OBJECTIVETo investigate the influence of male age on the pregnancy outcomes of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET).
METHODSWe retrospectively analyzed 7,533 cycles of IVF-ET performed between January 1, 2009 and October 31, 2013. We divided the samples into three groups according to the female age (< 30, 30-34, and 35-38 yr), each again subdivided into six groups based on the male age (< 30, 30-32, 33-35, 36-38, 39-41, and ≥ 42 yr). We compared the rates of implantation, pregnancy, miscarriage, and live birth among different age groups.
RESULTSThere were no statistically significant differences in basal E2, FSH, endometrium thickness on the day of hCG administration, number of oocytes retrieved, and days of embryo transfer among different male age groups (P > 0.05). The implantation rate showed an age-dependent decrease in the < 30, 30-32, 33-35, 36-38, 39-41, and ≥ 42 yr male groups, 41.1, 42.0, 39.5, 31.3, 40.7, and 48.6% among the women aged < 30 years (P < 0.05), 40.3, 36.4, 35.1, 35.3, 29.4, and 37.3% among the women aged 30-34 years (P < 0.05), and 48.2, 17.8, 25.3, 23.5, 22.1, and 23.8% among the women aged 35-38 years (P < 0.05). The miscarriage rate was significantly higher in the ≥ 39 yr than in the 30-32 and 33-35 yr male age groups among the women aged 30-34 years (P < 0.05), but showed no remarkable differences among the other male age groups in the women aged < 30 and 35-38 years (P > 0.05). No statistically significant differences were observed in the rates of pregnancy and live birth among different male age groups (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONMale age has some influence on the rates of implantation and miscarriage but not on the rates of pregnancy and live birth in IVF-ET.

Effect of ginsenoside total saponin (GTS) on the regulation of P450 of livers of rats after γ-ray irradiation was studied. Rats were irradiated by the ⁶⁰Coγ-ray for one-time dose of 5.5 Gy, dose rate of 117.1-119.2 cGy. The cocktail probe, qPCR and Western blot were used to detect expression of enzymatic activites, mRNA and protein of rats. Contrasted with blank group, expression of CYP1A2, 2B1, 2E1, 3A4 of irradiation group showed a up-regulated (P < 0.05). Contrasted with irradiation group, exprression of CYP1A2, 2B1, 2E1, 3A4 of GTS group showed a downward trend. GTS had negative agonistic action against expression of P450 of rats by irradiatied.

AIM: To confirm the effects of capillary endothelium injury in the lung with ischemia reperfusion. METHODS: The rabbits pulmonary models of ischemia reperfusion (I-R)injury were established. Plasma nitric oxide and endothelin levels, arterial oxygen tension and wet/dry weight ratios were determined in different periods in control and I-R groups, and the pulmonary ultrastructure abnormities were analyzed under electromicroscope. RESULTS: The plasma levels of NO and ET-1 in I-R animals increased significantly ,compared with those in sham treated control groups. The level of ET-1 had significantly negative correlation with PaO 2 and positive correlation with the value of the wet/dry weight ratios. The swelling and karyopyknosis of capillary endothelium in the lung with I-R groups were observed in ischemia periods. The injuries of endotheliums and typeⅠandⅡ alveolar cells in 0 5 h of reperfusion were more severe than those in ischemia time, and the injuries began to repair in 2 h of reperfusion time. CONCLUSION: In the I-R group, pulmonary capillary endothelium have been injuried, which may play a prominent role in I-R injury and dysfunction of the lung.

objective To investigate the recurrence of stroke, clinical prognosis and vascular changes in patients with ischemic stroke due to middle cerebral artery stenosis. Methods The ischemic stroke patients with symptomatic middle cerebral artery stenosis were enrolled continuously and followed up prospectively for six months. The recurrence of ipsilateral stroke, clinical prognosis and dynamic changes of vessels were analyzed. Results Eighty patients were included, and 20.0% of the patients(16 cases)presented with recurrence of ipsilateral ischemic stroke and 56 cases (70.0%)with a good outcome(modified Rankin scale[mRS]≤1)during the 6 months follow-up;38.6% patients (27 cases) presented with significant vascular changes with progression in 12 cases (17.1%)and regression in 15 cases (21.4%). Conclusion The patients with simple symptomatic middle cerebral artery stenosis have an high rate recurrence of ipsilateral stroke but have good prognosis;Lesioned artery of the majority of patients in the short period after stroke was stable, but vascular stenosis in some patients could appear progression or remission.

Chinese Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2016;31(12):899-902
Objective To analyze the potential risk factors of infantile spasms (IS) relapse through following up the respondents with IS after different treatment protocols. Methods Sixty-nine cases were collected in the Department of Pediatric Neurology,Jiangxi Children's Hospital from May 2011 to September 2013,who had complete cessation of spasms for at least 28 days or more after the different treatment protocols. The follow-up was performed on these patients until spasms seizure relapse or at least 1 year for those without recurrence.According to the literature review,8 possible risk factors of IS recurrence (gender, age of onset, course of diseases, etiology, high irregular types of electroencephalogram, development quotient, onset time, treatment protocols) were selected, and then Logistic multiple regression was used to analyze the relationship of various potential risk factors with the relapse of spasms. Results (1) The recurrence rate at 6 months and 12 months were 40.6% (28/69 cases)and 43.5 % (30/69 cases),respectively.(2) Among the various potential factors, the age at onset and the time to response were closely related to the IS recurrence.Namely, the non-classic onset(early-onset and late-onset) of IS were more likely to relapse than the classic onset[66.7% (14/21 cases) vs 33.3% (16/48 cases),x2 =6.605,P =0.010];the responders beyond 1 week were more likely to relapse than those within 1 week[63.6% (14/22 cases) vs 34.0% (16/47 cases),x2 =5.341,P =0.021].There were significant differences between the 2 groups (all P < 0.05).(3) Logistic multiple regression analysis demonstrated that age at onset (Wald =3.603) was most closely related to the relapse of spasms. Conclusions (1) The relapse rate of IS in children was high, and the majority of them relapsed within 6 months. So a long-term,rational and effective clinical management solution should be explored.(2) The age at onset and the time to response are very important risk factors of the IS recurrence, and the former was more significant. So,early diagnosis and early treatment are more likely to improve the efficacy of IS,and reduce the risks of recurrence and improve the prognosis.
