Clinical Medicine of China 2008;24(12):1200-1202
Objective To investigate the concentration changes and clinical significance of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) during the development of acute kidney injury (AKI). Methods The serum concentrations of HGF in 62 patients with AKI were measured every two days, and the relation between HGF and glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) ,the renal failure index, course of diseases, numbers of viscera injury, and short-term prognosis were an-alyzed. Results The serum concentrations of HGF were progressively rising along with the course of diseases and the amount of viscera injury (P=0.000), reached peak at the 9th day, and then decreased, which was was elevated in the death group than renal function failure group, but which in the latter group was elevated than in renal function recovery group (P<0.05 for each). AKI with liver injury patients were obviously higher than without liver injury pa-tients(P<0.05 for each). The serum concentrations of HGF were positively correlated with the renal failure index (r=0.580~0.821) but negatively correlated with eGFR(r=-0.943~-0.703) (P<0.05 for each). Conclu-sion The serum concentrations of HGF are abnormally rising in the patients of AKI ,which reflects the state of dis-ease and short-term prognosis of AKI.

In order to adapt to the requirements of modem medical knowledge and skills for higher medical workers, and to cultivate medical students' molecular medicine quality and comprehensive ability,Weifang Medical University broke the boundaries of disciplines and constructed experimental course group in molecular medicine based on the ideas of curriculum group construction.Molecular medical knowledge was integrated into the teaching process of experimental course group, experimental teaching content system was reasonably integrated and optimized, high quality teaching team was set up,multi-level experimental teaching platform was built and student-centered teaching mode was implemented to explore the experimental teaching approach which helped medical students to form systematic molecular medicine knowledge structure and ability structure.

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of intratympanic dexamethasone injections combined with prednisone in patients with idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss. Methods A total of 71 patients diagnosed with sudden hearing loss were treated with intratympanic dexamethasone injections plus prednisone (B group) or prednisone alone (A group). Hearing was evaluated by pure tone audiogram performed before initial treatment and at 4 weeks following the final treatment. Results The total recovery rate after the treatment was 81.8% in the B group and 55.3% in the A group. The diflference between two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion The present study suggests that sudden sensorineural hearing loss patients treated with intratympanic dexamethasone combined with prednisone have a higher likelihood of hearing recovery than those treated with prednisone alone.

OBJECTIVE To design the detection system of the leaky surface acoustic wave(LSAW) biosensor in(liquid) phase and detect human papilloma virus(HPV) target sequence with the LSAW biosensor.METHODS A detection delay line and a reference delay line were constructed, the phase of the two delay line changes was(evaluated) in liquid phase, and real time monitoring of HPV reaction was performed by using the LSAW biosensor system.RESULTS The phase of the two delay lines had different changes in liquid phase;HPV could lead to a great change of the phase in the detection delay line, and reference delay line had no change.CONCLUSIONS The(detection) system of the LSAW biosensor in liquid phase is successfully constructed and real time monitoring of(detection) of HPV is realized.

Isolated alkaloids from Coptis chinensis Franch. The compounds were identified as berberine, columbamine, groenlandicine, jatrorrhizine, magnoflorine, corydaldine and ferulic acid methylester. Then measured their bitter degree based on the electronic tongue and evaluated the antibacterial. The results based on the Electronic Tongue showed that berberine, columbamine, groenlandicine and jatrorrhizine have higher bitter degree than magnoflorine and corydaldine. And they also appeared better antibacterial activity on E. coli and S. aureus. The correlation coefficients between bitter degree and the two bacteria antibacterial activity were 0.983 and 0.911. So there was close relationship between the bitter degree and antibacterial activity of bitter components. Thus, it is confirmed further that bitter components are the material foundation of medicinal effectiveness of bitter herbs.

Objective To investigate the effectiveness of intratympanic dexamethasone injection as a protec-tion agent against cisplatin ototoxicity. Methods Fifty five healthy guinea pigs were randomly divided into four groups. The guinea pigs groups received (group I)0.9% NaCl solution(16 ml/kg)intraperitoneally (IP),(group II)dexamethasone (10 mg/ml)intratympanically(IT),(group III)cisplatin (16 mg/kg)only intraperitoneally(IP) and (group IV)dexamethasone (10 mg/ml)IT followed after 1h by 16 mg/kg cisplatin. Before and 7 days following injections, the ototoxic effect was measured with auditory brainstem response(ABR).The contents of malondiade-hyde(MDA)and activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD)were also measured. Results ABR thresholds before and after dosing were 28.50±4.74,29.00±3.94 dB nHL and 28.67±5.82,31.33±5.81 dB nHL in group I and group II,respectively, with no significant differences (P>0.05).The contents of MDA and activities of SOD were 2.01 ±0.07 mmol/L ,234.10±13.09 U/ml and 2.06±0.09 mmol/L,233.20±13.24 U/ml in the group I and group II, respectively, with no significant differences (P>0.05).ABR thresholds after dosing were 55.33±4.81,and 40.67 ±3.72 dB nHL in the group III and group IV,which were significantly increased, but ABR thresholds in the group IV were significantly lower than that in the group III (P<0.05).The contents of MDA were 5.74±0.17,3.51± 0.18 mmol/L in the group III and group IV,which were significantly increased.SOD activities were 107.90 ± 14.21,and 162.70±11.25 U/ml,which significantly decreased.Nevertheless,in the group IV dexamethasone rela-tively reduced the contents of MDA(P<0.001)while increased the activities of SOD(P<0.001)compared with group III.Conclusion Intratympanic dexamethasone injection presents as an effective treatment modality to prevent cisplatin ototoxicity without any ototoxic effect.

AIM: To investigate the expression of B lymphocyte stimulator(BLyS) and CD38 molecules on peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE). METHODS: Twenty-two patients with SLE and fourteen healthy subjects entered the study. Isolated peripheral blood lymphocyte were stained for the lymphocyte surface markers BLyS, CD19, and CD38, and then was measured by flow cytometry(FACS). RESULTS: BLyS + lymphocytes, CD19 + lymphocytes, and CD19 +CD38 + lymphocytes were increased significantly in patients with SLE( P

To analyze complications of hyperbar ic treatment and the management of these complications. Methods: There are 129 cases treated with huperbaria, 125 were severe head injury, 2 were brain infarction, one was carbon monoxide toxication and an other was anesthesia accident. These complications were analyzed. Results: There were 7 of 129 cases suffered with headache and vertigo, one of them was dead. Conclusion: Severe h ead injury patients treated with hyperbaria must be careful, cease the huperbaric treatmen t immediately whenever patients feel discomfort.
