The curriculum for general practitioner training does not include much knowledge on medical humanities except for medical ethics,which can not meet the requirement of general practitioners' defined duty.This article analyzes the necessity of adding social psychological skills to the training and assessment of general practitioners from the following aspects of the nature of general practitioners' duty,and the disadvantages of medical humanities education in current Chinese medical universities.Then the proposition of this system is also presented.

Objective To investigate the distribution and duration of abnormal blood glucose level in SGA infants. Methods Blood glucose level was systemicly monitored in 37 SGA infants for (133?115) h(range 16～524 h, median 93 h), who were non NICU hospitalized and no feeding or IV infusion when admitted at (2 6?2 4) h (range 0.25~10.0 h, median 2.0 h) of age. Results During monitoring period, there was hypoglycemia in 19 cases (51%),hyperglycemia in 2 cases (5%), and both hypo and hyperglycemia in 3 cases (8%). The median of last time abnormal glucose level appeared was 10 hr after birth, its 95% confidence interval was 5~55hr after birth. Multiple regression analysis shown delivery models bad relationship with glucose level at admition (p= 0.013). The blood glucose level was higher in vaginal delivery babies. Objective To evaluate the effects of glutamine on immune function in elderly patients with malnutrition.Methods Twenty-four elderly patients with malnutrition were equally randomized divided into glutamine group and control group.Patients in both two groups were administered with enteral nutrition containing equal nitrogen and calorics for consecutively 7 days.In the glutamine group,patients were also supplied with oral glutamine (7.5g tid).Changes of plasma IgG,IgA,and IgM levels,percentages of T-lymphocyte subsets (CD3,CD4,CD8),and CD4/CD8 ratio were determined before and after treatment.Results Plasma IgG and IgA lev-els,percentages of CD3 and CD4,and CD4/CD8 ratio were significantly higher in glutamine group than in control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusion Glutamine can improve the immune function in elderly patients with malnutritiop and promote their recovery.

BACKGROUND: Rat model of orthotopic liver transplantation is a very valuable model for experimental study in liver transplantation including organ preservation, tissue ischemia-reperfusion injury, allograft rejection and immune tolerance mechanism. Stable liver transplantation animal model is the basis of the related experimental studies. However, its experimental operation is long and boring, especially performed by a single operator under direct vision. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the operation techniques to establish a stable rat model of orthotopic liver transplantation by a single operator under direct vision. METHODS: The orthotopic liver transplantation was performed using two-cuff method in 50 pairs of rats. We exposed the abdominal cavity fully, perfused the donor liver through abdominal aorta without flipping donor liver; suprahepatic inferior vena cava was in vivo cut down using one-step method, without diaphragm ring; the suprahepatic inferior vena cava was anastomosed with single-row suture, and the cuff of portal vein was installed by fixing the blood vessel forceps on rubber. Hepatic artery was not reconstructed. Fluid replacement was administered to maintain hemodynamic stability in rats after operation. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The donor operative time was (36.2± 2.5) minutes, donor liver trimming time was (12.2± 1.5) minutes, receptor operative time was (45.6 ± 3.5) minutes, suprahepatic inferior vena cava anastomosis time was (10.1 ± 2.1) minutes, portal vein cuff time was (1.5 ±0.9) minutes, infrahepatic inferior vena cave cuff time was (1.1 ± 0.6) minutes, anhepatic phase was (15.1 ± 2.2) minutes. The success ratio of the operation was 100% and the survival rates within 1 week and 1 month were all 100%. It is indicated that the key factors of a successful model were stable anesthesia, good donor liver perfusion, adequate exposure, skilled microsurgical technology and vascular anastomosis technique.

Objective To study the mechanism of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) and discuss its clinical significance in the treatment of mid-late stage liver cancer. Methods The patients with mid-late stage liver cancer were treated with HIFU. The changes of photography, pathology and immunology after operation were evaluated. Results It was shown that the results of the photographic, pathologic and immunologic examinations changed during the treatment of the patients with HIFU. Conclusion HIFU is effective and safe for the treatment of mid-late stage liver cancer.

This study reviews the researches on self-handicapping in about more than 20 years. It summarizes the practical researches of self-handicapping from 7 aspects: (1)manifestations and types of self-handicapping behaviors;(2)evaluative conditions that typically elicit self-handicapping;(3)motives underlying self-handicapping; (4)factors influencing on self-handicapping; (5)consequences of self-handicapping; (6) measurements of self-handicapping. On this basis, it raises some questions in self-handicappping researches and points out the future direction.

Multidrug resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs is an important reason for clinical chemotherapy failure. The mechanisms of the classical drug resistance such as P-gp, MRP have been clarified. Hence, it is very important to further study the non-classical mechanism of multidrug resistance. We introduced the effects on MDR, the possible mechanisms of glutathione and related enzymes, as well as the relationship between structure of GSH analogues and the transport activity in this paper.
