Objective To examine the levels of fractional exhaled nitric oxide in bronchial asthma and the cor-relation between fractional exhaled nitric oxide and pulmonary function tests as well as the value of pulmonary function tests in curing the children with bronchial asthma. Methods Seventy - two asthmatic children came from Guiyang Ma-ternal and Child Health Hospital were studied. They were divided into 2 groups:mild - to - moderate asthma group(36 cases)and serious asthma group(36 cases). Fractional exhaled nitric oxide level and the lung function were measured and the correlation analysis was analyzed by SPSS 13. 0 software. Results The fractional exhaled nitric oxide concen-tration of the serious asthma group was significantly higher than that of the mild - to - moderate asthma group[(47 ± 26)ppb vs(29 ± 15)ppb,t = 3. 543,P ﹤ 0. 01],1 - second rate, maximum mid - expiratory flow(MMEF),and peak expiratory flow(PEF)in mild - to - moderate asthma group were significantly higher than those in serious asthma group[(99. 74 ± 9. 81)% vs(87. 17 ± 13. 30)% ,(87. 12 ± 35. 61)% vs(68. 90 ± 30. 88)% ,(99. 97 ± 10. 83)% vs (94. 31 ± 17. 69)% ](P ﹤ 0. 01,0. 05,0. 05). No correlations were found between fractional exhaled nitric oxide level and the lung function parameters, including forced expiratory volume in 1s(FEV1),1 - second rate,MMEF and PEF in the mild - to - moderate asthma group(r = 0. 073,0. 087,0. 242,0. 326,all P ﹥ 0. 05). However the level of fractional exhaled nitric oxide was negatively correlated with the lung function parameters, including FEV1,FEV1 / FVC,MMEF and PEF in serious asthma group(r = - 0. 354,- 0. 573,- 0. 478,- 0. 471,P ﹤ 0. 05,0. 001,0. 005,0. 005),respec-tively. Conclusions Monitoring of fractional exhaled nitric oxide and the lung function parameters can effectively indi-cate the state of illness of asthmatic child, which plays a key role in the treatment.

Objective To conduct an in vitro study of the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Staphylococcus aureus and Acin- etobacter spp.,and evaluate their response to various concentrations of tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-?,interleukin (IL)-1?, and IL-6.Methods To monitor the growth of bacteria incubated with the cytokines TNF?,IL-1?and IL-6 that were added to RPMI 1640 medium in various concentrations (10,50.100,500 pg,1 and 10 ng) at 2,4 to 6,8 and 16-18 h.The bacterial concentration was estimated when the mixtures of cytokines and specific neutralizing monoclonal antibodies (MoAbs) were in- cubated. Results We found that all three bacterial species showed concentration-dependent growth enhancement when incubated with one or more tested cytokines.Blockade by specific neutralizing cytokine significantly inhibited cytokine-induced growth. When compared with control, the 6 h growth response was maximal with IL-1?for Staphylococcus aureus and Acinetobacter spp.,and with IL-6 for Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Conclusions In this study we provide additional evidence for a newly de- scribed mechanism for bacterial proliferation in the presence of exaggerated and protracted inflammation. The effect that cyto kine-induced growth enhancement inhibited by specific neutralizing cytokine MoAbs may be useful for antimicrobial therapy.

Objective To study the effects of a rotating magnetic field(RMF)on Li pilocarpine-in- duced seizure activity and the expression of mGluR1 and mGluR5 in the hippocampus. Methods Thirty rats were divided into 5 groups. Each rat in the model(M),short treatment(ST)and long treatment(LT)groups was treated with intra-peritoneal injections of lithium chloride(60 mg/kg),followed by an intra-peritoneal injec- tion of pilocarpine(35 mg/kg)24 h later. The rats in the ST group were exposed to 20 mT RMF for 20 min ev- ery day for 3 d before seizure induction, while the rats in LT group were exposed to the same RMF for 8 d.The latency, severity and duration of seizure,as well as accompanying symptoms and electroencephalogram data, were recorded, and the expression of mGluR1 and mGluR5 was calculated using an electrophoretic imaging anal- ysis system. Results The duration, times and accompanying symptoms of seizure were significantly decreased in the LT group. The mGluR1 mRNA level and mGluR1/mGluR5 ratio in the M group were markedly increased, but the mGluR5 mRNA level was obviously decreased, while the expression of mGluR1 in the ST and LT groups was decreased, and mGluR5 was increased. Conclusions Seizure activity in rats can be inhibited by 20 mT RMF,and the expression of mGluRl and mGluR5 in the hippocampus of rats suffering seizures can be markedly influenced by longer-term RMF.

National Journal of Andrology 2015;21(9):788-791
OBJECTIVETo explore the antitumoral effect of indirubin on androgen-independent prostate cancer PC-3 cells and its possible mechanisms.
METHODSWe measured the inhibitory effect of indirubin on the proliferation of prostate cancer PC-3 cells using MTT assay, detected their cell cycles by flow cytometry, and determined the expressions of the cell cycle regulatory protein cyclin D1 and its related downstream gene c-myc by Western blot.
RESULTSThe viability of the PC-3 cells was significantly decreased by indirubin in a concentration-dependent manner, reduced to 52. 2% and 13. 6% at 5 and 10 µmol/L, respectively. The cell cycle of the PC-3 cells was markedly inhibited by indirubin at 5 µmol/L, with the cells remarkably increased in the G0 and G1 phases and decreased in the S and G2/M phases. Meanwhile, indirubin also inhibited the expressions of cyclin D1 and c-myc in the Wnt signaling pathway.
CONCLUSIONIndirubin can suppress the proliferation of androgen-independent prostate cancer PC-3 cells, which may be associated with its inhibitory effect on the cell cycle and Wnt signaling pathway.

Most chemical medicines have polymorphs. The difference of medicine polymorphs in physicochemical properties directly affects the stability, efficacy, and safety of solid medicine products. Polymorphs is incomparably important to pharmaceutical chemistry, manufacturing, and control. Meantime polymorphs is a key factor for the quality of high-end drug and formulations. Polymorph prediction technology can effectively guide screening of trial experiments, and reduce the risk of missing stable crystal form in the traditional experiment. Polymorph prediction technology was firstly based on theoretical calculations such as quantum mechanics and computational chemistry, and then was developed by the key technology of machine learning using the artificial intelligence. Nowadays, the popular trend is to combine the advantages of theoretical calculation and machine learning to jointly predict crystal structure. Recently, predicting medicine polymorphs has still been a challenging problem. It is expected to learn from and integrate existing technologies to predict medicine polymorphs more accurately and efficiently.
