1.Effects of integrins and integrin αvβ3 inhibitor on angiogenesis in cerebral ischemic stroke.

Integrins such as αvβ3, α5β1 play a key role in angiogenesis regulation, invasion and metastasis, inflammation, wound healing, etc. The up-regulation of integrin αvβ3 after cerebral ischemic stroke can promote angiogenesis, which in turn improves functional recovery. In addition, the integrin αvβ3 inhibitor can block the blood-brain barrier (BBB) leakage induced by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and also can reduce inflammatory reaction, decrease the deposition of fibrinogen. Other studies showed that integrin αvβ3 is not essential in revascularization. Therefore, the effect of integrin αvβ3 in the whole process of brain function recovery merits further study.
2.Fair Benchmarks of Evaluation Framework for Health Resource Allocation and Its Reference for China

This paper introduced the fair benchmarks of evaluation framework for health system constructed by Daniels, et al, and its developmental application in evaluation of health resource allocation fairness .After introdu-cing the resources rational allocation of public health fair benchmarking fixed framework , this paper assessed the al-location of health resources according to the fixed framework .China has achieved good results in public health serv-ice interventions .But public sector governance , macro economic and social policy environment , factors such as ac-countability may restrict the improvement of the health care system .China's health expenditure allocations have un-fairness between provinces , urban and rural areas and different classes .China can use the new benchmark in the field of public health to promote the reform of health resource allocation fairness , make effective social health strate-gies.
3.Role of inflammation in and effects of saponin of Panax Notoginseng on formation of foam cells

Objective To study the role of zymosan in and the effects of total saponin of Panax notoginseng (PNS) on the formation of foam cells originating from peritoneal macrophages. Methods The peritoneal macrophages of mice were cultured with zymosan, PNS and oxidized low density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) for 48 h. The shape of the foam cells was shown with the staining of red oil O dye. The content of total cholesterol (TC) in the foam cells was determined. The concentration of TNF? and IL-1 in the supernatant of the cell culture was measured. Results The TC content and the concentration of TNF-? and IL-1 were significantly higher in the zymosan group than in the PNS group. Conclusion Inflammation can accelerate the formation of foam cells through the pathway of inflammatory cytokines but PNS can reduce the formation with the inhibition of inflammation.
4.Effects of intravenous injection of α-crystallin on retinal ganglion cells and some important organs

Objective To investigate the effects of intravenous injection of α-crystallin on retinal ganglion cells (RGC) and some important organs of the Long Evans rats. Methods RGC were retrogradelabeled by fluorogold through bilateral superior colliculus and lateral geniculate body for seven days before optic nerve crush injury. Twenty-three Long Evans rats were used for this study, including three rats of normal control group and 20 rats of experimental group. Twenty rats were randomly divided into saline control group and three α-crystallin injection groups, which received tail vein injection of 1.25 ml isotonic saline and three different concentrations (1 × 10-2 , 1 × 10-1 and 1 g/L) of α-crystallin respectively, once every two days and totally seven times. After two weeks, the labeled RGC were counted, and the pathological changes on liver, kidney, brain, spleen and the lungs were investigated. Results Compared with the normal control group, although the number of RGC markedly decreased after two weeks of optic nerve crush injury in every group, the number of RGC in α-crystallin-treated groups was more than those in the saline control group. There were 2074± 150 RGC per mm2 in normal control group, 85 ± 15 RGC per mm2 in saline control group, 124±26 RGC per mm2 in 1 × 10-2 g/L α-crystallin group, 128± 31 RGC per mm2 in 1 × 10-1 g/L α-crystallin group, 164 ± 20 RGC per mm2 in 1 g/L α-crystallin group (F= 18. 660,P<0. 01). No congestion, swelling, inflammation and other pathological changes were found in liver,kidney, brain, spleen and lung. Conclusions Intravenous injection of α-crystallin protein has protective effects on RGC after the optic nerve crush injury, and no significant effects on important organs.
5.Relationship between FOX family genes and leukemia

FOX genes code transcription factors. FOXO3a,FOXM1,FOXP3 are members of FOX genes family,which are associated with leukemia. Phosphorylated FOXO3a which loses the function of suppressing leu-kemia is inactive. Phosphorylated FOXO3a expresses in leukemic cell cytoplasm. FOXM1 is an oncogenesis tran-scription factor. FOXM1 highly expresses in myeloid leukemic cells. Expression of FOXP3 in leukemic cells has diversity. FOXP3 mainly expresses in T cell leukemic cells. These genes abrrant expressions play a key role in leukemia pathogenesis,development,therapy,drug resistance and prognosis.
6.Discussion on the necessity of providing leadership course for health service management students

Effective leadership is crucial for health organizations' performance and numerous western universities thus offer leadership courses or modules to their students.However,such education practice has not started in China.In order to optimize knowledge and skills of health service management practitioners,to content with requirements of health service organizations,to cope with dynamic organization environment,to implement health reform successfully and to realized sustainable development of health organizations,it is necessary to provide leadership course for students of health service management at Chinese universities.
7.Modified electroconvulsive therapy in the treatment of mental disorders during pregnancy

The treatment of mental disorders during pregnancy is challenging.Modified electroconvulsive therapy (MECT) has become one of the important and powerful treatment methods,which is safe with a rapid onset of action and fewer side effects,benefiting for patients in acute stage especially for those with suicidal ideation.This article mainly discusses the superiority of MECT in the treatment of mental disorders in pregnancy,as well as the treatment principle in women and fetus.Through pretreatment evaluation and closely monitoring of therapeutic efficacy during and after treatment,the complications of pregnant women and fetuses,such as vaginal bleeding,premature labor and fetal arrhythmia,can be effectively minimized.Taken together,MECT seems to be a safe and effective measure in treating mental disorders during pregnancy.
9.Rapid determination of volatile constituents in safflower from Xinjiang and Henan by ultrasonic-assisted solvent extraction and GC-MS

The total volatile components were extracted from safflower by ultrasonic-assisted solvent extraction (USE) and their chemical constituents were analyzed by gas chromatographymass spectrometry (GC-MS) to provide scientific basis for the quality control of safflower.Five different solvents (diethyl ether,ethanol,ethyl acetate,dichloromethane and acetone) were used and compared in terms of number of volatile components extracted and the peak areas of these components in TIC.The results showed that USE could be used as an efficient and rapid method for extracting the volatile components from safflower.It also could be found that the number of components in the TIC of ethyl acetate extract was more than that in the TIC of other solvent ones.Meanwhile,the volatile components of safflower from Xinjiang Autonomous Region and Henan Province of China were different in chemical components and relative contents.It could be concluded that both the extraction solvents and geographical origin of safflower are responsible for these differences.The experimental results also indicated that USE/GC-MS is a simple,rapid and effective method to analyze the volatile oil components of safflower.
10.Detection and Genotyping of Herps Simplex Virus Type 2 by DNA Sequencing

Objective Herpes simplex virus is the pathogenic agent of human herpes simplex. There are two genotypes of herpes simplex virus, HSV-1 and HSV-2. The clinical manifestations of HSV-1 and HSV-2 overlap each other and it is difficult to differentiate them clinically. Methods developed based on genome differences are efficient ones to differentiate the two genotypes of HSV. In this study, we attempted to develop a new method to detection and genotyping human HSV in clinical samples. Methods Swab samples were collected from genital lesions of patients and placed in transport media. Samples were used to inoculate Vero cells. After appearance of the cytotoxicity, the infection mixtures were collected, and subjected to genomic DNA extraction. Based on the conservation and variation of gD of HSV-1 and HSV-2, a pair of primers amplifying both of them were designed and synthesized. Sequence of the virus were amplified and cloned into pMD-18T, and then the sequence was determined by DNA sequencing. The sequence was compared to all the known sequences in Genebank by using BLAST. According to the BLAST results, the genus and genotype of the virus was determined. Results A DNA fragment of about 200 bp was successfully amplified. This DNA fragment was cloned and sequenced. The sequence was compared with other known sequences. the results showed that this sequence had the highest homology to gD of HSV, indicating that the virus in the sample was HSV-2. The BLAST results also showed that there were some differences in the sequence of gD to those previously isolated. Conclusion DNA sequencing of PCR amplification products is an efficient and definite method to detect and genotype HSV-1 and HSV-2 which otherwise are difficult to differentiate clinically.
