Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2019;17(4):284-288
Objective: To review the problems existing in the development and application of current electroacupuncture (EA) apparatuses, and provide reference for the development of EA apparatuses. Methods: Related literatures about EA apparatus were derived from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Academic Journal Full-text Database (Wanfang) and Chongqing VIP Database (CQVIP) between 2013 and 2017. Literatures about the development of EA apparatuses and the application for experimental research and clinical treatment published in Chinese journals were retrieved, and the development and application of EA apparatuses were summarized. Results: Among the 107 selected literatures, 48 types of EA apparatuses were used, of which only 11 models could be found in the registration list and within the validity period. There was no registration information for the EA apparatus newly developed in the past 5 years. The EA parameters used in experimental research and clinical treatment in Chinese medicine were different, and the combination of stimulation parameters was diverse. Conclusion: At present, most of the new EA products are still in the experimental or research stage, and the transformation of results has not yet been achieved. Moreover, there is no unified standard for the use of EA apparatus and its stimulation parameters in experimental research and clinical treatment, which is not conducive to the standardization process of EA stimulation.

To explore a new way of constructing bioartificial renal tubule assist device (RAD) in vitro and its function of transporting sodium (Na(+)) and glucose and to evaluate the application of atomic force microscope in the RAD construction, rat renal tubular epithelial cell line NRK-52E was cultured in vitro, seeded onto the outer surfaces of hollow fibers in a bioreactor, and then cultured for two weeks to construct RAD. Bioreactor hollow fibers without NRK-52E cells were used as control. The morphologies of attached cells were observed with scanning electron microscope, and the junctions of cells and polysulfone membrane were observed with atomic force microscope. Transportation of Na(+) and glucose was measured. Oubaine and phlorizin were used to inhibit the transporting property. The results showed that NRK-52E cells and polysulfone membrane were closely linked, as observed under atomic force microscope. After exposure to oubaine and phlorizin, transporting rates of Na(+) and glucose were decreased significantly in the RAD group as compared with that in the control group (P<0.01). Furthermore, when the inhibitors were removed, transportation of Na(+) and glucose was restored. It is concluded that a new RAD was constructed successfully in vitro, and it is able to selectively transport Na(+) and glucose.

Objective To preliminarily discuss the efficacy and safety of balloon protection technique in venous sinus in the embolization of lateral sinus dural arteriovenous fistula. Methods FromDecember 2012 to August 2016,7 consecutive patients with lateral sinus dural arteriovenous fistula embolized with Onyx under the protection of venous sinus balloon were enrolled retrospectively. Their clinical data, imaging data, and follow-up results were analyzed. Results In 7 patients, the fistulas of 3 cases were located in the sigmoid sinus and the fistulas of 4 cases were located in the transverse sinus. Immediately after operation, 5 patients were embolized completely and 2 were embolized mostly. All balloon protected venous sinuses maintained patency. Seven patients were followed up clinically and the follow-up time was 6-43 months. No new neurological deficits were observed. All 7 patients received whole DSA reexamination and the follow-up time was 6-11 months. It is suggested that 5 patients were completely cured, among them, the venous sinuses were patent in 4 cases, the venous sinus was occluded in 1 case;the fistula was stable and venous sinus patency in 1 case;and 1 had newly complicated venous sinus occlusion. Conclusion At the same time of embolization of the fistulas, the dural arteriovenous fistulas were embolized under the protection of venous sinus balloon. It could maintain long-term patency of venous sinus and be conductive to maintaining the stability of the embolization effect.
