The data mining technique is adopted to analyze characteristics and rules of acupoint and meridian selection of acupuncture-moxibustion for treatment of vertigo at different time periods in the ancient. The data is collected from literature regarding acupuncture-moxibustion from the pre-Qin period to the end of Qing Dynasty, so as to establish a clinical literature database of ancient acupuncture-moxibustion for treatment of vertigo. Data mining method is applied to analyze the commonly used meridians, acupoints and special acupoints in different dynasties, also possible rules are explored. Totally 82 pieces of prescription of acupuncture-moxibustion for treatment of vertigo are included. In the history the leading selection of acupoitns are Fengchi (GB 20), Hegu (LI 4), Shangxing (GV 23) and Jiexi (ST 41) while that of meridians are mainly three yang meridians of foot and the Governor Vessel, especially the acupoints on the Bladder Meridian of foot yangming had the highest utilization rate, accounting for 23.04%. The acupoint selection is characterized by special acupoint, accounting for 80.6%, among which the crossing points are the most common choice. Distal-proximal acupoints combination is the most frequent method. The results indicate that the ancient acupuncture-moxibustion for treatment of vertigo focused on acupoints in the yang meridians, and the specific acupoints play an essential role in prescription; also the principle of syndrome differentiation and selecting acupoints along the meridians could be seen.

ObjectiveTo sum up the experience in the treatment of huge primary retroperitoneal pelvic tumors (diameter≥10 cm), and analyze factors influencing the removal of the tumors during surgical procedures. MethodsA clinical retrospective review of 26 cases with huge primary retroperitoneal pelvic tumors undergoing surgical resection was made during a period of 1980~2000 in our hospital. The rate of tumors resected was compared between benign and malignant, male and female patients. Results The tumor resection rate in this group was 73%(19/26). There was no mortality within 30 days and no severe postoperative complication. Conclusion Resection should be attempted whenever possible for patients suffering from huge pelvic tumors. The resection rate was higher in female patients than that in male patients. Major blood vessels invasion is responsible for low radical resection rate.

Objective:To identify proteins associated with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) metastasis, and provide scientific basis for the prevention and cure of NPC.Methods:A two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry were performed to screen for differential proteins between highly metastatic 5-8F and non-metastatic 6-10B NPC cell lines.Western blot was used to confirm the differential proteins. We used siRNA to inhibit the expression of differential protein nm23-H1 to determine the association of nm23-H1 with NPC in vitro invasive ability.Immunohistochemistry and statistics were used to evaluate the correlation of nm23-H1 expression with clinicopathological features and clinical outcomes in paraffin-embedded archival tissues including 93 cases of primary NPC and 20 cases of cervical lymphonode metastatic NPC (LMNPC).Results:A total of 15 differential proteins in the 2 cell lines were identified by a proteomic approach, and 3 differential proteins were selectively confirmed.Downregulation of nm23-H1 by siRNA significantly increased the in vitro invasive ability of 6-10B.Significant nm23-H1 downregulation was observed in LMNPC compared with primary NPC.nm23-H1 downregulation in primary NPC was positively correlated with lymphonode and distant metastasis, advanced clinical stage and recurrence.Survival curves showed that patients with nm23-H1 downregulation in primary NPC had a poor prognosis.Multivariate analysis confirmed that nm23-H1 expression level in primary NPC was an independent prognostic indicator.Conclusion:nm23-H1 behaves as a metastasis suppressor in NPC,and nm23-H1 downregulation is a biomarker for poor NPC prognosis.

Journal of Zhejiang University. Medical sciences 2005;34(5):412-416
OBJECTIVETo obtain peptides binding specifically to Pisum sativum agglutinin (PSA) from a phage-displayed random peptide library.
METHODS(1) A phage-displayed random hexapeptide library was screened with PSA as target. (2) Dot blot was used to analyze the influence of the alpha-Met-D-mannoside on binding between PSA and phage-displayed peptides. (3) Three peptides (RMWSF, RYDYSY, LRLRQL) were selectively synthesized, and different concentrations were used to inhibit PSA and ConA binding to the HRP.
RESULTSThe enrichment occurred obviously after three rounds of screening. The insert sequences of amino acids, displayed on 22 phage DNAs from the third round of screening, were divided into three groups. The binding of phage-displayed peptides to PSA was specific as shown by dot blot and could be inhibited by alpha-Met-D-mannoside. LRLRQL was not dissolved in water. ARMWSF and RYDYSY inhibited binding of PSA to HRP, but failed to inhibit binding ConA to HRP.
CONCLUSIONThe binding site of peptides ARMWSF and RYDYSY is different to that of alpha-Met-D-mannoside.

Chinese Journal of Stomatology 2004;39(5):395-398
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the opaquing capacity, color compatibility and stability of IPS Empress all-ceramic veneers.
METHODSA total of 86 IPS Empress all-ceramic veneers were made for 18 patients. The patients were divided into three groups: Group A was tetracycline teeth, 64 veneers for 5 patients; Group B was non-tetracycline teeth, 22 veneers for 13 patients; Group C was 22 natural vital teeth with normal color as control group. Before and after veneers were inserted, ShadeEye NCC was employed to obtain L * a * b * values of each tooth. The values of cemented veneers used as the baseline, the L * a * b * values of each veneer were measured half a year, 1 year, and 2 years after restoration respectively. All L * a * b * values at different evaluation times were analyzed by SPSS 10.0.
RESULTSBefore and after veneers were restored, the L * a * b * values of both Group A and Group B were significantly different, the color difference being 5.01 and 4.15 respectively. The color difference between Group A and selected shade guides was 2.45. Compared with the baseline value, the L * value of Group A significantly decreased 2 years after restoration, but the DeltaE of different evaluation times was not significantly different. The color difference between Group B and Group C was 0.22 and there was no significant color difference after restoration.
CONCLUSIONSIPS Empress all-ceramic veneers have excellent opaquing capacity, color compatibility and stability to non-tetracycline teeth. To tetracycline teeth IPS Empress all-ceramic veneers have a certain opaquing capacity, but they cannot completely match with shade guides; the L * value is significantly different after restoration and further studies are needed to evaluate its color effect.

Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2001;22(5):427-428
Objective: To establish capillary zone electrophoresis method for determination of sildenafil citrate (Viagra) content in its troche. Methods: Using tetrandrine as internal standard(IS), the electrophoretic separation was achieved with 25 mmol/L borate (pH=7.89) running buffer. And a voltage of 14 kV was applied to the 40 cm×75 μm(i.d) capillary. The analytes were introduced into capillary by siphon (1 s) and determined with on-column monitoring at 214 nm. Results:The determination could be completed within 4 min and the minimum concentration of detection was 5 μg/ml.The analytical results of sildenafil citrate samples demonstrated a good linear relationship within the range of 24-480 μg/ml.The relative standard deviations (RSD) of intra-day was less than 1.58% and that of inter-day was less than 2.46%.The present recoveries were between 95%-105%. Conclusion:The CZE method is accurate, simple, rapid and reliable, so it can be applied to the determination of sildenafil citrate content.
10.Curative effect of interferon-alpha on rat liver fibrosis induced by CCl4.
Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2008;33(10):919-925
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the curative effect and the mechanism of interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha) on rat liver fibrosis induced by CCl4.
METHODS:
Thirty-nine male SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups. The rats in the normal control group (n=10) received subcutaneous injection of peanut oil (0.003 mL/g body weight) for 10 weeks. Rat liver fibrosis was induced in 29 rats by 0.003 mL/g subcutaneous injection of 40% CCl4 (CCl4: peanut oil = 2:3), twice weekly for 10 weeks. In the 7th week, these 29 rats were randomly divided into a liver fibrosis group without treatment (n=15) and an IFN-alpha treatment group (n=14), which received subcutaneous injection of IFN-alpha-2b at 10(6) units per rat. The rats' liver tissue was collected and HE and Masson staining were performed to observe of pathological changes, stage of liver fibrosis, and semi-quantitative scoring. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of Collagen I, alpha-smooth muscle actin (alpha-SMA),and transforming growth factor-beta1 (TGF-beta1) in the rat liver.
RESULTS:
The stage of liver fibrosis, semi-quantitative scoring of Masson staining, and immunohistochemical staining of Collagen I in the liver fibrosis group were significantly higher than those of the normal controls (All P<0.01), and those in the IFN-alpha treatment group were significantly lower than those of the liver fibrosis group(P<0.05). The semi-quantitative immunohistochemical scoring of alpha-SMA and TGF-beta1 in the liver fibrosis group was significantly higher than those of the normal control (All P<0.01), and that in the IFN-alpha treatment group was significantly lower than that of the liver fibrosis group (All P<0.05).
CONCLUSION
Treatment of IFN-alpha can decrease the liver fibrogenesis induced by CCl4 in rats. The anti-fibrosis effect of IFN-alpha may be attributed to the inhibition of the hepatic stellate cells' activation to decrease TGF-beta1 expression.
