgical complications, and between axial length and surgical complications, especially for complications with posterior capsular rupture and vitreous loss.
CONCLUSlON:As the results illustrate, in this survey, age and high axial lengthare statistically significant risk factors for incidence of complications of phacoemulsification. Anticipation of these complications and also preparation and prophylactic measures may decrease incidence of these complications.

Artemisia lactiflora is an important medicinal plant in China. The antitumor and antioxidant activities of the extracts of 54 endophytic fungi from the plant were screened via MTT assay and DPPH scavenging radical assay, respectively. The bioactive strains were identified based on similarity of 5.8S gene and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences. The results showed that extracts from ten (18.5%) isolates exhibited antitumor activity, and which from two (3.7%) isolates exhibited antioxidant activity. The Alternaria sp. GYBH47 strain was simultaneously having antagonistic activity against HL-60 leukemia, MCF-7 breast and COLO205 colon cell lines, and Phomopsis sp. GYBH42 strain having cytotoxic and antioxidant activities. The results indicated that endophytic fungi from Artemisia lactiflora are potential resources to find valuable bioactive components.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the bone refilling in the interface between the trabecular metal (TM) acetabular shell and the bone surface according to consecutive X film measuring after surgery.
METHODSFrom July 2006 to July 2007, 35 patients (40 hips) accepted total hip replacement using trabecular metal monoblock acetabular cup system (TM). The cup was made of a ellipse shaped press fit Tantalum shell and high cross-linked PE liner (Longevity) with 28 mm inner diameter. The patients demography was: 16 male (20 hips), 19 female (20 hips), 5 bilateral hip replacements, age from 41 - 71 (mean 53), including 18 avascular necrosis hips, 16 osteoarthritis hips (including those secondary to a dysplasia hip), 4 avascular necrosis hips after femoral neck fracture, 2 Ankylosis Spondylitis. All the 40 total hip replacements used posterior approach, using hemispherical acetabular reamer and 2 mm press fit of final metal shell without screw fixation. The consecutive X film was taken at the end time of surgery and 2, 6, 12, 24 weeks, and 12 months. The clinical results was evaluate according to Harris scoring system, and the standard pelvis AP X film was measured at the interface between metal shell and the acetabular bone surface, witch was divided into five regions (A, B, C, D, E).
RESULTSTotally 32 patients (37 hips) were followed with average 8.7 months (7 - 12 months). The Harris before surgery was 50.5 (32 - 85), promoted to 91.0 (72 - 100), including 29 excellent, 6 good, 2 fair, and the total excellent and good rate was 94.6%. Complications include 4 patients leg length discrepancy from 1 - 2 cm, 3 patients moderate thigh pain and released after conservative therapy. No infection and dislocation was found. Twenty-one patients (23 hips) were found lucent line at the bone-metal interface from 1 - 5 mm, most common in B region and BC boundary than C, D, and CD boundary. All the patients followed was found the lucent line disappeared and refilled with bone at X film 24 weeks after surgery, however, no patients was found osteolysis and cup migration.
CONCLUSIONThe trabecular metal has strong capacity of bone conductive and bone inducement.

Objective To explore the feasibility of evaluating cardiac structure, coronary artery, pulmonary artery and cardiac function in one single scan by 320-row CT ECG-gated double phase cardiac function scan mode. MethodsForty patients underwent the 320-detector row CT double phase cardiovascular angiography. The pulmonary phase and aortic phase were reconstructed in order to evaluate the pulmonary and coronary artery. MPR reconstructions of both pulmonary and aortic phase were used to analyze the function of the two ventricles. And the results of the cardiac function were compared with those of transthoracic echocardiography. Thirty-five cases could be analyzed and diagnosed, while the other 5 cases had to be given up because of the poor imaging quality. The mean heart rate was (71.2 ± 11.2) beat per min (bpm). No arrhythmia case included. Results ( 1 ) Pulmonary embolism were diagnosed in 11 cases, coronary artery disease (CAD) were found in 5 cases, while post-stent implantation were observed in 7 cases. Six cases of congenital heart disease were diagnosed with 3 ASD and 3 primary pulmonary hypertension. Another one was diagnosed with left atrial myxoma, and 5 cases were pulmonary embolism associated with CAD. All of above cases were verified by final clinical diagnosis. (2) The heart function parameters including LVEDd , RVEDd, LVESd, RVESd and LVEF were (36.7 ±3.3), (43.3 ± 3.4) mm,(31.6±5.1), (41.3 ±5.1) mm and (47.1 ±15.1) for CT, while those were (40.3 ±3.1), (47.3 ±4.2) mm,(37.3 ±5.6), (45.3 ±3.3) mm,and (46.0 ± 14.8) for ultrasound, respectively. The CT results were correlated with the ultrasound ( n = 35, r = 0.886-0.988, P < 0.01 ). (3) The average radiation exposure was ( 5.4 ± 0.5 ) mSv. Conclusions 320-row CT ECG-gated double phase cardiac function scan mode is feasible for the "one-stop-shop" examination of the cardiovascular disease. This noninvasive method is recommended for the diagnosis, differential diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of cardiovascular disease.

Objective To study the effects of different levels of iodine concentration on insulin-like growth factors Ⅰ (IGF-1) mRNA expression of thyroid and breast in lactating rats. Methods Thirty Wistar female rats, having been weaned for 1 month, were randomly divided into three groups according to their body weights, i. e. :low iodine(LI) group, adequate iodine(AI) group, high iodine(HI) group, 10 rats in each group. Synthetic fodder and deionized water containing iodine of 0,150,3000 μg/L was respectively fed to these rats. After fed for 3 months, the rats mated and had offspring. Their mammary glands, thyroids and serum were sampled at lactation day 5. The serum iodine of lactating rats were determined by moderate acid digestion method, level of T3 and T4 were determined by radioimmunoassay method, and the expressions of IGF-1 mRNA of mammary glands and thyroids were determined by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR assay. Results The value of serum iodine of LI group [(17.38±3.27) μg/L] was lower than that of AI group [(43.42±6.92) μg/L, P<0.05], and the value of serum iodine of HI group[(350.10±38.46)μg/L] was higher than that of AI group (P<0.05). The level of T3 of LI group and HI group[ (1.11±0.25), (1.61±0.33)μg/L] reduced obviously compared with that of AI group[(2.18±0.46) μg/L, P<0.05]. The mean of T4 of LI group and HI group[(33.40±11.11),(56.54±10.38)μg/L] had no statistical significance compared with AI group(44.02±12.51)μg/L, P>0.05), but the level of T4 of LI group was lower than that of HI group(P<0.05). The level of IGF-1 mRNA expression of thyroid in LI group and HI group (0.34±0.08, 0.23±0.08) was higher than that of AI group(0.15±0.03, P<0.05). The level of IGF-1 mRNA expression of lactating mammary in LI group(0.59±0.18) was higher than that of AI group(0.40±0.10, P<0.05). The level of IGF-1 mRNA expression of thyroid was lower than that of breast between the same group(t=3.54, 6.44,2.62, all P<0.05). Conclusion Iodine could affect IGF-1 mRNA expression of thyroid and lactating mammary, and IGF-1 mRNA expression of lactating mammary was stronger than that of the thyroid.
