Chinese Journal of Urology 2000;0(05):-
Objective To evaluate the application of chromogranin A (CgA) as a marker in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. Methods Serum chromogranin A were detected by means of ELISA technique in 35 cases of prostate carcinoma,10 cases of benign prostate hyperplasia and 30 cases of healthy subjects. Results Serum CgA [(162?12.5)ng/ml] of patients with prostatic carcinoma was significantly higher than those of healthy subjects and of BPH( P

Objective To evaluate the effect of laparoscopy in treatment of renal cysts. Methods Twenty- eight and thirty-five patients with renal cysts were performed with transperituneal and retroperitonel laparoscopy,re- spectively. Results A total of 62 patients were treated successfully, the average operation time was 60 minutes,no complications presented, and there was no recurrence in follow-up.Conclusion Laparoseopy survey had the advan- tages of less trauma and fewer complications and rapid recovery in treatment of renal cysts, which was suggested for clinical applications.

Objective To investigate the situation of visual memory impairment in patients with myasthenia gravis (MG).Methods Thirty MG patients and 28 normal control subjects were tested with a battery of computerized tests (modified Smith working memory software), which was designed to assess visual-spatial and visual-object working memory. Results There was no significant difference in the accuracy rate of visual-object working memory test between the MG group and normal controls (MG group 73.4% ±9.7%, normal controls 72.7% ±8.5%).The accuracy rate of the visual-spatial working memory test in the MG group (76.6% ± 16.5%) was significantly lower than that in the normal controls (86.6% ±7.5%, Z = -2.204, P = 0.028).Conclusion The visual-spatial working memory is probably impaired while the visual-object working memory is relatively spared in MG patients.

Journal of Chinese Physician 2011;13(7):895-899
Objectives To evaluate the effect of N-Acetylcysteine on the airway inflammation and remodeling of obese asthma mice with high-fat diets. Methods Forty female C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into 4 groups, asthma group (A), obese asthma group (B), treatment group (C) and normal control group (D). Group A were sensitized and challenged by ovalbum (OVA) and normal diets. Group B were sensitized and challenged as group A but fed with high-fat diets, while group C were sensitized, challenged and fed as group B, but administrated N-Acetylcysteine 200 mg/kg. d from the third week after challenge. The cells in BALF were counted and classified after staining, IL-6 and 8-iso-PGF2α(8-iso-PGF2α) in lung tissues were detected by ELISA. WAt, WAm, Pbm, as the remodeling indices, measured in lung pathological section. All parameters were compared among 4 groups. Results In comparison with group D, the leukocytes and EOS in BALF, WAt/Pbm, WAm/Pbm in lung section were increased as well as IL-6 and 8-iso-PGF2α in lung tissue elevated in group A and group B, while the maximum changes were observed in group B (P <0. 05). After NAC treatment, the IL-6, 8-iso-PGF2α and WAt/ Pbm were decreased significantly (P <0. 05). Pearson correlation analysis showed that WAt/Pbm and IL-6 were in positive correlation with 8-iso-PGF2α (r =0. 817, 0. 737, P <0. 01). Conclusions N-Acetylcysteine can alleviate the airway inflammation and remodel reaction of asthma by a substantial inhibition of the oxidative stress reaction in lung.

Objective To detect the clinical features and prognostic factors of nasal cavity malignancy with breast metastasis. Methods 846 Patients with nasal cavity malignancy from January 1999 to December 2011 were enrolled, the clinical and pathological features, clinical diagnostic methods and prognostic factors for breast metastasis patients were analyzed. Results Six female cases (median age 25) were diagnosed with breast metastasis, including 3 rhabdomyosarcoma and 3 olfactory neuroblastoma; consisting 0.7% of the total 846 cases of primary nasal malignancy group. The metastasis were more likely to be multiple breast lesions with/without metastasis in other site. For the primary tumor, five patients received 66-72 Gy/30-33f of radical radiotherapy, one patient with rest rhabdomyosarcoma received 58 Gy of palliative radiation since breast metastasis was found after 14 Gy of radiation and breast mass resection were performed right after. For the breast metastasis, five of 6 patients received breast surgery, one patients with olfactory neuroblastoma received 6 cycles cyclophosphamide + adriamycin + vincristine chemotherapy.Median survival was 12.7 months. Conclusions For nasal cavity malignancy, breast metastasis more likely occur in younger female patients.Ultrasound may provide useful information in evaluating breast metastasis.Cases combined with metastasis except breast have unfavorable prognosis.

The region of about 4.0 kb upstream of Spodoptera litura nucleopolyhedrovirus (SpltNPV) chiA gene was sequenced, in which six open reading frames(ORF1~6) were found. These ORFs are 156, 297, 540, 369, 1281, and 228 nucleotides long, encoding the proteins of 51, 98, 179, 122, 426, and 75 amino acids with the molecular weight of 6.15 kD, 11.46 kD, 21.70 kD, 14.69 kD, 47.59 kD, and 9.09 kD respectively. One early promoter motif CAGT in ORF1 and ORF3, two early promoter motifs CAGT in ORF2, one late promoter motif TAAG in ORF4 and two late promoter motifs TAAG in ORF5 were found in 5′noncoding regions of these ORFs. The polyadenylation signals, AATAAA, are located downstream of the translation stop codon of ORF1, ORF4 and ORF5. ORF4 is the homologous gene of AcMNPV ORF53, BmNPV ORF42, OpMNPV ORF56 and LdMNPV ORF54. Compared with all genes from baculoviruses, ORF1, ORF2 and ORF6 have no homologous genes. It is suggested that ORF1, ORF2 and ORF6 may be three novel baculovirus genes.

Objective: To explore the effects of various concentrations IFN-? on human oral epidermic cancer cell line KB and its multidrug resistant counterpart KBv200.Methods: The toxicity of IFN-? and/or VCR was assayed by MTT method; intracellular rhodamin123 concentration and p-glycoprotein expression were measured by flow cytometry; mdr-1 mRNA was assayed by RT-PCR. Results: High-dose IFN-?(10 000 IU/ml) had significant antiproliferative effects on KB/KBv200 cell lines. Low-dose IFN-? did not have any significant effect on growth of KB/KBv200 cells, but did increase the cytotoxic effect of VCR and the accumulation of Rhodamine123 in KBv200 cell line and had no effect on parent VCR-sensitive KB cell line. IFN-? down-regulated expression of P-gp and mdr-1mRNA . Conclusions: IFN-? has significant effect on the reversal of multidrug resistance of KBv200 cell line via a mechanism of P-gp and mdr1 mRNA down-regulation.
