Objective: To set a quantified diagnostic standard for large intestinal cancer of spleen qi deficiency syndrome. Methods: The spleen qi deficiency syndrome was identified by experts on the basis of clinical epidemiological investigation of 311 patients suffering from large intestinal cancer. Corresponding points were assigned to the correlative factors (traditional Chinese medicine symptoms) on the basis of symptom differences between spleen qi deficiency syndrome and non-spleen-qi-deficiency syndrome. The best threshold was determined by receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) according to syndrome differentiation from expert team, and the quantified diagnostic standard was established. The syndrome identification from the expert team which was regarded as golden standard was tested retrospectively. Results: All the traditional Chinese medicine symptoms possibly related to spleen qi deficiency syndrome were analyzed based on the opinions of experts, and 28 symptoms were confirmed as candidate correlative factors. The occurrence of 11 symptoms between spleen qi deficiency syndrome and non-spleen-qi-deficiency syndrome showed statistical differences by means of crosstabs analysis (P<0.05). The 11 symptoms were filtered by logistic regression analysis, and tiredness, fatigue, loose stool, and poor appetite were finally determined as the symptoms relative to large intestinal cancer. These four symptoms were analyzed with conditional probability conversion and endowed with 16, 11, 4 and 8 points respectively. The diagnostic standard of spleen qi deficiency syndrome of large intestinal cancer was over 13 points. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of retrospective examination were all above 80%, and its positive likelihood ratio was 9.89. Conclusion: The quantified diagnostic standard for spleen qi deficiency syndrome of large intestinal cancer is in accordance with clinical characteristics of large intestine cancer and the characteristics of TCM syndrome diagnosis.

Objective:To investigate lesion size caused by channel radiofrequency volumetric reduction of por-cine tongue base in vitro using the technique of three-dimensional reconstruction. And to evaluate safety about channel radiofrequency volumetric reduction of tongue base. Method: Eighteen fresh porcine tongues were randomly separated into six groups, and each group had three ones. The tongue bases were designed six points according to description of Powell. Tongues base were acted on 10 s and 6 level by Coblation radiofrequency system and were cut into serial freezing histological sections. These segments were sectioned at 20 μm on the injury lesion and stained with H & E. Collected 2D digital imagine of order histological sections, drawn and cut apart part of the le-sion of these sections. Images were procesed IPS and were taken three-dimensional reconstruction and statistics an-alyzes with SPSS10. 0. Result: The mean value of tongue base lesion volumes among points was (359. 5± 5. 6)mm~3 ,(364. 3±7. 0)mm~3 ,(363. 7±7. 2)mm~3, (354. 1±11. 8)mm~3, (349. 4±17. 2)mm~3 ,(353. 5±7. 9)mm~3 separately. Statistic analysis by one-way ANOVA showed that there was a insignificant difference between the groups(P>0. 05). Conclusion:These results demonstrated no significant effect lesion size in channel radiofrequency volumetric reduction in the different points of the tongue base. These data also indicated that coblation radiofre-quency system is a safe method for obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome.

Chinese Medical Sciences Journal 2014;(3):144-147
Objective To investigate the preventive effect of probiotics on pediatric food allergy.
Methods From MEDLINE bibliographical database, we searched and reviewed all randomized controlled trials on the preventive effects of probiotics on pediatric food allergies up to September 2013 and excluded the studies that do not meet inclusion criteria and extracted the data. Meta-analysis for the results of homogenous studies was performed using RevMan 5.0 and the co-effect was pooled by using fixed-effects model of relative risk (RR) ratios.
Results Ten trials published between 2007 and 2012 including 2701 cases were included. Meta-analysis based on included data showed that the preventive effect of prenatal and postnatal probiotic supplementation on food allergies was not significant with the RR=0.88 (95%CI:0.76-1.03).
Conclusion Present evidences cannot show in unequivocal terms that prenatal and postnatal probiotic supplementation will prevent food allergic diseases.

Objective To investigate the features of familiar facial palsy, ophthalmoplegia and dysphagia characterized by autosomal dominant inheritance in a family and to discuss the classification and pathogenesis of the disease. Methods Clinical, electrophysiological, pathological examinations were performed and blood samples were obtained from 5 patients and 26 family members.PCR protocol was used to identify a certain gene. Results In the 5 patients receiving physical examination, all had ptosis, external ophthalmoplegia, facial paralysis, dyphagia, hoarseness, decreased pharyngeal reflex;4 had amyotrophy of muscle of tongue, temporal nuscle, masseter and muscles of distal lower limbs;3 had proximal limb asthenia and distal limbs amyotrophy.Compared to those of oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy(OPMD)with similar symptoms and signs, both electrophysiological manifestation and pathological findings of the family members supported the diagnosis of muscular dystrophy, but the(GCG)6(GCA)3GCG in the first exon of PABPN1 mutated neither in normal family members nor in patients. Conclusions This family presents clinical manifestations somewhat resembling to those of OPMD and distinctive to other disorders, but has a totally different genetic background from OPMD.It may be a new subtype of muscular dystrophy.
