1.Effect of intravascular He-Ne laser irradiation on the abnormal lipid metabolism induced by clozapine
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2004;10(4):205-206
ObjectiveTo observe the effect and side effect of intravascular He-Ne laser irradiation (ILIB) on the abnormal lipid metabolism induced by clozapine.Methods52 patients with schizophrenia (34 males, 18 females) took clozapine alone at a dosage of 200-350 mg/d. All patients were treated with ILIB every other day, 60 min once, ten times altogether. Before and after treatment, lipid metabolism, liver, kidney and blood coagulate functions of patients were tested.ResultsTC, TG, LDL-ch levels of patients decreased obviously after ILIB treatment (P<0.05), while HDL-ch level increased obviously (P<0.01). The liver, kidney and blood coagulate functions were as same as before treatment.ConclusionILIB has an extreme effect on the abnormal lipid metabolism induced by clozapine, and it is quite safe and has clinical practice value.
2.Effect of music treatment on memory decrease of patients with schizophrenia caused by clozapine
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2002;8(11):684-686
ObjectiveTo explore the effect of music treatment on memory decrease causing by clozapine of patients with schizophrenia. MethodsThe 70 patients with schizophrenia aged 18 to 30, who were in hospital for the first time and had graduated from middle school were divided into the experimental group who received music treatment and the control group with 35 cases each at random, when they reached the clinical cure standard after only taking clozapine. The two groups were given the same test before and after the experiment.ResultsThe memory measurement of the two groups had no difference before the experiment(P>0.05). The patients in the experimental group greatly increased their memory after the treatment (P<0.01), but these was no significent difference in the control group (P>0.05).Conclusions Music treatment can help to improve the memory of the patients received clozapinetreatment.

Objective To compare the reproducibility and reliability of facial soft tissue landmarks using a direct and an indirect placement methods in facial three-dimensional (3D) soft tissue assessment. Methods 3D coordinates of 37 soft tissue landmarks were obtained respectively in 35 normal healthy volunteers from 3D optical capture system and Materialise's interactive medical image control system (Mimics).Landmarks were affixed on the cutaneous surface (direct method) and marked on the 3D reconstructed craniofacial model (indirect method).Intra-class correlation coefficients (ICCs) and paired t-tests were used to compare the reliability and reproducibility of facial landmarks between two placement methods. Results For the direct placement method,86.5 % landmarks had an ICC higher than 0.75.For the indirect placement method,75.7% landmarks had an ICC higher than 0.75.The inter-observer variability using the direct placement method was (1.259±0.566) mm,which was significantly smaller (P<0.05) than (1.420±0.638) mm obtained by the indirect placement method. Conclusions Compared with indirect method, direct method has higher reliability and reproducibility in evaluating facial soft tissue.

Objective To evaluate if the assay of platelet-associated immunoglobulin G (PAIgG) can improve the sensitivity of monoclonal antibody immobilization of platelet antigens assay (MAIPA) in immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).Methods Anti-GP Ⅱb/Ⅲa and anti-GP Ⅰb/Ⅸ autoantibodies were detected by a modified MAIPA;PAIgG was detected by competitive ELISA.MAIPA and PAIgG were done simultaneously in 190 patients with thrombocytopenia,in which 132 were diagnosed as ITP according to the diagnostic criteria Kappa test was used to analyze the concordance between MAIPA and PAIgG.Results The sensitivities of PAIgG alone or in parallel with MAIPA to ITP were 32.6% and 37.2% higher than MAIPA alone respectively, while their specifieities were 51.7% and 56.9% lower respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value of PAIgG in series with MAIPA were all not superior to MAIPA alone. The kappa values between MAIPA and PAIgG in ITP and non-immune thrombocytopenia were 0.129 and 0.012 respectively, which meant the concordance between them was poor. Conclusion The detection of PAIgG should not be used as screening before MAIPA in distinguishing immune from non-immune thrombocytopenia.

Objective To set up a method of detecting platelet associated antibody(PA Ig) by flow cytometry(FCM),and to investigate the value of FCM method in the diagnosis of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP).Methods We detected the platelet associated antibody of 20 healthy donors and 10 patients with ITP.These samples were also measured with ELISA.The results of FCM were compared with the results of ELISA.Results By FCM,the measured value of PA IgG,PA IgA and PA IgM,from 20 normal dornors, were 2.56?2.08%、13.75?5.98% and 13.90?7.28%,respectively.In patients with ITP,PA IgG,PA IgA and PA IgM were 28.13?17.74%、25.07?16.84% and 23.22?17.85%.Conclusion FCM can be a rapid, sensitive and new method in detecting platelet autoantibody, and has better potential than ELISA.

Objective To observe the changes in secretory functions of cultured umbilical vein endothelial cells injured by serum from pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH). Methods Endothelial cells isolated from the umbilical veins from moderate or severe PIH women (PIH group, n =10) and normal pregnant women (control group, n =8) were incubated at 37 ℃ in humidified air with 5% CO 2. Cell culture fluids were obtained at 3 and 4 d of primary culture. Contents of nitric oxide (NO), malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH ) in the cell culture fluids were measured. Results LDH activity and MDA contents in the cell culture fluids in PIH group were significantly higher than those in the control group ( P
10. Relationship between circumcision and human papillomavirus infection: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Asian Journal of Andrology 2017;19(1):125-131
Male circumcision (MC) is reported to reduce human papillomavirus (HPV) prevalence in men. However, the efficacy remains imprecise. The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the relationship between MC and genital HPV infection and genital warts. PUBMED, EMBASE, and Web of Science were searched from inception to March 22, 2015. We identified 30 papers, including a total of 12149 circumcised and 12252 uncircumcised men who were evaluated for the association of circumcision with genital HPV or genital warts. Compared with men who were not circumcised, circumcised men may have had significantly reduced odds of genital HPV prevalence (odds ratio [OR]: 0.68; 95% confidence interval [95% CI]: 0.56-0.82). There was no significant association between MC and genital HPV acquisition of new infections (OR: 0.99; 95% CI: 0.62-1.60), genital HPV clearance (OR: 1.38; 95% CI: 0.96-1.97), and prevalence of genital warts (OR: 1.17; 95% CI: 0.63-2.17). This meta-analysis suggests that circumcision reduces the prevalence of genital HPV infections. However, no clear evidence was found that circumcision was associated with decreased HPV acquisition, increased HPV clearance, or decreased the prevalence of genital warts.
