Objective To study the CT perfusion features of various lymph nodes in the neck. Methods Dynamic perfusion CT scanning was performed in 83 neck lymph nodes proved by pathology, including tuberculosis lymph nodes, lymphoma and metastatic lymph nodes. The shapes, blood flow modes, and perfusion parameters of these lymph nodes were compared among 3 groups. Statistical analysis of L/T and CT perfusion parameters was performed by one-way ANOVA and LSD test. Results The values of MTT of tuberculosis lymph nodes, lymphoma and metastatic lymph nodes were (28. 13 ±5.08), (31.08 ±5.82),and ( 11.24 ±5.31 ) s,respectively. The MTT of metastatic lymph nodes was statistically lower than that of tuberculosis lymph nodes and lymphoma (P < 0. 05). Their frequencies of marginal blood flow were 5/9,4/19, and 39/55 (70. 9% ), respectively. The frequency of marginal blood flow in the tuberculosis lymph nodes and metastatic lymph nodes was statistically higher than that of lymphoma ( P < 0. 05 ). Their frequencies of central blood flow were 2/9, 11/19, and 9/55 (16.4%), respectively. The frequency of central blood flow in the lymphoma was statistically higher than that of tuberculosis lymph nodes and metastatic lymph nodes ( P < 0. 05 ). Their values of L/T were 1.82 ± 0. 32, 1. 80 ± 0. 39, and 1.84 ± 0. 36,(40. 98 ±6. 62) s,respectively. There were no significant differences in L/T, BF, BV and TTP among tuberculosis lymph nodes, lymphoma and metastatic lymph nodes( P > 0. 05 ). Conclusion CT perfusion, especially combination functional imaging with perfusion images may be helpful in judging the nature of neck lymph nodes.

BACKGROUND: Harmful stimuli induce increased production of calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP) in the spinal cord and dorsal root ganglion, causing also intense dilation of the microvessels. But it remains unknown whether vessel dilation and pain relief were accompanied by increased CGRP production when negative pressure is applied on the limbs for treatment of peripheral arterial occlusion diseases (PAOD).OBJECTIVE: To examine the changes of calcitonin gene-related peptide (GGRP) -immunoractive nerve fibers in the spinal cord and dorsal root ganglion in dogs with PAOD treated with negative pressure on the limbs.DESIGN: A randomized controlled retrospective study.SETTING: The department of general surgery of a military medical university.MATERIALS: This study was carried out at Xijing Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA between January and August 2003. Seventeen adult male dogs weighing 12 - 18 kg, regardless of the gender, were selected.INTERVENTIONS: Seventeen dogs were randomly divided into three groups, namely the treatment group( n = 10), model group( n = 5), and the normal control group( n = 2). Posterior left leg ischemia was induced in dogs in the treatment and model groups, and those in the treatment group, but not the model group, were treated with negative limb pressure for 10 days 14days after model establishment. The spinal cord and dorsal ganglion at L1-5of these two groups were collected and stained immunohistochemically for observing the changes of GGRP-immunreactive nerve fibers. The dogs in the normal control group were also sampled in similar manner for immunohistochemical staining.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Distribution of CGRP-immunoreactive nerve fibers in the spinal cord and dorsal ganglions of the three groups of dogs.RESULTS: In the dogs of the model group, GGRP-immunoreactive nerve fibers in the spinal cord and dorsal ganglions was significantly more numerous[ (75. 00 ±4. 30)%, (68.20 ± 2.60)% ] than those in the treatment and normal control groups[ (58. 20 ±5. 10)%, (52. 20 ±6.20)%; (37.00±4. 20)%, (34. 00 ± 1.40)%, P < 0.01]. The positive nerve fibers were less strongly stained in the treatment group than those in the model group, but still stronger stained those in the normal control group, with significant difference between the three groups( P < 0.01).CONCLUSION: Negative pressure on the limbs may attenuate the synthesis of CGRP-immunoreactive nerve fibers in the spinal cord and dorsal root ganglion and pain conduction following PAOD in dogs, so that harmful afferent stimuli are inhibited to relieve the pain in the limbs.

AlM:To investigate the effect of cyclosporine A ( CsA) on the phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase ( Pl-3k ) pathway during procession of proliferation in epithelial cells of rabbit lens, and provide treatment strategies for after cataract on the basis of experiment.
METHODS: Sixty eyes of 30 healthy white rabbits were operated by lens cortex removal in cataract surgery, and 30 right eyes were divided in treatment group and the other 30 eyes were divided in control group. From the first postoperative day, the control group eyes were dropped with normal saline 6 times each day, and the treatment group eyes were dropped with 1% CsA 6 times each day. Six rabbits were selected randomly and killed on the day before dropping and 1, 2wk, 1 and 2mo of postoperative day respectively. The lens of those killed rabbits were removed by surgery. The strategies of immunohistochemistry and mount in situ hybridization were used to detect the content of proliferating cell nuclear antigen ( PCNA) , gene of phosphate and tension homology deleted on chromsome ten ( PTEN) mRNA, Ser473-R, respectively.
RESULTS:The expression of PCNA and Ser473-R were both down-regulate after operation in treatment group and control group, and the PCNA levels were significantly lower among treatment group than those in control group on 1wk (0.690±0.035 vs 0.785±0.015, t=6.099, P<0.01) and 2wk (0. 571±0. 038 vs 0. 670±0. 037, t=4. 585, P<0. 01). ln addition, the levels of Ser473 - R were significantly lower among treatment group than those in control group on 1wk (0.374±0.031 vs 0.435±0.030, t=3.486, P=0.006) and 2wk (0. 220±0. 022 vs 0. 251±0. 020, t=2. 516, P=0. 031). However, the expression levels of PTEN mRNA were continually increased 1wk~1mo after operation, in which the expression levels of PTEN mRNA were significantly higher among treatment group than those in control group on 1wk (0. 302±0. 027 vs 0. 255±0. 038, t=2. 474, P=0. 033).
CONCLUSlON:1% CsA could inhibit the proliferation of epithelial cells in lens of rabbits with after cataract through preventing Pl-3k pathway.

OBJECTIVETo study effects of the cycle of light and exogenous plant growth regulators on growth of normal root and hairy root of Lycium barbarum and establish a long-term system of in vitro culture of L. barbarum roots.
METHODUsing normal roots from aseptic seedlings and hairy roots originated from Agrobacterium rhizogenes A4-mediated genetic transformation of L. barbarum, the growth of root segments was examined after 20 days of culture under different culture conditions.
RESULT AND CONCLUSIONWhen cultured on the MS medium with different plant growth regulators (IAA, IBA, NAA), normal root segments of L. barbarum could elongate and branch, and the addition of 1 mg x L(-1) IBA into the medium was the most suitable for long-term in vitro culture of L. barbarum root. When cultured on MS medium without hormone, light promoted the elongation and lateral root formation of type II hairy root, but not of type I hairy root. Among three tested hormones, IAA at low concentration was the best for growth of type I hairy root, while 1 mg x L(-1) IBA was the most suitable for growth of type II hairy root. With the increase of hormone level added into MS medium, callusing frequencies of type I, II hairy roots were increased, at the same time, the formation of lateral root from hairy root or callus was inhibited.

The continuous cultivation of Rehmannia glutinosa causes the accumulation of phenolic acids in soil. It is supposed to be the reason of the so called "continuously cropping obstacle". In this study, phenolic acids (hydroxybenzoic acid, vanillic acid, eugenol, vanillin and ferulic acid) were degraded by the extracta of all the tested spent mushroom substrate (SMS) and the maximal degradation rate was 75.3%, contributed by extraction of SMS of Pleurotus eryngii. Pot experiment indicated that hydroxybenzoic acid and vanillin in soil were also degraded effectively by SMS of P. eryngii. The employment of SMS enhanced ecophysiology index to near the normal levels, such as crown width, leaves number, leaf length, leaf width and height. At the same time, the fresh and dry weight and total catalpol concentration of tuberous root weight of R. glutinosa was increased to 2.70, 3.66, 2.25 times by employment of SMS, respectively. The increase of bacteria, fungi and actinomycetes numbers in rhizosphere soil were observed after the employment of SMS by microbial counts. The employment of SMS also enhanced the enzyme activity in soils, such as sucrase, cellulase, phosphalase, urease and catelase. These results indicated that the employment of SMS alleviated the continuously cropping obstacle of R. glutinosa in some extent.

AIMTo study the effects of the 50 Hz-filter circuit in a microelectrode amplifier on cardiac action potential waveform and parameters.
METHODSCardiac action potential signals were fed into a microcomputer through a glass microelectrode, a microelectrode amplifier, a differentiator and A/D converter. The cardiac action potential signals were recorded and analyzed with 50 Hz-filter circuit and without it, and the frequency spectrum in the signals was analyzed with the fast Fourier transformation.
RESULTSWhen the 50 Hz-filter circuit was used, the phase 0 of the potential waveform was seriously distorted and prolonged. The maximal rate of depolarization at the phase 0 was cut down, while the other parameters were not effected.
CONCLUSIONThere has already been much 50 Hz element in the action potential waveform. During amplifying the cardiac action potential signal, the 50 Hz-filter circuit should not be turned on. Otherwise, the experiment results will be effected.

OBJECTIVETo explore safe, effective, simple and easy non-drug treatments for grade 1 essential hypertension.
METHODSAccording to TCM syndrome differentiation, 126 cases of grade 1 essential hypertension were classified into 4 types: liver-fire hyperactivity syndrome, yin-deficiency and yang-hyperactivity syndrome, excessive phlegm-dampness syndrome, yin-yang deficiency syndrome, and then the patients were randomly divided into a photoelectric combined with musical treatment group (group A), an acupuncture group(group B) and a placebo group (group C). The acupoints were selected according to TCM syndrome differentiation in group A and group B, and multi-mode audio frequency pulse photoelectric therapeutic apparatus and acupuncture were used in the two groups respectively, once daily. Taichong (LR 3) and Quchi (LI 11) were selected in liver-fire hyperactivity syndrome, Taixi (KI 3) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) were selected yi yin-deficiency and yang-hyperactivity syndrome, Zusanli (ST 36) and Fenglong (ST 40) were selected in excessive phlegm-dampness syndrome, while Taixi (KI 3) and Guanyuan (CV 4) were selected yi yirryang deficiency syndrome. The group C was treated with oral administration of starch tablet (25 mg), one tablet each time, three times everyday. Ten days were considered as one course, totally three courses were required in the three groups. The blood pressure and scores of TCM syndromes before and after treatment were compared among the three groups.
RESULTSThe blood pressure decreased significantly after treatment in group A and group B (all P<0.01), and the decrease in systolic blood pressure was more significant in group A (P < 0.05). The total effective rate was 90.5 / (38/42) in group A, which was superior to 71. 4 (30/42, P < 0.05) in group B and 19.1% (18/34, P<0. 01) in group C. The scores of TCM syndromes were both improved in group A and group B, but without significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe clinical effect of multi-mode audio frequency pulse photoelectric therapeutic apparatus for treatment of grade 1 essential hypertension is reliable. Meanwhile, it has the advantages of a non-invasive and simple operation.
