Journal of Practical Radiology 2010;26(1):11-13,27
Objective To analyze MRI manifestations of cerebral sparganosis and the diagnostic value of MRI.Methods MRI findings in 8 patients with proven cerebral sparganosis by pathological examination were reviewed. Results The lesions were hypointense on T1WI and hyperintense on T2WI with edema of brain around the lesions. Most of the lesions were markedly enhanced with ring-type,nodules,tortous beaded shape or tortuous linear like worm past-enhanced scans. The location and shape of the lesions in 3 cases were changed on followed-up MRI.Conclusion There are some specific pathological findings in cerebral sparganosis.MRI is of important clinical value in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of cerebral sparganosis.

Objective To study the effect and mechanism of Xinkai Kujiang method(TCM treatment with the pungent and bitter herbs to regulate the gastrofunctions)on the functional dyspepsia(FD)rats. Methods Twenty-four rats were randomized into control group, model group, and Weikangning(herbal medicine for dyspepsia)group, with 8 in each. After a 7-day adaptive feed, the FD models were made with the clipping tail stimulation.Seven days after modeling, the Weikangning group was given Weikangning Capsule 0.625g/kg by gavage, twice a day,and the other two groups were given normal saline in the same dosage. The medication was appliey in succession for 12 days, and on the thirteenth day,the serum and gastric tissues were collected for detecting the lab indications:plasma motilin(MTL),plasma nitric oxide(NO),gastric tissue MTL,nitric oxide synthase(NOS),and the expression of Cajal interstitial cells(ICC)and gastrointesinal smooth muscle cells(SMC).Results Compared with the control group, the level of plasma MTL in the model group was significantly decreased, the level of NO significantly increased, and the expression of MTL,ICC and SMC positive neurons in the stomach myenteric nerve plexus was significantly weakened, but the expression of NOS positive neurons was significantly strengthened(P

Prostate cancer, bladder cancer, and rectal cancer are common malignancies in the male pelvis. The incidence rate of erectile dysfunction (ED) following radical prostatectomy, cystectomy or rectal cancer surgery is about 25% - 100%. The main cause of post-surgery ED is mainly attributed to injury of neurovascular bundles, which may lead to reduced oxygenation in and fibrosis of the penile tissue. Early penile rehabilitation after surgery can improve or restore the erectile function of the patients. This article focuses on penile rehabilitation after radical pelvic surgery.

Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2009;32(2):26-28
Objective To discuss the clinical characteristics of diagnosis and treatment of primary gastric malignant lymphoma (PGML). Method The data from 34 PGML medical records were reviewed retrospectively between January 2001 and May 2008. Results There were 23 cases of B-cell malignant lymphoma, 7 cases of T-cell malignant lymphoma, and 4 cases of non-B and non-T small cell lymphoma. Confirmed by pathology, 14 cases of them had metastasis to lymphoid nodes and 5 cases had invaded the organs nearby. All of these 34 cases had gastroendoscopy before operation. Conclusions PGML has no specific manifestation, and the definitely diagnostic rate of gastroendoscopy is low. The surgical resection is the major therapy.Operative pattern, the size of tumor, pathological stage can predicate the prognosis for PGML.

Microbiology 1992;0(03):-
As a clean, efficient, and renewable energy, hydrogen is regarded as a promising alternative. Because of using biomass as substrate, microbial fermentative hydrogen production can meet the need of sustainable development. The factors affecting the process of microbial fermentative hydrogen production, are analyzed in this paper on the basis of microorganisms, substrates, products and operative parameters. The parameters related to hydrogen production from organic wastes, are also mentioned.

In this experiment six methods, calcium chloride(CaCl_(2)) precipitation, polyethylene glycol(PEG,pH7.0) precipitation, polyethylene glycol(PEG,pH11.5) precipitation, aluminum chloride(AlCl_(3)) precipitation,Amicon Utcra centrifugal filter devices and cellulose nitrate membrane were used to concentrate the vaccine poliovirus type 1(PV_(1)) added to water body;experimental conditions for concentration were selected and optimized. The results showed that two methods,CaCl_(2)and PEG(pH 7.0) precipitation were suitable for concentrating virus in large volumes of water while amicon utcra centrifugal filter devices for small ones. The virus recovery of the three methods reached a 100% rate.

Objective: To evaluate the protective effect of epidermal growth factor (EGF) on intestinal barrier functionin rats with acute pancreatitis. Methods: Thirty-two male SD rats received injection of sodium taurocholate solution(3. 5 mg?L-1) into the pancreatic duct were randomly divided into control group (n=16) and treatment group (n=16). Animals incontrol group received total parenteral nutrition (TPN), animals in treatment group were fed on the same TPN formula ascontrol group and injections of EGF at a dose of 0. 2 mg' kg l' day--'. Rats were sacrificed on d 1 and d 5 of TPN. Concen-tration of xylose and fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-dextran in superior mesenteric vein (SMV), protein and DNA contentin je junal mucosa were determined. Samples from SMV, mesenteric lymph nodes, pancreas, liver, spleen were harvested forcultures. Results: FITC-dextran concentration in treatment group was significantly lower than in control group [(3. 4?0. 7)vs (7. 5?0. 9) mg. L-1, P<0. 0l]. Protein and DNA content in je junal mucosa in treatment group were significantly higherthan in control group [(2. 65?0. 23) vs (1. 12?0. 18) mg? cm-1, (0. 25?0. 07) vs (0. 12?0. 04) mg?cm-1, P
